We never get to meet Anthony but the communication and directions was perfect.
The place was exactly what we were looking for. Very peaceful and isolated right in front of Salton Sea.
Anthony was a wonderful host. He let me add another person to my party last minute without any problems and gave me a call after I had arrived to make sure we were settled in. There was coffee for the morning and even ice cream for us in the freezer! There were enough beds for all 5 of us and plenty of extra space in the house. I've lived in the city my whole life so I'm used to the sky having a reddish tint at night with very few stars, but the stargazing from the back porch is awesome. We got to see a really striking moonrise from across the sea as well. The sunsets and sunrises are something else and definitely worth seeing! There's a grill in the back yard that you can use a propane tank with but Anthony said we could use charcoal with it as well and it worked out pretty well! I've been around different areas of the Salton Sea and it can get a little fragrant sometimes but I hardly noticed it here, which was cool! If you're more sensitive to smells, there's a nice little market close to the highway that sells all different kinds of incense, drinks, and groceries. Definitely a good place to get away from everything for a while. I'm working on photographing different parts of the sea's coastline so I'll definitely be coming back here to stay for a few days in the future!
Anthony's place is right on the water of one of the most interesting places in Southern California history. We had a great stay and although we never met Anthony, he was responsive and helpful when we arrived. I highly recommend staying here if you want an experience that is unlike any other in California. Truly a fascinating place.
Anthony was an extremely kind and generous host. He truly wanted us to have an enriching experience at his home and even left us firewood so we could have a nice fire! The home was clean and comfortable and his backyard was a massive, unique body of water that we had fun exploring.
We had a lovely time!
The house is big and has everything you'll need. There's a private bedroom, the three single beds in the family room, and a sofa bed in the living room. We had a great time by the fireplace in the family room. The view of the lake and mountains from the house is very pretty. At night, you can see the milky way. We had a very good time here.
Anthony's house provided us with exactly the vacation we were looking for; private, relaxing and mellow. It was amazing to watch the sunset and even more amazing to watch the sunrise over the water. If you are looking for a relaxing weekend away this is your spot! The last day we were there the power did go out for a total of about 4 hours so be aware of that possibility; Anthony says it happens every now and again. This place can also easily accommodate up to seven people and the beds are really comfy. Our pup Shiva also had a blast although I don't recommend leaving your pooch unattended!
Anthony's home was a delightful, relaxing place during the stressful holiday season. His home has the absolute best views available of the Salton Sea. At his suggestion, we watched the sun rise and set and it was spectacular. They provided every amenity we could possibly have wanted or needed, and then some. Anthony was polite, courteous, and quick to respond if we had any questions. Since we only stayed a day, we didn't get to see a whole lot of the area but we did visit Salvation Mountain and that was quite a sight. Mostly we just hung out at the house and relaxed and enjoyed the beautiful views. I saw some mention of smells but I really didn't notice them all that much, and certainly not when inside the house which was very clean and comfortable. If we ever make it back to to the Sea, we would absolutely stay here again.
