  • David was very helpful and polite. However, the photos on his website are very misleading in that there is no view from the lanai of the pool, and there is not a beautiful beach anywhere nearby his location, as the beach photo suggests. This is clearly a mild form of false advertising.

The bed was very comfortable even though it is an air bed. There is hardly any room whatsoever in the bedroom for luggage. In fact, David has his desk and office in the bedroom which takes up valuable space and detracts from "your own personal bedroom".

Although David lists the place with ethernet he discouraged me from using it as he says it takes up a lot of electricity to run power on that desk side of the bedroom. I found this to be uncomfortable.

One very big positive was access to the kitchen. David even allowed me to store some of my bread in his refridgerator. The bathroom was also nice and clean.

All in all, I would still recommend staying at David's but be aware of the things I mentioned.

  • David was very friendly and he gladly shared all his great knowledge about what to do and eat in the area. We had a great time.

  • David is a wonderful person. He took time to answer any message and questions before our arrival, called us to make sure everything was fine on our way to his place. He welcomed us just as friends or family. This is what "Aloha spirit" is all about. All good and clear explanations and advices about his house, swimming-pool, spa, BBQ (unfortunately we had no time to enjoy these nice places, since there's so much to do and see outside!), town and all activities around. Nice and very quiet house. He explained us how to adjust the setting but no need: I slept like at home. Dave is also such an interesting person that I spent almost all my evenings there, talking and listening to him and his stories. On our last evening we had the pleasure to have David cook dinner for us (he's such a great cook!). Thanks again Dave and hope you and Margaret can feel as good whenever you come visit us in France! I will definitely try to go back there whenever I travel back to Kailua-Kona, Big Island! And I hope it will be soon...Mahalo!

  • Nice room and a great location. David was very kind and a pleasure to chat with. There is a nice pool and BBQ steps away from the apartment. The mattress was an air mattress but not like any one we had ever slept on before, it's very high off the ground and very comfortable, more so than a lot of normal beds we have slept on.

  • Dave and Margaret were a very helpful couple, they were full of valuable advice on where to go to eat and shop.
The bed is an air matteress but is very comfortable, you can adjust the firmness to your liking.
I would recommend their place to lay your head.

  • David's place was great. Excellent location that is walking distance to restaurants, beaches etc along Ali'i drive, or a very short drive to anywhere you would need to go in Kona. We stayed there for two nights and didn't really cross paths with David until we were checking out (his wife had checked us in), but when we were leaving we ended up having a good chat with him, He was very knowledgeable about the island and made some helpful recommendations for the remainder of our trip. The room was clean and comfortable. Great value for the price.

  • Check in was easy. The room/bathroom was clean and totally as expected. There is no wifi but you plug in the ethernet cable (I didn't need to).

David knows a lot about the island and can give you good tips as for what to do. There is also a selection of guidebooks in the room which you can use as long as you don't take them with you after your stay.

Overall, David was extremely helpful. He even gave me a ride to my next destination.

    Great palce to stay!

  • Check in was easy and David made us dinner since we were coming in late. He made us breakfast one morning also. This was kind and very much appreciated.

David is very knowledgeable about Hawaii and is anxious to share this information and help you decide what to see and where to visit. Maps and guidebooks were provided and this was very helpful.

We stayed one week. The apartment was clean, though small. This listing is for a small bedroom and an unattached bathroom. There is no sitting space other than the bed and there is no TV so we only went there to sleep.

I also should have known to ask if the homeowners were smokers, but didn't. If you are sensitive to cigarette smoke, I would not recommend that you stay here.

  • The house is clean and the neighborhood is beautiful.
It is very convenient to the beach and the stores.
And you will have a private parking lot which is important.
The only thing missing is the hair dryer, but I still highly recommend this place to stay.

  • I had such an amazing time staying at davad's and margo's place there;) David is yes amazing cook and he knows so much about island, life, economy and politics and oh there are so much ppl can learn from this person!
The room is very nice and quiet(air bed is very comfy), bathroom is private and hotel quality. They provide you clean towels and access to nice pool and jacuzzi.

It's about 30min walk from the kona town but beautiful nice walk I did enjoy a lot.(It gets dark at night so not really recomending walking in the night time though)

Overall, I highly recomment anyone to stay at his place and I for sure will be back at his place when I am back in big island! Just because I want to see them and just because the place is amazing;)
    cheers
