Come join us in a cool house located on a safe historic street! Each room has its own bathroom, terrace and living room. It's close to the metro and walking distance to three of our favorite places - Flamengo Park, Lapa and the center of Santa Teresa. Feel welcome!
We are located on a safe street in an historic district - right between Glória and Santa Teresa. The house is convenient to many of Rio's attractions, and is a nice walk into the heart of Lapa or Santa Teresa. It's also very close to Flamengo park, a beautiful place to walk, bike, and enjoy the scenery and beach. It's a 10 minute walk to the metro station and lots of buses, so you can easily visit any of the city's beautiful beaches and many wonderful sights!
Our house has comfortable rooms, clean private bathrooms, a big kitchen with all of the pots and pans you need to cook your own meals, and, of course, WIFI! We also have a nice old record player with a bunch of Brazilian records and an extra skateboard to lend. The house has just 3 rooms (we live in one!) and lots of comfortable common areas throughout the house. Best of all, there are three gorgeous terraces with beautiful views and lots of space to sit in the sun, relax, socialize, or eat.
We live in the house, and we love to take our guests with us to lots of different events and places in the city, from street samba to fruit and vegetable markets. Feel free to join us for a slice of daily life in Rio!

To stay at Sarah's house was great fun. She was very kind with us when we arrived two hours late from the airport. We went to a samba event together and also met Andre who does know his way around Rio so very well. Staying up late on the balcony was a blast. I very much recommend this guest house!
Sarah & Andre were perfect hosts; helpful, accommodating & generous with their time. They're both very smart & funny people which makes it a pleasure to be in their home. The house is older & charming with plenty of space & privacy which was great for us as a couple (arriving from a hostel). There were some maintenance issues which we were made aware of upon check-in however they were either not major or near resolution anyway e.g. hot water... not needed!! The neighbourhood & surrounding areas were very safe & easy to get around - enjoy.
Sarah and Andre are so, so supernice! Their place made us feel at home directly and it really is a cool house. It's clean and has everything you need during your stay. It was really pleasant that they both speak perfectly English but also know everything you need to know about Rio. Big bonus: Andre taught me how to make a perfect caipirinha!
Merci pour tout!
André and Sarah were top hosts, very welcoming and helpful in every way possible, and the house is just perfect. We loved our stay in Rio and hope to come back someday.

I stayed at Sarah's place for four nights and I had a fantastic time!!! The location was so convenient in walking distance to the metro stop in Gloria, on a very safe and quiet street. Perfect for exploring Santa Teresa, Gloria, and Lapa. The house was super cute and very spacious, with beautiful terraces and art work. I would definitely stay again!
I stayed at Sarah's place together with a friend for four nights. The flat had everything we needed. Lots of privacy, space and charm. Sarah took very good care of us and it pretty much felt like staying at a friend's house - a perfect way to start a vacation in Brazil. Also, the neighborhood is safe, the area is central with short distance to Gloria metro station and Lapa. I recommended the place, indeed, and would love to stay here again!
Great place to stay in Rio, perfect location and amazingly quiet. The room is nice and its terrace is stunning. Sarah and André are fantastic people, very helpful and always ready to make of your stay a great experience. 5 stars all around.
This is truly a wonderful place to stay when you are in Rio de Janeiro. We stayed here 7 days and it has been one of the highlights of our South America round trip. The house is located on a hill so you have to be ready to hike a hill when arriving. The backside of the house is turned towards a cliff, which keeps the house cool when it gets hot. The house itself is old and full of charm. It is a one of a kind house full of good surprises. There are two bathrooms and a balcony on each floor - perfect for relaxing during the day and in the evenings. The Wi-Fi was the best we had in Brazil. The kitchen is basic but has all the necessities for cooking yourself. There is a large supermarket 10 min away and a smaller one down the street.
The hosts Sarah and André makes sure that the place is clean and will make your stay the best it can be. They where always ready to help with recommendations and had extensive knowledge about Brazil, Santa Teresa and Rio de Janeiro. They almost made our guidebook redundant. They both speak perfect English.
Santa Teresa is a perfect starting point for exploring Rio de Janeiro and is close to the metro, Lapa (party area) and Flamingo beach. The street and surrounding area where the house is located is safe and we had no problems walking home late at night.
We give this house and its hosts our highest recommendations
We loved our stay with Sarah for a few reasons. First of all, she and her Brazilian boyfriend were extremely welcoming and helpful. They taught us so much about Brazil and Rio, made great suggestions, included us in their lives in many ways. Also, the location was walking distance to the metro (if you don't mind walking up a fairly steep incline) and in a lively neighborhood. It's walking distance to the cafes and restaurants in the popular Santa Theresa neighborhood. We felt perfectly safe walking in the area and keeping our car parked on the street . The price can't be beat either. The apartment is very large and you share the kitchen with Sarah. It is definitely what we would call "funky." If you are a clean freak or are bothered by lots of furniture, cluttered kitchen and a bit antiquated bathroom, then this is not for you. But everything functions well.
We can't say enough about how our hosts really made our stay in Rio special. We had terrible weather but they offered advice and suggestions every day to make it something special.
Great Place to stay with really nice People!!!
Gave us plenty of good informations about Spots to visit and took us Out to some Fantastic areas!!!
Thanks a Lot!!!
