This quiet, cozy room is an easy walk to the city's best museums, parks, and attractions. Enjoy great dining, shopping, and nightlife. Experience city life with a local flavor and easy access to bus, rail, & subway lines.

The space

This cozy room in an 18th century carriage house features a double bed, antique arm chairs, bureau, a lovely oriental rug, as well as Cable TV and wi-fi. Antique inlaid Japanese screens provide privacy in lieu of a traditional wall in an otherwise open floor plan. The room is located above a working yoga/dance studio. Guests may occasionally hear a class in session or may opt to attend a class if they choose. (Class schedule/pricing is available on request) The space has many unique architectural features including the original wood ceiling beams, carriage lift, skylights, and more. Two adorable cats, Batman and Bella, reside here and are happy to greet visitors but can also be kept separate upon request. There is often free on-street parking available in the neighborhood.

Guest access

Guests will have full access to the bedroom, bathroom, and many shared common areas including a sitting room, living room, and outdoor patio.

Interaction with guests

I love to interact with my guests but am also happy to give them all the space and privacy they desire. Even though my work keeps me pretty busy I am always delighted to share any insights that I have about the neighborhood and this great city!

Other things to note

The space is above a yoga/dance studio so there may be times when classes are being held in the space below. Guests can enjoy the vibe of the classes, move to a quiet room next door, or visit one of the many great cafes or coffee shops in the neighborhood. The space has an oriental feel and one wall of the space features antique Japanese screens for privacy instead of a traditional door. (Feel free to contact me for more specific information regarding the studio schedule.) The bathroom is located in the studio below the room so if mobility is an issue or you typically make frequent trips to the bathroom during the night this may not be the best fit for you.

I couldn't've have found a better place for my first trip to Philadelphia. The arts district location is a walker's dream for getting to know the city on foot, but public transportation is also readily available. This historic space in a quiet leafy neighborhood is full of Valerie's books, eclectic furniture and treasures from around the world, and her yoga studio is conveniently located downstairs. The warmth of her hospitality and easygoing interactions were wonderful. I can't recommend this space highly enough.

Valerie's was my second time staying in an airbnb and to say it was fantastic would be a massive understatement! The location was perfect, super close to multiple museums and downtown Philly. I walked and biked everywhere, nice and safe neighborhood. The room itself and common areas were so unique and well put together! Plus there was huge added bonuses of an outside patio to relax on and two adorable, friendly cats to pet and enjoy some time with. I will be staying here again if I'm ever in Philadelphia!

This is a unique place in an amazing location. I always appreciate places with key code access. The room is decorated with antiques and art from Asia which gives it a unique feel. The bathroom is located far away, on the bottom floor at the back of a yoga studio.

Very unique space in a cozy neighborhood walking distance to some neat attractions and short Uber from the city center. Valerie was a fantastic host and it was a pleasure staying with her. Would recommend to anyone passing through Philly!

This is a fun and zen setting. Lots of extra special touches like water, tea/coffee and fresh fruit in the room. I would definitely stay here again if the need arises.

This place is so humble! Perfect location for exploring Philly. Everything in close distance and the studio itself is gorgeous. I plan to stay again in the future if possible

I'm a yoga, dance, and fitness instructor and I've lived in the Philadelphia Area for over 30 years. I love living in Philadelphia! The city is large enough to have all of the many cultural events, restaurants, and nightlife that I enjoy while having a local, neighborhood vibe. Everything is very accessible by foot or by public transit so a car is optional here. I live in the Art Museum Area and I love to walk or bike in Fairmount Park, enjoy the many restaurants within 5 blocks (This city has really great food!), traveling, meeting all kinds of people, listening to live jazz, etc. I enjoy hearing about my guests experiences, professions and travels. If you happen to love yoga or belly dance classes you might find time to take a class at my yoga/dance studio in Fairmount. I think that you'll love your stay in Philadelphia- looking forward to meeting you!
