About This Listing
If you like mountain views, then look no further. From practically every room in the cabin, you have incredible views of pastureland and mountains stretching to the sky. The location is incredibly peaceful, the cabin is nestled in the woods and the sounds of songbirds will greet you every morning.
AirBnB won't let us link to some of the videos and photos, but more information on the cabin can be found if you do a search for Choestoe Hideaway.
Here is a walkthrough of the cabin:
The porch of our cabin has an average high in the low 80s, even in the middle of a brutal heat wave! The porch is in full shade and faces north, which means you can sit outside all summer in total comfort!
Please note: the stairs in the cabin are a bit steep and might not be suitable for elderly or disabled visitors.
Around the cabin: The cabin is situated on one acre, however with the fields in front of you it feels like one hundred. Walk down the stairs to the front of the property and sit on the log swing-set, roast marshmallows around the fire pit, or take one of the most picturesque walks you can imagine down the country road out front. This is not a through road, so there is little traffic that will distract you from the natural surroundings. A short walk will take you past aged barns, babbling mountain streams, and, of course, splendid views of Track Rock Valley and the Choestoe area. This road would also be perfect for bicycles or a quick jog.
Recent renovations include central heat and air, new tongue and groove wood, a brand new metal roof (sounds great when it rains) and a full renovation of the kitchen with all stainless steel appliances.
Choestoe: Choestoe is an old Indian word meaning 'Land of the Dancing Rabbits.' However, if you ask any of the locals you will know it is synonymous with one of the most beautiful areas in the North Georgia mountains. Before you even arrive at the cabin, you will know you are some place special. No matter which direction you come from, the drive up to the cabin is incredibly scenic with mountains in every direction.
The cabin includes everything you will need, just show up with your clothes and food. We use it often, and therefore it has amenities like paper towels, spices, sugar, flour, many different cooking utensils, a coffee grinder and a nice coffee maker, plus high end appliances. There is a 42' HDTV with Showtime and HBO, there is a Wii video game system that also has Netflix Streaming, giving you access to over 10,000 movies and TV shows. There is a propane grill on the porch, and you will have trouble finding a more beautiful place to grill. There is wireless high speed Internet that works throughout the property...sit on the swing and check your email! There is also a hammock, firepit, and children's swing-set.
To preserve living space, the stairs in the cabin are rather steep and might not be suitable for elderly renters. We have rented to many people and never had a complaint, but feel free to ask if you are concerned.
Cool, funky cabin in a great location. Wonderful views and comfortable living in an area close to Blairsville shopping and all the great trails and rivers of the Chattahoochee NF. The cabin is simple but well equipped and perfect for a long weekend getting away from it all. Host Chris is very responsive, welcoming, and easy to work with. If we come back to the area we will definitely look to stay here again.
My fiancé and I had a wonderful time in the mountains, Chris' cabin was cozy and comfortable and had the basic necessities. He has a book that will show you how to use everything in the cabin as well as sights and activities that are nearby.. We loved the views and everything that we wanted to experience was only 30 minutes max away. You can't beat the price for a nice cabin with plenty of space. We utilized the fire pit, hammock, and appreciated the outdoor dining areas as we watched the sunset. We've made beautiful memories during our stay. I can go on and on about how awesome it was. You will need to contact Chris in advance to make sure you have all the information you need to get into the cabin. The only thing I didn't expect was washing the linen at the end of our stay when there is a $70 cleaning fee. I didn't want to leave! Such a beautiful serene place.
The very best part of our stay were the lovely views from all levels of the cabin. Supper on the main deck is real treat, and the master bedroom, likewise, is cozy with great views. The downstairs deck is also a great place to hang out, but the downstairs bedroom is a "basement room," which was chilly and damp-feeling in early (website hidden) utensils, etc. are adequate, but basic, and you might want to bring a big skillet and grilling tools if you plan to cook a big breakfast or grill out. With lots of board games and tv/wii options, you'll have plenty of rainy day options in the cabin if you don't feel like heading out. Joseph Campbell Folk School is a 45 minute drive north, however, and there's a great BBQ place on the way to Vogel State Park. The location couldn't be better for hikes at Brasstown Bald, Blood Mountain, etc. This area is one of Georgia's prettiest, and Chris was super easy to coordinate with.
Thanks for the review Ashley. The downstairs bedroom does get a little damp in the spring but we have fixed that by adding a dehumidifier to the room. My guess is that it wasn't on when you arrived because when it is running it keeps the humidity level very low, warms the room a bit, and prevents any mold or smells from forming. I will contact our housekeeper and make sure she turns it on and leaves it on until the temperatures warm outside.
We didn't meet the host during our stay but he provided sufficient instructions that we got along with no problems. The name Spectacular Views tells it all. What a great place to stay. We are in the highpointing mode and traveled the short distance to Georgia's highest state elevation (Brasstown Bald) which can actually be seen from the lodging. The surrounding area has a lot to see including the town of Helen and just in general the gorgeous countryside. If we are sometime back in this area we would definitely book this place again.
First, Chris was amazing at communicating and getting back to me almost immediately with every question i had which was very much appreciated.
My boyfriend and I were up for the GA Wine Highway weekend and stayed at the Hideaway and it truly was the perfect location. We were able to hit ten wineries in the area during the two days and in the evening cook out and relax on the deck.
In the morning we were awakened to cows mooing and smokies in the big windows in the bedroom. Truly spectacular.
The cabin itself was very clean and cozy and stocked with everything we needed! Even extra virgin olive oil we had forgotten to buy for salad dressing :)
The two main bedrooms are two floors apart so for two couples to split the price and have privacy in their own bedrooms is an option.
We're already planning on when we can get back there for the fall.
The cabin was so cozy and wonderful. We felt secluded and peaceful but only a short drive into town to get necessities. I would definitely return.
This place in Blairsville, GA was everything I had hoped for and more! This very well kept but quaint cabin was cozy and comfortable and had amazing deck views of mountains and the valley. Chris's hiking trail suggestions, fully equipped kitchen, and selection of movies kept my boyfriend and me so happy throughout our three day stay. We would come back in a heartbeat!
