Great location with lots of greenery!

Silvia's place is a nice escape from the hectic in the big city. A nice getaway to relax, enjoy the jungle, the many hummingbirds and monkeys. The room was nice and clean, and even though the power went off at night, Silvia quickly started the generator so that we'd have power again. Also, the village down the street is very neat, with a local restaurant that serves fresh fish. Next time, I definitely want to stay longer than just one night.

Silvia's place is lovely and relaxing. Enjoyed lazing in the hammock and watching the hummingbirds at the birdfeeder. It is a very short walk into town, where you can take a water taxi to one of the islands for some beach time. If we had had the time, I would have loved to do some kayaking and hiking. If you take a bus from Colon be aware that it could take 2 hours. We took it on a Friday morning at 11.30 and we got there by 1.30pm. Many schoolkids getting on or off. Maybe it's better at a different time of day. Silvia is very knowledgeable about the bus times and so on. The staff knows a bit of English, but not enough to get the answers you need, if your Spanish is very limited. They are helpful and friendly. There are 3 dogs and 2 cats on the property but hey were no bother, we actually enjoyed them. the howler monkeys were howling in the trees at the back of the property and you could see them moving around there. Very interesting! The shower only had cold water, I never did talk to Silvia about that, so I am not sure if that is always the case.

This is a jungle setting, no beach, only one restaurant Casa X, no internet. You need a car so you can do and see things around the area. Bus service is irregular. Purto Lindo is very local and their is garbage all over the place. Good for a short term stay, like trying to get your land legs back after across the sea from Cartagena.

Response from Silvia:
dear randy and cristal, our house is in the middle of the jungle ,. but 300 meter away run all day long taxi boats to the beaches , in 5 minutes you are on a wonderfull beach :-) the buses run daily (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) -exept sundays , the garbage is a bit a problem after weekends , i know , but we try to change this :-) this is still a old fashion fisher village - they have not much tourismo and have to learn .....

Hostel Wunderbar is exactly as advertised, the room was very clean and the place very convenient, you can bring your own stuff to cook, but they're also serve breakfast, lunch & dinner. Outside of each room, they've a table/chairs and a hammock. The surroundings invite to disconnect and relax, kind of place you got to recharge your energy. Boats to Isla Mamey is a 300 walk down the road and there's also a great restaurant next to the dock (Casa X). The place is family run, owners and staff are wonderful people.

This place is a great deal! Silvia makes you feel at home and the room is clean and cute. It's in a more remote part of Panama, so Internet was spotty and water is pumped...not a problem if you're realistic. I wish we had more time to take advantage of the beautiful hammocked deck. The torrential rain on the metal roof is a memory I will cherish forever.
