About this listing
Quiet house in the heart of The Liberties area of Dublin, less than ten minutes walking distance to the city centre and two minutes from the Guinness brewery!
The room is private with double bed, wardrobe etc. and access to bathroom with shower. The room comfortably holds two people!
Everything in the house is available for your use. Happy to make a joint meal or if you prefer you can use the kitchen to cook something for yourself (as long as you clean as you go!).
We don't own a TV (sorry TV junkies) but we have great wifi and we will most likely be here and available to converse!
We also have a very affectionate border collie (seen in the picture, I'm sure) who loves to play, have his picture taken and really wants to spend his waking life being petted by anyone who looks at him!
Interaction with Guests
We will meet you at the house. We live here, it is out home, so most likely we will be here and available to converse.
We live in an old part of Dublin with a great atmosphere, a market vibe and in a lovely old Dublin home built by Guinness in the 1880s. There are many markets in the area which are great at the weekend. We live a stone’s throw from the Guinness Brewery.
Our house is in very close proximity to buses, luas (tram) and taxis. If going to city centre we are only a ten minute walk away so buses, taxis, etc. aren't necessary. The 747 bus from the airport drops you at Christchurch Cathedral, 5 mins walk from our house!
Other Things to Note
We have a very affectionate border collie. He loves to be the centre of attention, when he doesn't have a treat or carrot in his mouth.
It is a no smoking house, but welcome to smoke outside.
In the past we've had guests let their friends stay, with three people sleeping in the double room. This isn't really on; this is our home, not a hostel. So while friends of guests are very welcome they must leave by 10pm.
Alan and Frank were very kind and helpful, even walking us to our friend's house after arriving and booking a taxi for us for the morning. We also joined them at the pub for a couple of pints and they were very pleasant company and even entertained our philistinism towards the taste of Guinness being better in Ireland (we couldn't tell the difference).
The room is close to town and easy to get to with the help of a map (which they also lent us).
Loved staying in Dublin with Alan and Frank! The house was super clean and is at a great location. Overall we felt very welcomed. They gave us lots of tips and suggestions of where to go and what to do. We would definitely return!
These guys know how to host.
My girlfriend and I visited Dublin for the weekend and the highlight of our trip was staying with Alan & Frank. They made us welcome from the moment we walked in through the door, and by the second day it was as if we'd come to visit old friends rather than guys we had only just met!
Their place is homely, in a great location just 10 mins walk from the city centre, and in a quirky part of town near some fantastic boozers.
Great place and lovely people. Also a special shout out to Miller the dog- he's awesome!
If you're looking for a delightful, comfortable, clean and well-located spot to stay in Dublin, then you've found your place. Alan and Frank were amazing hosts, giving me excellent directions and even calling me a taxi to leave early in the AM. The bed is very comfortable! Their location is easy walking distance to the Guinness Storehouse and also close to Kilmainham Gaol (make reservations ahead of time for this!) I got to hang out with them a bit and meet one of their lovely friends, which was so fun. They told me about the cool places to go in the city and even had maps and info in my room waiting for me. They also had fruit/coffee/tea available for my breakfast and snacking. Thank you both and if you're ever in Seattle, you have a place to stay with me :)
We stayed with Alan and Frank for two nights as a mini break to Dublin and had a great experience with them! They were really friendly and gave some great recommendations for things we should see and places to go etc. The room was cosy and comfortable and the house was in a great spot to explore the city from. We'd definitely recommend the stay to anyone else!
Great Time. Alan and Frank were very nice and understanding about everything. Their place was clean and they had a great place to stay at.
Unfortunately I couldn't meet Alan, but Frank was a great host! The house is really nice and it is located in a wonderful location. It is really clean and it has a really welcoming atmosphere. Me and my boyfriend felt home in this house, and Frank was extremely kind and available!
About the Host, Alan And Frank
We're a down to earth couple, easy going who love to travel, meet people from different countries and cultures, have debates with people about everything under the sun. We've recently moved back to Dublin and are having fun rediscovering the city!
