This place definitely has the "wow " factor. It is absolutely gorgeous, and the amazing surrounds are stunning , perfect for an afternoon stroll and admiring wildlife ( we spotted a beautiful deer)
We were welcomed by Joachim, who is the ultimate host - friendly, well informed ( on just about anything you want to know about the district and France in general) and really relaxed and professional . He even called a local restaurant to organize a vegan meal for us, which turned out to be one of the best meals we have ever eaten in a restaurant. Our room was stunning, very French and authentic. Breakfast was served in the morning in the big kitchen and was an absolute pleasure, with croissants, juice, fruit, a selection of locally made jams and a baguette . Treat yourself to this experience, we loved it here!
This chateau in Barbirey-sur-Ouche was truly some kind of heaven. Our room was gorgeous, the gardens were bucolic, the croissants and french bread every morning were fresh, and our hosts couldn't have been more welcoming. Our only complaint was that we couldn't stay longer.
My friend and I loved staying at Barbirey Chateau. Everyone was very friendly and the chateau is spacious and airy. The gardens are divine and I wished that we had been able to stay for longer. Maybe next time. Highly recommended. Anna
My (new) fiance and I had an amazing experience with Colas at Chateau Barbirey-sur-Ouche. The home and the gardens are beautiful, and the town is right out of a movie. Colas was extremely helpful, he gave us directions to another village to see a castle and have some dinner after we arrived, and gave us a nice history of his chateau. I would definitely recommend coming here to my friends and the AirBnb community.
Staying at this impressive property in the middle of the most charming Vallee d'Ouche in early March reminded me of one of my favourite movies, Passione d'Amore by Ettore Scola. We were welcomed even late at night by a very motivated concierge, found a burning fire in the reception hall, a spacious, well heated and comfortable room with a huge bathtub, hot water up to my earlobes! In the morning we took a walk through the fantastic parc, along the lakes and through the sleepy kitchen garden in the size of a football field. We will be back in summer!
What a wonderful place to stay! We were made to feel at home straight away. Jean-Bernard took us around the beautiful gardens and house. We were able to have a picnic and glass of wine on the terrace at dusk watching the sun go down over the park. Barbirey is an excellent hub for exploring the Bourgogne. We spent one day cycling to some close Chateaux then the next day driving through lovely villages. We were easily able to access the wine growing area for visits to the vineyards, many of which offer tastings and tours. Our room was beautiful: well appointed, excellent linen and beautiful views over the park. Breakfast was good too- a simple French breakfast with good coffee and pastries/breads. Clemence was incredibly helpful- offering suggestions about where to go, among other things. Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to stay at your beautiful property.
We had an other room (Chambre Verte), but it was cosy and tidy. On the property there is a huge garden with ducks and gooses. it is really lovely. The breakfast is typical french - Croissant, Baguette, Marmelade, Coffee/Hot Chocolate.
We plan to go back there for more days
We had an amazing time staying at Chateau de Barbirey! Colas and Jean Bernard were wonderful hosts and their home was beautiful. They were so welcoming and gave us great recommendations for places to eat and wine tastings. We would love to come back and stay again! Highly recommend this place!!
This place blows my mind. I cannot believe we found such a gem. Everything about this place is magical. Colas and his family are wonderful hosts who treat you like a real guest his their dream home. And I thank them for sharing it with me and if you can book a room here you'd be lucky.
