Our beautiful, well-lit 3 bedroom apt has 1 room to let. It comfortably fits 2 people, and is located above Mar Mikhael - the new "in" area of Beirut. Large balcony + roof, wonderful views of sea/mtns., 'chefs' kitchen, internet, local park/library, washer-dryer, grt location
Your room is a favorite for guests at our home. It's decor is minimal but warm, and it has a great writing desk and view to the port. I say 'OUR' home because I share the house with my partner, and our dog Yoko (*see below)
The house itself is split into one large common living room and salon - with a great library and lots of light throughout the day. The 3 bedrooms are accessed through the salon.
We have the entire roof and a huge balcony out back that has the feeling of being in a treehouse with the surrounding foliage. The area we live above Mar Mikhael is buffered from the noises that are all around. We have 2 full bathrooms, a great kitchen with new appliances.
The guest will have his/her own house key, and can use the house as if it were their own. You will have your own linens, towels, and can always wash and dry your clothes with our machine whenever you like.
You will have internet at your disposal, and there are no curfews but we ask you to be considerate if you're out late.
We are freelancers and have set up our offices in our home - so we are in and around the house and neighborhood on most weekdays and tend to look for activities out of Beirut on weekends.
WE ALSO HAVE A DOG who is perhaps the greatest on the planet - and is with us during the week and then goes to the mountains on weekends. Her name is Yoko.
The neighborhood is technically called Rmeil/Geitawi and we are directly above the new hot spot Mar Mikhael. It's a super friendly neighborhood that has managed to avoid the rampant development of the rest of Beirut. It has a great (*and super rare) park and public library nearby, and has local shops for ALL of your shopping needs - bread, dairy, fruits and veggies, meats, etc.
It's a gem of a neighborhood in Beirut!
Getting around Beirut from our home is incredibly easy. You are literally 2-mins above the bars, restaurants and clubs that now dot Mar Mikhael. You're just down the street from SoHo-like Gemmayzeh bar and restaurant district - you're 8 mins away from the Beirut Art Center, and a whole host of other galleries like Running Horse, Sfeir-Semler, Art Lounge, and other specialty shops like Plan B and notably Papercup Bookstore.
I'm a music journalist and record collector so there's always plenty of music in the house. We're also really connected to the cultural and social scenes in Beirut so we're good guides and often have people over for pre-party affairs.
This is the ideal Airbnb experience. The house is fantastic and the hosts are even better. Jackson and Lamia are not only welcoming and fun to be around, they know the city extremely well and will steer you towards Beirut's best, whatever your interests. The house is centrally located for getting throughout Beirut, but you will not want to leave the area. Geitawi is simply the best area of Beirut for wandering, exploring and, if it suits you, partying.
You will truly feel at home in their place, as well. It has ample space and is furnished to make you feel comfortable and at home. Plus, the light on the balcony and roof terrace are the perfect place to have a morning coffee and look out over Beirut and the sea.
In short, I had a great time and I made three new friends (including Yoko, their wonderful dog) during my stay.
I had the privilege of staying at Jackson and Lamia's beautiful apartment. It's everything they describe it to be, plus much more. It's spacious, light, well decorated, and well located. Jacks and Lamia are very easy going, they helped me out with any questions I had, and made me feel at home from the moment I stepped into their apartment. They made my two weeks in Beirut an unforgettable experience, and when I returned in Amsterdam I felt homesick:-)
