About this listing
Centrally located, this one bedroom apartment is ready to show you a true San Francisco experience. The neighborhood has a wide range of restaurants, small shops and bars reflecting the melting pot of cultures.
The Apartment is located on the second story of a two story building, above a popular art Gallery in the Tenderloin. When it's not rented for airbnb, the space houses international artists that show at the gallery. The space is ideal for 2-4 people, with two queen beds in the bedroom.
There is a large roof which guests are welcome to enjoy from 6am-10pm, like a backyard space. We enjoy lunching on the roof regularly and live in the second apartment across the hallway. The roof is shared, otherwise the apartment is private.
Interaction with Guests
Because we also live in the building, we can be accessed easily for inquiries or recommendations. We also enjoy privacy and can respect yours, so friendly hellos in the hallway are fine and you can be left to enjoy your adventure.
The neighborhood is vibrant, with a mixture of residential and commercial buildings. There are tons of places to eat and drink and explore without being too "touristy", it feels like a true San Francisco neighborhood.
Public transit runs all around the area. We are very central, everywhere that you want to get to in the city is most likely walking distance or a short bus ride.
Other Things to Note
There is street parking in the neighborhood which is metered from around 9 am to 6 pm, and a few different parking garages close by that charge around $25/day.
Helen was a very nice host. She replied to our questions rapidly and gave us all the needed information upon arrival.
The apartment is as shown in the pictures and clean. We enjoyed the little rooftop which is nice when there is a sunny weather. There are unique artwork, but some might not be convenient for a family with kids. The WiFi was not working very well but an Ethernet cable is available for your computer in the living room. There were also two cute cats (but my friends didn't really liked them hahaha).
Concerning the location, it is very central and only a few minutes away from Union Square. The neighborhood was quite tough for me, especially by night but if you walked a few block away, it was better. For some the sounds of the city street at night might be an issue but Helen provided earplugs.
Nice location to the downtown which we enjoyed. The loft was very comfortable. Helen was a very gracious host. Parking was a struggle but probably expected due to location. I liked the sounds of the city street at night but might not be for everyone.
We could not imagine a better place to stay in Los Angeles. Well equipped, charming and very central. Helen was a great host.
Helen made us feel like home at the second we arrived and was friendly all along our stay, even when we lost the keys...
The apartment is as described at the atmosphere very pleasant. The only point of attention is the noise coming from the street below. The earplugs provided by Helen were very welcome.
