There are three bedrooms with one queen bed and one double bed. One full contemporary private bath including a shower and deep soaking tub. This second floor suite is waiting for you, your family or friends. Bird friendly coffee and tea, hot water maker included with cotton sheets and towels.
I live in the fourth bedroom with one bath on the main floor and use the side door in my country farm house. Original beams and square nails attest to its antiquity but modern updates make it convenient and comfortable. Off street parking and fenced yard with outdoor fire pit and Adirondack chairs will bring out the Vermonter in you!
Enter through the front door, into your private foyer and ascend the original maple staircase leading you to private bath and three rooms. Living room, dining room kitchen and my space are off limits. Enjoy the fully fenced yard, fire pit (wood provided), chairs and tables.
I love meeting new people but I am an oil painter and I spend most of my time outdoors painting or in my art studio-a sun room. Evenings around the outdoor fire pit or finding me in the garden may be the only time you see me!
The village of South Royalton which lies between Killington and Sugarbush ski areas. Vermont Law School is across the street. It sits on the White River and is surrounded by the Green Mountains: quintessential Vermont-revolutionary history and historic buildings, the birth place of Mormon, Joseph Smith, a favorite for 1920's painters Jo and Edward Hopper (up from NYC) and today it is home to Vermont Law School (VLS)-the number one environmental law school in national ratings.
I like it because it is country living with all necessary amenities within a short walk. Its so close that a bicycle is just too much trouble! Local hikes take off from the town square. Kayak, swim and tube the river in summer.
Vermont local markets are farmer's markets and our co-op is the best for fresh food and ready to-go gourmet meals, a full wine selection and a huge selection of homebrew beers! Don't forget fresh flowers or beeswax candles for dining outdoors on the square during summer concerts, picnicking on pure granite in the White River (while you fly-fish its famous pools) or bring the whole spread back to your own Adirondack chairs by the blazing outdoor fire(green lawn, maple trees and fenced yard).
Visiting professors, skiers, VLS speakers, law student's families will find my accommodations steps away from the Bookstore, Library, and Student Center or classrooms with great skiing down the Hwy89.
Dartmouth and Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center is 20 minutes away as is the Montshire Museum and the Tunbridge World Fair. Saint Gaudens Historic Site and The Marsh-Billings-Rockerfeller Historic Site (Both National Parks) are in the area
Once you arrive, use a Zip Car (Car Share) rentals by the hour. Bus (Dartmouth Coach) or plane (Cape Air) transportation from Boston brings you within 15 minutes of my house. With prior notice, I can offer you a ride to and from public transportation. Free off street parking for two cars at my house.
My house is a retreat atmosphere for study, writing, or finding down-time. Its quiet, spacious, with hardwood floors from the 1800's, and filled with original oil and watercolor paintings. Take one home as a Vermont memory. There are old maple trees and a trim Yankee yard for outdoor R&R. Families and kids are welcome. Kitchen facilities, living and dining room are available while renting the whole house-just ask! Party in the village and return to your retreat for a quiet sleep.
