Arrive when you need and come and go as you please. Guests receive one FREE glass of wine/beverage coupon per person at the recently opened Aliment restaurant just downstairs. This is a great spot if you are attending a convention at Moscone Center too.
We have a 3 night minimum but are willing to discuss specific options or needs. Please feel free to contact via email or message. If you like your privacy and prefer to be more autonomous, this is a great rental for you.
About the unit: This SF apartment is in a classic building on the first floor. Minimal stairs to get to unit. Yours has charming window doors that open to the fire escape and views of the urban landscape and street life. It is a lovely unit that has been freshly painted and furnished. There is built in heat and no air conditioning. (Air conditioning is very unusual to have in SF and rarely needed). Your unit gets great southern sun exposure and we have provided fans in those few weeks when we get our "Indian Summer" here in SF. **This is right in the heart of SF downtown. There is street and urban noise to be expected. If you are a very light sleeper, this may not be a great spot for you. There are fresh earplugs in the bathroom cabinet, please grab a pair if you need. We also have shampoo, conditioner and body soap in the shower. And a blow dryer in the bathroom cabinet as well.
Connectivity: We have wifi and wifi tv with multiple cables if you need to hook up your laptop. Bluetooth speaker for playing your own music via laptop, ipad or phone.
Snacks and sundries: There is a corner store downstairs as well as numerous small groceries within 1/2 block for purchasing small food items and sundries. Use your free drink/beverage coupon downstairs and if you like the feel... enjoy their great weekend brunch and dinners.
We've given you the basics to start with and if you need anything else that you would expect to find at a short term rental unit, please let us know. We are newly listing this on Airbnb and want you to be happy. Please contact us with any issues or concerns.
The apt is completely private and yours for the duration of your reservation. There are laundry machines available. ..but hopefully you can spend your time in SF doing the fun stuff instead of washing clothes.
This is a very autonomous unit. It is unlikely we will see each other but I am happy to give you info and tips about San Francisco and surroundings. If you have special interests or specific shopping needs, please do not hesitate to ask. I've lived in SF a long time and can likely give you some insider info. SF is known for being edgy... we've got something for everybody.
Coded doors for main building and for apartment. No keys needed.
About the building: The building is original SF multi-unit apartment building built in 1911. It has a much photographed main entry with fanciful details. There are 18 apartments in total on 3 floors. There is a great original elevator with the cage and gate. You don't need to use it to get to your apartment, but it is kind of cool. The interior of the building is freshly painted and is clean and crisp.
Interaction with Guests
Though so many of my guests seem like such interesting people... I have yet to meet any of them. They are here and then gone and their comfort within the space and enjoyment of it shows in their reviews. Thanks to everyone for taking care of the place like your own. We appreciate those guests who pile up their towels and linens, ready for the cleaning staff to replace. If you use the baby equipment please pack it back up so it is ready for the next guest who may not have kids. Thanks.
This neighborhood is really in the heart of the action. You can visit the touristy things. .. We do too. Or you can stroll out the door of the building looking and feeling like a local.
Nearby: You really are in the heart of the city and within 2 blocks you have just about anything you could want: Union Square and all the shopping you could want: bus lines, car rental agencies, theatres and clubs, too many restaurants to count, boutique stores, art galleries plus the Financial District and Chinatown too. Cable cars - 2 blocks. Day spas and salons - 2 blocks. Hotels with rooftop views for a drink - 2 blocks. Apple Store, Macys, movie theatres, BART station and more... OK, that is about 5 or 6 blocks.
You are completely surrounded by public transportation at this unit. Busses and taxis going in every direction. Plus the cable car stop is one block away. Open the windows and you may hear the famous cable car bells ringing. BART station is 7-10 min walk and from here you are within walking distance of so much of what you will likely want to see.
There is no parking with the unit and is metered and non-metered parking in the surrounding neighborhood. There are numerous parking garages nearby for avg $25/day. This is not a super car friendly area being so close to shopping district and downtown.
Other Things to Note
Laundry & parking: There are laundry machines in the building if you feel the need to wash your clothes. There is some laundry soap in the hall closet. Street parking only. This is a great place if you are enjoying SF using public transportation or renting a car to get out of town.
This is a multi-unit building and relatively quiet. Please respect the neighbors privacy and keep the noise level down.
It's a lovely apartment at a great location! I will definitely be returning there. We didn't meet Sandra, but she was kind enough to let us in prior to the agreed hours, due to our fight schedule. She also left us a bottle of wine and two drink coupons for the bar downstairs. (I highly recommend dining there, so delicious!)
Location was ideal for a trip to the city with close proximity to the BART and numerous MUNI lines. Within 3 blocks of the apartment there are enough activities to fill an entire trip to SF.
Sandra was great! Totally recommended. I had to book a trip very last minute, and she got all of the details to me without any effort on my part. She even left a bottle of wine and a couple drink coupons for the little wine bar downstairs. The neighborhood is centrally located and safe. You're a couple blocks from China Town and a 15-20 minute walk to the bay.
The apartment was exactly as pictured. Great location, and close to everything touristy. We stayed for 4 nights and travelled with our 10 month old. Sandra was great with communications and left us a play pen and high chair to use. The apartment was clean and exactly what we needed as we had a baby. There is street noise, but That wasn't such a bother. (White noise machine was great for thta) The music from the restaurant downstairs was a bit loud as we went to bed early (as we have a baby) but the music did stop around 10:30/11 so if you go to bed after that you wouldn't be bothered by that. (Sandra did tell us that music could be heard so it wasn't a surprise - again she was very clear) The windows were also a bit strange as there are no screens so we didn't feel comfortable leaving the windows open with a baby crawling around so it was a bit warm at night. Other then those two things (which are specific to our situation as we travelled with a baby) everything was so great and I would highly recommend this rental!
Accommodations: Upon arriving we quickly felt at home at the apt. and was exactly what we wanted and expected. The bed was comfy and the sounds of the city lulled us to sleep. There were two balconies that we opened up the windows on and took in the delicious smells and city sounds. The basics (kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, closet, etc.) was ample and more spacious than the other places we stayed on our visit. We ate out and didn't make any use of the kitchen except for storing bottles of water. If you ate in, you'd be missing out on SF, but the kitchen is ample.
Location: The apartment was just outside the hustle and bustle but within a block or two you could be in the thick of it. I highly recommend staying at The Nob because it's centrally located between all the major things we wanted to see, do, and eat. The cable car is one street over, the BART is 10 minute walk down a hill, or Uber around for >$10 a ride. Within 5 minutes you can be in Chinatown, lots of large departments stores nearby, Union Square, Powell Street, Market Street, and so much more.
Communication and Host: Sandra (our host) was super sweet and very quick to respond to our questions by providing clear and detailed information to all of our needs. In fact, she anticipated most of our questions. At our first visit she gave literally step-by-step instructions to access our apartment. So nice after a day of traveling with our suitcases. We arrived early and Sandra let us drop our stuff off early so we could explore. So awesome!
Without a doubt we would stay here again.
Note: We stayed at Sir Francis Drake, Monterey/Big Sur, and here. Out of the three places we stayed this was our favorite.
This apartment was perfect for my visit as a single female in a brand new city. Clean, comfortable, exactly the way the pics depict it. Utilize the fans in the apartment and you'll control temp easily. The bed is super comfy with lots of fluffy pillows. There is some street noise (duh) so bring your earplugs as any traveler should. The keyless entry was a wonderful perk.
The neighborhood was very comfortable for me to be alone in and the people who own the convenience store below are great. Farm:table, The Big 4, and Beanstalk cafe were my favorite restaurants near the apartment.
Sandra was a lovely host and I wish I could have stayed longer to take advantage of all the great travel tips she had! I will definitely be returning to this spot.
We arrived to a clean and cozy apartment with vouchers for drinks at a nearby restaurant cafe. This home is at the base of Nob Hill, which is minutes from China Town, the financial district, as well as great shopping! The home is literally right above a small convenience store which is very convenient to grab a snack, some hygiene essentials, and some beers. There is also a laundromat right across the street. The wifi wasn't working for most of our stay, but we actually fixed it. Its very fast! 65mb/s The price for our stay was significantly lower than even surrounding modest hotels, so it was a great deal for us.
Probably the biggest downside is the original oil heaters which made loud banging noises every morning at 5am which was frustrating.
Regardless, we truly enjoyed our stay here and loved the location where the home is located. We would stay at Sandra's home again for our next San Francisco visit!
This unit is mostly rented out and available to friends. I have lived in the city for many years and know it quite well. I run around the city alot with my kids and know some about most of the areas. Our online guidebook gives you a lot of good info on the area along with great online links for local deals and I am quickly available via email or text to answer any questions. Please try to keep it during normal waking hours unless it's an emergency, thanks.
We love to travel, but don't do as much as we'd like right now with kids in school, etc. Sayulita, Mexico is one of our favorite destinations. Helping people have a good experience in San Francisco is very satisfying. Letting them know some local ins and outs that they might not find otherwise. Helping them find that special store, event, etc that they're looking for makes the effort worthwhile.
San Francisco is known for it's food culture and there are so many great restaurant and dining experiences. I like to go to the Food Trucks and see what they're offering up. Easy and casual. Great for meeting up with friends.
I speak some Spanish and French and can get quick help from a friend if you have detailed questions.
