Picardy: Picardy is located in the northern part of France. Picardy stretches from the long sand beaches of the Somme estuary in the west to the vast forests and pastures of the Thiérache in the east and down to the chateaux of Chantilly or Pierrefonds near the Paris Area and vineyards of the border with Champagne (Champagne picarde) to the south. An important agricultural region of France, Picardy has a diverse natural environment consisting of 40 km of coastline, many rivers, marshes and ponds and lakes, forests, and pastures. It is a favorite region of France for hiking, horseback riding, hunting and fishing, bicycling, canoeing and kayaking, sailing, sand yachting and other outdoor activities.

Somme: We are located in the department of Picardy called the Somme, named after the Somme river. The Somme was the site of a series of battles during World War I, and is most noted for the prominent use of trench warfare. Particularly significant was the 1916 Battle of the Somme. As a result of this and other battles fought in the area the department is home to many military cemeteries and several major monuments commemorating the many soldiers from various countries who died on its battlefields, particularly those of England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Canada, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand. We are less than 30 minutes (35 km/21 miles) from Cantigny, site of the first American offensive of World War I. One of the largest Chinese cemeteries of WWI is located within 30 minutes.

Village of Fossemanant: Rural village with less than 100 inhabitants, only two short streets converge on a small medieval chapel. A few residents still farm, cows and horses are commonly found grazing in the surrounding fields!

Climate: It is characterized by frequent rainfall, moderate winters and summers. Summer temperatures range from a high of 77°F (25°C) during the days to a low of 50°F (10°C) during the night. Winter temperatures reach a high of 55°F (13°C) daytime to a low of 35°F (2°C) at night. Snow is rare.

Nearby activities: trout-farm fishing (500 meters/1600 ft), hiking (60 meters/200 ft to old railroad line turned nature path 17 kilometers/10.5 miles long, the “Coulée Verte”), surrounding rivers & ponds, golf (10 km/6 miles), tennis, horseback riding (8 km/5 miles), cycling and mountain bike, petanque, ice skating, water sports, public swimming pools, amusement parks (Disney, Asterix, St Paul...), bowling, cinema, shopping, airport for small aircraft (20 km/12,5 miles), museums, Jules Verne, castles, wildlife preserves and bird sanctuaries (Baie de Somme), seaside resorts, casinos, medieval villages, World War I & II monuments, museums & cemeteries, shopping (factory outlet stores), steam locomotive, children’s farm, land sailing

One of the nicest BnB properties we have stayed at, and Celine went an impressive extra mile to welcome us and make sure we were well set for our stay. A nice combo of relaxing in the quiet countryside with short drive to Amiens or other tourist sights. We highly recommend.

Celine and Craig made us feel at home before we even arrived. Our flight landed at CDG in the morning and we texted to let our hosts know we were on our way. As it was Sunday, Craig offered that we should do any grocery shopping on the way because stores close at 12:30 on Sunday. Thankfully, we heeded his advice and found a grocery and bakery before it was too late. Though we arrived early due to our flight timing, we were able to access the beautiful property and relax in the house as Celine finished preparations. Hidden behind the main gate in the tranquil town of Fossemanant is a beautiful garden and front porch area. We quickly made ourselves at home and unpacked a good lunch of meats, cheeses, fruit, and bread that we bought along the way. Craig and Celine maintain a pristine, up-to-date property with all the amenities of home. The front and back yards are beautifully landscaped and inviting for families with kids. We enjoyed simple food preparation in the modern kitchen and comfortable furnishings throughout. We enjoyed meeting Craig and Celine's daughters, who delivered fresh croissants in the morning. All in all, they're a wonderful family, responsive to guests' needs, and solicitous with advice on the local sights and activities. Thanks for helping make our trip fantastic.

This house is quiet and secluded in a great location to relax in the amazing Picardy region. Great location for the Western Front and Amiens. The amenities that are available in the house are fantastic and the hosts were happy answering any and all questions.

Celine and Craig communicated well with us before we arrived, welcomed us warmly, explained all the features of the house and even had a welcome hamper and croissants for us! Their home is well eqipped, comfortable, clean and (important in winter) warm. We hope to visit again in summer to enjoy the lovely yard. Great location for visiting Amiens and World War 1 sites. Highly recommended!

We had a very relaxing stay, enjoying the local views and walking the area. We also travelled around visiting the Western Front memorials, tasting champagne in Reims and the stunning light show at Amiens Cathedral. Celine and Craig are gregarious and attentive hosts who are keen to make your stay a pleasant one.

We had a lovely one night stay at Celine and Craig's house and everything was perfect. The location is ideally placed to Amiens. Don't miss the restaurants on the canals and the light show on the Cathedral at night.
