  • Great central location, everything is within walking distance or a short taxi ride! Good budget accommodation. The house is situated on a back alley way, quiet noisy (by our experience, this may not always be the case) around midnight and 5:30am daily with businesses and rubbish trucks dealing with the rubbish bins outside the house. Great local bar called BottleShop just up the corner, yummy breakfast and coffee options right around the corner. Internet was a great bonus. Bed upstairs was comfy and the sofa bed as expected. Easy communication had with Dean, who was flexible on the check out time, thanks!

  • This house was the perfect location for us, a 15-20 minute walk into town, a quick drive over to Oxford street and right on a main cafe strip. Really affordable and stocked with everything you need. Dean and Melissa were easy to get in touch with and super helpful! I'd definitely stay here again.

  • Where do start! This place is simply amazing. Great location fantastic space amazing hosts who went the extra mile to ensure our weekend was one of the best we've ever had in Sydney. Dean introduced himself when we arrived to ensure all was ok. The house is cute and comfortable. Near by restaurants and cafés where the best we've experienced in Sydney. We will be staying again and again. Thanks to Melissa and dean for sorting out our little mishap with the keys at the end of our trip. See you again soon. Craig,Dave and Tom

  • Dean was an amazing host with great hospitality and communication before and during our stay. He answered my unending inquiries with a good and informative attitude and made me feel at ease when it came time to arrive and check in.

The place itself is indeed charming. It's located in a small alleyway that isn't accessible to cars, so you'll have to walk in to get to the door. It's a small and cozy place adorned with things to make you feel like you're at home.

There are some things that could use renovation, but overall, it was a nice place to stay that was a five minute walk from the Central Business District and had some nice restaurants and bars around the corner.

The only complaint I have is that there were a few unwanted visitors during our stay -- there were a few cockroaches that made appearances, but if it weren't for that, our stay would have been perfect.

  • Property is exactly as listed. Central location makes everything within walking distance. The apt was clean and Washington machine/dryer are extremely convenient.

  • dean was very good to deal with, and the accommodation is very handy to buses
and the c.b.d. Unfortunately the wi fi was down during our stay.

  • Airbnb relies heavily on goodwill and trust. We paid fully in advance for what was advertised as having cooking and laundry facilities. We really feel Dean did not fulfill his end of this arrangement.

The washing machine was broken when we arrived, it had not worked for the previous visitors and apparently had first given problems a month before that. It did not work for our entire 2 week stay.

Dean did come to look at the machine and left saying there was no problem. We then tried to use it only to find it was not fixed, leaving us with wet clothes that had to be hand-washed. Dean had not actually run the machine with any clothes in it.
We asked Dean to replace the machine, he said he would try to replace it over the weekend and that was the last we heard from him until we chased again the following Monday.

The next day (10th day of our stay), Dean left a note to say that a part was being ordered and left money that paid for two washes at a launderette for my family. I had told Dean that we did not want to use our precious holiday time visiting a laundrette - that is why we booked a house with a washing machine. The repair never materialised and we did not hear from Dean again.

We were disappointed that we had to chase Dean. We certainly did not feel he was doing all he could to resolve the situation which was all we were asking for. Really feel let down.

The location of the house is perfect for visiting the city but quite noisy as it is so central. It is an old house with single glazed windows so this is something to consider if you are sensitive to noise.

  • We agree the position of this apartment is excellent, close to central Sydney. The good and bad points of this apartment have already been covered by previous reviewers. Although this is budget accommodation it is looking a bit tired and now looks much older and more run down (especially the bathroom) than in the photos. The place could be easily smartened up with a little more attention to things like replacing the well worn bedroom and bathroom linen and keeping the appliances in working order. Dean was always helpful and willing to assist with requests for assistance.

  • Our weekend stay at Deans apartment in Darlinghurst was perfect. Nice little place that is a cruisy walk from the city, and about 15 minute drive from Bondi. The place was cleaned just before we arrived and checking in after a long drive from Melbourne couldn't have been easier. They were only ever a phone call away but we didn't even need to call through, everything was already sorted. Perfect place for 2 to explore Sydney.

I'm a technology founder who loves to travel with my girlfriend Melissa. We found on out latest trip to South America that Melissa in Spanish means the Honey Bee. So that nickname has stuck (excuse the pun) I guess. In Sydney we love to go out and can recommend some great places to eat or go out drinking. Our place in Darlinghurst is right in the perfect location.
