The neighborhood is a lively, fun neighborhood. Many restaurants, bars, nightlife, shopping, as well as playgrounds, parks, free entertainment, jazz. It has everything.
Lenox avenue has great places like Corner Social, Red Rooster, Chez Lucienne. All of which are open late, with outside cafes, so I feel safe walking alone at night.
Harlem is one of the friendliest neighborhoods I lived in, in NYC.
No burning incense. It is very hard to get the smell out.
We were staying at ferris's recently. We knew that we picked the right place to stay. They are all exactly as described. Clean, convenient, etc. It is very near to tourist attractions such as Time square (~7 stations by metro) or even starbucks, subway, convenient store, Red rooster( 5-stars-but-reasonable-price restaurant.must visit this restaurant,it was sooooo good) and metro station (125th street). Ferris is caring, flexible and helpful eventhough we haven't meet eachother. We would definitely re-visit there in the future.
Ferris' apartment is great and well designed. We feel comfortable and safe. We would like to be her guests again next time to New York City
The place is all homy and spacious as says the description. The neighborhood is not overly fancy but convenient in the sense that coffee shop and grocery store (laundromat we also saw) are just around the corner. That would be all I would ask for a short economic visit to a different city.
The apartment was great and spacious enough for the four of us. It has everything you need, from hairdryer to toaster and even a dishwasher! It's easy to get downtown with the 2 & 3 trains which stops just a short walk away from the apt. Just across the street you have a supermarket and nearby there are a lot of different restaurants, cafes and pubs.
Ferris is really kind and helpful if you have any questions or concerns! You won't be disappointed!
I have only been at Ferrie's place for two days. It was on my way to Trinidad and Tobago and I had a stop over in NY. Despite only staying for a minute I felt very welcomed.
Ferries was easy going and very helpful and patience with my 1001 questions ;) thx a lot!!
The flat is on the ground floor so you have to be a bit brave but there is an alarm you can set if that makes you feel better. Also I have felt very safe in the area and I walked home on my own early in da morning
As a non American I felt a bit like in a Spike Lee movie in terms of flats ;)
Most important to me , it was very clean and I felt home very fast
I love the area and will try to come back in summer and for more than just two days
Again thank you very much , it was a great experience
Thank you for letting me know about the noises. I always appreciate feedback, especially things like this, which I'm not aware of. I hadn't realized the fridge is loud. The bathroom vent can be turned off. The HVAC making too much noise is something we will look into. I think they have technology to make them much more quiet.
The Spike Lee movie comment is hilarious!! I never thought of that. On your next trip maybe check out Brooklyn, where the movie was shot. You would like downtown Brooklyn (Fort Greene and Bed-Stuy).
Very nice experience : the apartment is full of all the commodities, nice furnitures and make you feel like at home. Well located in a calm area in Harlem, an area that is getting better and better, lot of life and well served by subways. Our host has been very kind and available to help and provide advices. Definitely a very good experience. Thank to Ferris and airbnb :)
Cool place, very close to subway. Ferris was very accommodating of our travel changes, and we really enjoyed our stay.
Hi I'm a stay at home to 3 awesome kids. My husband and I recently bought and renovated our home. We've lived in NYC for close to 20 years, but just moved to Harlem a few months ago. We LOVE the neighborhood. Great neighbors. Feel super safe even out late at night.
I love to eat out, dance and entertain.
We don't smoke and don't have any pets.
Pretty laid back, so if you have questions or need anything feel free to ask.
When we travel we stay in apartments as oppose to hotels so we know what it's like to be a guest in an apartment. We've had some funny, cool experiences in other places. I hope you like staying at our place
