I really enjoyed my stay at Tiffin Talks. The room was clean and everything was just as mentioned. Khetwan is Thai and John speaks English, so they helped me a lot with directions and whereabouts of places. The place is located in Mae Rim, so you need transport to get to the city. I was travelling solo and I had no car, I hardly faced any problem using the public transport; in fact, I enjoyed travelling with locals as it was a unique experience for me. It is very close to Tiger Kingdom, some elephant ride and orchid museum.
I stayed at Tiffin Talks with my boyfriend and we had a great time. They were extremely accommodating and very friendly. Our plans leading up to Chiang Mai had changed slightly and we needed an extra night in Chiang Mai. Lucky for us, the room was available and we stayed in Mae Rim an extra night.
Tiffin Talks was fantastic and just what we needed after spending two weeks hopping from place to place. The room is large, there is a small balcony an bean bag chairs and Khetkwan does his best to make sure your stay is a good one. I highly recommend staying here if you fin yourself in Mae Rim -or even Chiang Mai, enjoy the city for the day and relax in Mae Rim at night.
On top of renting the room they run a nice restaurant that you can enjoy if you'd like a break from the usual Thai diet of rice and noodles.
Tiffin Talks is situated in a plaza that is nice and quiet at night and also has a food court filled with different Thai food stands if you are addicted to Thai food like me.
While Mae Rim is outside of Chiang Mai city proper, a yellow songthaew gets you into the city for just 20 baht and Mae Rim also has some nice attractions like Tiger Kingdom, an insect zoo, and temples as well.
I went to Mae Rim to see what was here. This room is close enough to the main road and all services. Sight seeing is easy for a day or so (Buddhist temple, Tigers, rice farms, Thai massage, Orchid farms) but you will need transportation to get to mountains, waterfalls, snake farms, etc).
The restaurant serves excellent food at reasonable prices. The market is a few feet away and takes 30 seconds to get food and drink. The room is very nice and large. All tile floors. Bed is a bit firm.
I had great conversations with John. He speaks perfect English and his wife speaks English and Thai. They are very accommodating.
