"Cabanas in Paradise" stand true to its name. Our experience at Art and June's was lovely and we would highly recommend it to others seeking a stay off the beaten track of Tulum's strip of beautiful beaches. The only thing to be aware of is that the site is 10 minutes by car from Tulum town and 15 to 20 to the restaurants along the Tulum coast (although there are three places you can eat within walking distance). The distance is not an impediment, but cabs are quite expensive so you should figure that into your budgeting. It would have been nice to have a car to allow more exploring.
We stayed 4 nights in one of Art & June's cabanas and we had a lovely time. They were great hosts and the location was beautiful.
We would love to come back some time.
Absolutely breathtaking...one of the doctors I worked with had recommended airbnb.com and that is what led us to Art's door step...my favorite things include: the view, the private setting, the quaint morning breakfast, the service, the fact the beach and water were just steps away from our door, snorkeling all day right in front of the cabana, amongst many others!!! Art was knowledgable and helpful...I will take my family back there anytime, and I hope it's soon! Oh, it was very safe!! Love, Claire
We loved our stay at June and Art's place. You can't get any closer to the ocean without a floating bed. Art was a gracious and helpful host.
Simple, comfortable, and serene. The bathroom was amazing! Beautiful little beachfront property. The ocean was just a few steps away from our doorstep. No AC.
This might even be a taste of a quieter Tulum before the resort business blew up. This location is safe and somewhat secluded. We liked the fact that we were not staying near the hustle and bustle of all the eco resorts on the main zona costera.
Its a quiet and relatively secluded cove. There seems to be an outer reef protecting the cove from big waves. Most of the cove is still pretty coral-y... so not the best beach for swimming. We made it a daily ritual to go to some of the larger sand-bottom beaches to enjoy the waves. At home, we ate breakfast and gazed at the moon by the calm waters of the cove.
Art is a wonderful man and a gracious host. Our breakfast was waiting for us just outside our room every morning.
We would definitely come back.
Beautiful location and I will be booking again soon.
The cabana we stayed in is right on the beach, with great views of the sea, even from the bed. What a beautiful place to be! Every morning June or Ray left us coffee and tea with a breakfast pastry in front of the cabana and they could tell us more about where to go and what to do in the area. The cabana itself is beautiful, a round building with a tatched roof made of palm leaves.
The only thing we didn't expect is that it's not in Tulum, but just 5 km north of it. This is great, because it's quiter, but it means you need your own transport if you want to go for dinner or visit the ruins in Tulum. We did, so no problem there. But on the map that you get, it appears to be in or near the centre of town.
We stayed here for 5 days, what a magical and beautiful place. After traveling all around Mexico for 5 weeks we couldn't have imagined a more perfect place to complete our holiday. June and Art are fantastic hosts. Breakfast is a treat, coffee and home made pastries outside your cabanas overlooking the Caribbean. Hammoks strung between coconut palms, the ocean right on your doorstep, so quiet and relaxing. A 10 minute walk up the beach to a lovely restaurant located right on the beach, open all day.....we highly recommend staying here!
We had such a wonderful vacation in Tulum! June and Art are very kind and gracious hosts. Thank you for being so welcoming!
The beautiful quite place directly on the beach font and the warm hospitality are a guarantee that I will spend another vacation at the same place. Thanks for a unforgettable vacation.
