About this listing
This quiet, cozy room is an easy walk to the city's best museums, parks, and attractions. Enjoy great dining, shopping, and nightlife. Experience city life with a local flavor and easy access to bus, rail, & subway lines.
This cozy room in an 18th century carriage house features a double bed, antique arm chairs, bureau, a lovely oriental rug, as well as Cable TV and wi-fi. Antique inlaid Japanese screens provide privacy in lieu of a traditional wall in an otherwise open floor plan. The room is located above a working yoga/dance studio. Guests may occasionally hear a class in session or may opt to attend a class if they choose. (Class schedule/pricing is available on request) The space has many unique architectural features including the original wood ceiling beams, carriage lift, skylights, and more. Two adorable cats, Suki and Batman, reside here and are happy to greet visitors but can also be kept separate upon request.
Guests will have full access to the bedroom, bathroom, and many shared common areas including a sitting room, living room, and outdoor deck.
Interaction with Guests
I love to interact with my guests but am also happy to give them all the space and privacy they desire. Even though my work keeps me pretty busy I am always delighted to share any insights that I have about the neighborhood and this great city!
I love this neighborhood! It has a small town vibe with big city attractions. You can walk to Whole Foods or a local coffee shop and run into a bunch of friends or you can enjoy great restaurants, museums, concerts, and major events just a few blocks away. The street is quiet at night but night life is a quick walk or cab ride away. Center City is easy to get to via public transportation and there are great places to walk, hike, or cycle nearby.
There are numerous ways to get around. The No. 33 bus stop is less than a block away and takes you into the heart of Center City, Philadelphia. The subway is 5 blocks away and takes you North and South on the Broad St Line which connects you to routes all over the city. Cabs are easy to access and the whole area is wonderfully walkable.
Other Things to Note
The space is above a yoga/dance studio so there may be times when classes are being held in the space below. Guests can enjoy the vibe of the classes, move to a quiet room next door, or visit one of the many great cafes or coffee shops in the neighborhood. The space has an oriental feel and one wall of the space features antique Japanese screens for privacy instead of a traditional door. (Feel free to contact me for more specific information regarding the studio schedule.)
I want my guests to relax and enjoy themselves. I would request that they leave the place as they found it and take care of it as if it were their own home. Smoking is not allowed inside. No pets are allowed without prior approval. Only guests who have reserved with airbnb are permitted without prior approval.
I'm a yoga, dance, and fitness instructor and I've lived in the Philadelphia Art Museum Area for over 25 years. I love this neighborhood because it is it in the heart of the city's favorite attractions but still has a neighborhood feel. I love to walk or bike in Fairmount Park, enjoy the many restaurants within 5 blocks (This city has really great food!), traveling, meeting all kinds of people, listening to live jazz, etc. I enjoy meeting different people and hearing about their experiences, professions and travels. I have a 2 friendly cats that you might meet but will never be in your space so allergies are not an issue. If you happen to love yoga, fitness, or belly dance classes you might find time to take a class right here at the Studio. Feel free to stop in, stretch out and enjoy your stay in Philadelphia- looking forward to meeting you!
