The Space

This is one of the least expensive entire house rentals on airbnb or (website hidden) in this area....maybe the least expensive for an entire house. This listing of my 3 bedroom house is for a 4 night to 8 night rental during the time period from July18th-July 26th (night of the 25th)....I return on the 26th....special price $135/night ($875/wk) with 1-2 occupancy + $10 for each additional person above 2. A cleaning fee of $100 is also charged that can be returned if house is left as clean as you find it....I am very fair about this. And I ask airbnb to collect a $200 damage deposit. This will be returned unless there is damage.

Come stay and enjoy this beautiful property in Northern California's Sonoma County. I have prepared a document called, WHERE THE LOCALS GO, that is emailed to every guest who books, so you will be prepared on arrival for exploring this glorious gem, Western Sonoma County.

This entire home will be available for some lucky group for 5-8 nights during the time I am renting it. These are the only times the house will be available. But if you want to stay longer or come earlier than these dates and you can stay in the 2 bedrooms I usually rent on airbnb before or after I leave on the dates above, we can work out these details and the cost for a mutually agreed upon and then I can send you a special offer.
Send me a message after you book the house under this listing and we can book the rooms for the nights you need.

These days have been warm and sunny and the garden here is always beautiful even in the WInter! Nights are cool.....days have been in the 60s, nights in the 30s. Experience sitting in the hot tub under the stars and getting so toasty warm even in these cold nights ..... this is a wonder and guests love it!

The house garden and the nearby winery gardens are always beautiful! The house is private, far back from the road and the yard and gardens are beautiful & super quiet. Enjoy the outside seating areas that are very relaxing for sitting & reading in the morning or afternoon sun or shade. Sit on the BBQ patio with the firepit and the friendly 6-7 resident Anna's Hummingbirds will hum by and feed at the many nectar feeders. We have nesting swallows and Western Bluebirds in the Spring and Summer and big groups of migrating Goldfinches in the Fall. There are Red-tailed and Red-shouldered hawks and Great-horned and Barn owls around every day and night year-round. We have a Townsend's Warbler nesting on the property and visiting the feeders.

You can walk on the country roads just outside the driveway. There's a nursery about 1/2 mile walk up the road that specializes in California native azaleas & rhododendrons with a pond and seating and trails...beautiful! And Sebastopol has lots of walking trails and bike paths. There are 2 bikes available for your use. The two bikes to use...one has 21 gears and the other has none.

I have soft or foam coolers, ice, stadium chairs, 2 bikes (one a cruiser) and some more things you can borrow to use while exploring this area. Leave that stuff at home, avoid the baggage charges and be sure to ask for what you need when here.

There are 3 bedrooms. The master bedroom has a Double bed, medium firm with foam on top. Another bedroom has a double bed, medium soft with a memory foam topper and the third bedroom has a new double bed and it has a medium firmness. The Master Bedroom is quite large and the other 2 bedrooms are smaller rooms with higher ceilings. All rooms in the house have skylights.

There is one luxury 200 square foot bathroom with double sinks, bathtub and separate shower stall. This is the only bathroom in the house. This bathroom is shared with one outside tenant who uses this bathroom. He has a shower and sink but no commode in the outside bath. I rarely see him as he works long hours and is away most of the time. We all knock for the bathroom and it has always worked out. There is a hot tub on a patio outside the bathroom door. Bring a swimsuit for soaking in the tub out under the stars.

There are 2 other rentals on this property. The one bedroom house is rented by a single woman. The single man mentioned above lives in the second small room/house in the garden behind the main house.

There is a good wi-fi connection. There are more photos online at homeforexchange search Property ID number 4445 on the advanced search option.

My cat is lovable and sweet. She has a cat door to the outside gardens from the Master Bedroom. And she has automatic watering and feeding. She is felinely independent and sleeps 95% of the day.... expert rester and super soft for cuddling. "Friendy" does roam the house but not the 2 bedrooms on the other side of the house from the master bedroom....they are free of any pet exposure. She has to have access to her cat door to go in and out of the house as she has no interior cat box. She can howl early in the morning so if you want to rise late, leave her in the Master Bedroom where she has her food and water.

There are superb restaurants nearby, both budget and gourmet. Many use local, organic vegetables. Sebastopol has 3 Japanese restaurants, 2 very good Thai restaurants, the best vegetarian restaurant in the county, Slice of Life, a Mediterranean restaurant, East West Cafe, and numerous muy sabroso Mexican taquerias and gourmet restaurants. As well we have a French organic restaurant, The French Kitchen and another organic California cuisine establishment, Peter Lowell's. Petaluma has The Sunflower Cafe, the gluten-free, raw & cooked foods, home of Lydia's Raw Food Products....a super yummy restaurant to treat yourself! It's only about 10 miles from here. And now Sebastopol has a smaller version, Lydia's Express!

The famous wood-fired brick oven gourmet bread bakery in Freestone, Wild Flour Bread, is on the road to Bodega Bay where you can buy cheese, olive, fennel and other savory breads as well as sweet ginger, pear and other sweet whole grain delicacies. People flock here from all over the Bay Area.

Rent a sea kayak in Jenner at the mouth of the Russian River (one of the most beautiful places on the planet) or in Marshall and then kayak on Tomales Bay for two of the best nearby sea kayaking destinations.

This home is in the middle of Wine Country in a small progressive town with interesting people & events. There is a local Sebastopol stage theater, Main Stage West and a community Center with dances and performances. There are amazing restaurants in this town....a food producing center for decades and if you love food and wine, you will love this town.

This is an affordable and pleasant accommodation for visiting friends and family or wedding guests. And this is a great stopover for people traveling or those wanting to explore Sonoma County or the San Francisco Bay Area. The Golden Gate Bridge is 55 miles south on 101, the Russian River resort area & the Pacific Ocean/Bodega Bay is 1/2 hr drive & Santa Rosa is a 10-15 minute drive. We're 4.5 miles from Route 101, off Route 116 West.

Sebastopol is a farming community. I was first introduced to this area in the early 80s, while living in San Francisco and coming up here to buy at organic farms. There are wonderful farms here with local vegetables, fruits, mushrooms, various local cheeses, berries, hayrides, wool. Many farms are organic and some are U-Pick farms, see farmtrails online. There is a small but wonderful Farmer's Market here on Sundays, 9-1pm.

As well, nearby Sonoma County has great hiking, biking, birding, big redwood trees, coastal trails, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, hot air ballooning, antique shops, Open Art Studio weekends, Celtic Music Festival, Apple Festivals Parades & Festivals in Spring and late Summer, Petaluma Victorian home tours, theaters and great restaurants! There are over 100 wineries within a 30 minute drive.

Sebastopol has a few wonderful wine tasting shops, my favorite is The WIne Emporium on Main Street. If you want to tour wineries and have someone else drive (this is the best idea) try Wine Country Journeys LLC from $99/pp door to door. For balloon rides see BALOONTOURS online. Do both of these trips and have a fabulous wonderful weekend of fun! Why go anywhere else? Sonoma County is THE TOP! Every time I travel and return I think, "What a charmed life I live in this paradise! ---my home and this beautiful area!"

Total cost is $135/night ($875/wk) 1-2 occupancy, $10 extra pp ....4 night minimum plus a $100 cleaning fee (which could be a deposit if you clean the house to as found). An extended stay is possible up to 10 days but that will mean I will be in my master bedroom. If you need to stay for more nights, The Hawaiian Room and The Baja Room will be available for the days before and after I return home for a lesser price depending on how many are in your group.

Come and enjoy my home for your vacation here in California's beautiful Sonoma County.

Guest Access

Entire house including full use of kitchen and BBQ, garden, hot tub, driveway, luxury bathroom, patio, firepit, deck

Interaction with Guests

When you rent the entire house I will be available by phone or email immediately unless I am on a remote adventure trip. Summer of 2014 I will be on an Alaskan cruise so probably available for some emails and calls. There will be the 2 tenants here in the back houses if you have a question. I will always have a backup person you can call for questions when I am not accessible. I have prepared documents about the area for exploring the area and for house systems management, including people to call is something unforeseen happens and the house needs care.

The Neighborhood

Walkable country roads, quiet neighborhood, post agricultural but still some horses, sheep. Lots of birds, about 10 Hummingbirds, nesting Barn Owls and lots of resident birds.

Getting around

You will need a car here unless you have a bike and are used to using it for transport. There is one local bus per day about a 1/2 mile walk away and 5 miles to the Golden Gate Transit buses to San Francisco, 6 miles to Airporter to SFO and OAK.

Other Things to Note

Leave hard and soft coolers, beach chairs, shampoo, conditioner, soaps, towels at home....all these you can use here. Ask for anything else you might need....over the counter medications for surprise colds, tinctures and more.

  • Vicki's place was perfect for my friend and me during our recent visit to Sebastopol. Vicki was out of town so we didn't get to meet her, but she was very gracious in having everything ready for us. The house was clean and welcoming, and provided just the ambience we wanted for our stay! We loved the spacious main living space and spa-like bathroom, beds were very comfortable. And Friendy the Cat added her sweet presence to make the stay complete.

  • Vicki Smith's home in Sebastopol was a peaceful, golden refuge for us, while visiting family in Northern California. Her appreciation for the natural world is reflected in the glorious plants, bird feeders, gardens, and a hot tub under the (website hidden) is a tranquil home, decorated artfully and comfortably by a woman who goes out of her way to care for her guests. Vicki has created a guide with the most wonderful places to visit, eat, shop, hike, and kayak. At the end of each day, we were happy to come "home" to this place of peace and hope to return soon.

About
Happily retired from construction. Love sharing my Sonoma County home with visitors. Been traveling lots in the last years when I am not volunteer teaching English and playing and performing ukulele. I'm a proud Mom and Grandma and am appreciating my 3 childrens' growth into lovely humans. I am open to exchanges especially with people who have stayed here already. I especially like to travel to Loreto, Baja California Sur, Mexico (that's one place but a mouthful!). I kayak in Baja and in the SF Bay Area. I do publicity for the company that I worked for as a sea kayak guide in the early 90s and love telling anyone about Baja, Paddling/Saddling South, the outfitter who I represent and kayaking and riding mules up to the Central Baja Great Mural Cave Art.....beautiful! I also like to travel....my trips in the last few years include Ireland, The Amazon, Amsterdam, England and Wales, Baja California, Costa Rica, Dominica, Belize, Vancouver, Yosemite, Hawaii, Cancun and Tulum, Mexico City, San Miguel de Allende, Puerto Vallarta, Phoenix and Sedona, Big Sur Coast, Vermont. My latest passion is playing the ukulele and singing with local groups at jams, practices, sing-a-longs and performances. And I love hosting folks from airbnb.
