This quiet, cozy room is just a few blocks from the city's major cultural museums, parks, and attractions. Enjoy fine dining, shopping, nightlife, and the best of city living with a local flavor and easy access to bus, rail, & subway lines.

The Space

The space is cozy and quiet and is furnished with a double bed, CableTV, WiFi access, antique arm chairs, bureau, and a lovely oriental rug. The space is above a Yoga /dance studio so you may occasionally hear a classes below or get a visit from one of my 2 loveable felines-Suki and Batman. (They can easily be kept separate for those with allergies) The space is in a restored carriage house that has a skylight and unique architectural features such as the original Carriage house gears.

Guest Access

Guests will have full access to the bedroom and powder room. Access to the shower area will be shared with owner and may be limited on occasion.

Interaction with Guests

I love to interact with my guests but am also happy to give them all the space and privacy they desire. Even though my work keeps me pretty busy I am always delighted to share any insights that I have about the neighborhood and this great city!

The Neighborhood

I love this neighborhood! It has a small town vibe with big city attractions. You can walk to Whole Foods or a local coffee shop and run into a bunch of friends or you can enjoy great restaurants, museums, concerts, and major events just a few blocks away. The street is quiet at night but night life is a quick walk or cab ride away. Center City is easy to get to via public transportation and there are great places to walk, hike, or cycle nearby.

Getting around

There are numerous ways to get around. The No. 33 bus stop is less than a block away and takes you into the heart of Center City, Philadelphia. The subway is 5 blocks away and takes you North and South on the Broad St Line which connects you to routes all over the city. Cabs are easy to access and the whole area is wonderfully walkable.

Other Things to Note

The space is above a yoga/dance studio so there may be times when the space below is being used for classes. Guests can enjoy the sounds when classes are in session or hang out at one of the many great cafes or coffee shops in the neighborhood. (Feel free to contact me for more specific scheduling information.)

  • Valerie, was a great host ...she greeted me at the door, gave me a complete tour of the house, and pointed out how to get around the neighborhood. She has a lovely home and I would definitely stay there again. The location is fantastic!

  • Communication was good during booking and after. I felt comfortable with the host even before I left for the city. Once there, it was easy walking to an excellent pizza shop for lunch, Rite Aid, bus stop,Starbucks, and Whole Foods- I'm going to miss the soup and salad bar. My 10 yr.old son and I walked to the Academy of Natural Sciences-dinosaurs,Green-screen video room, and great live show and demonstration, Franklin Institute-No waiting lines on this day-the Brain exhibit was very interesting, and (saving the best for last) the Barnes Foundation. He said he wanted to stay an additional day! We took a bus over to the Philadelphia Mint-again no waiting lines, Reading Terminal, and the South Street Mosaic Gardens. Returning to the bnb, we enjoyed a/c, peacefulness, sound rest, and security. I would not hesitate to stay here in the future. Note to Valerie: my son loved your cat "Batman"-he added a soothing touch to our city stay. Thank you.

  • Overall, I had a great experience staying at the Cozy Room. The room I stayed in was comfortable and clean. Valerie was a great host. She was on time for the check-in and throughly explained all of the amenities and procedures for checkout. She even gave me a walking tour of the neighborhood. I highly recommend staying here.

  • Valerie was a perfect host. She welcomed me with a list of places to go in the neighborhood and a tour of her carriage house. The room was perfect for me. Comfortable bed and nice atmosphere. The neighborhood is very special. You can feel the history there with rows of beautiful carriage houses and brownstones on tree lined quiet streets. Valerie took the time to walk me to an area where there were cafes and coffee houses for my Sunday breakfast. She even packed me a homemade vegetarian lunch for my train ride home to CT. That was a nice touch. I would recommend the 'Cozy room" to anyone wanting a nice weekend in Philly.

About
I'm a yoga, dance, and fitness instructor and I've lived in the Philadelphia Art Museum Area for over 25 years. I love this neighborhood because it is it in the heart of the city's favorite attractions but still has a neighborhood feel. I love to walk or bike in Fairmount Park, enjoy the many restaurants within 5 blocks (This city has really great food!), traveling, meeting all kinds of people, listening to live jazz, etc. I enjoy meeting different people and hearing about their experiences, professions and travels. I have a 2 friendly cats that you might meet but will never be in your space so allergies are not an issue. If you happen to love yoga, fitness, or belly dance classes you might find time to take a class right here at the Studio. Feel free to stop in, stretch out and enjoy your stay in Philadelphia- looking forward to meeting you!
