About This Listing
My tea mountain house is located in a quite mountain village outside of Hangzhou city. The quite village revolves around the growing of the famous LongJing tea. Come here if you want to learn more about tea and traditional Chinese culture.
The house is located within the peaceful mountains of the outskirts of Hangzhou city. It has two spacious bedrooms, one in which I live. The spacious guest bedroom has a big bed (chinese style so perhaps a little hard, but good for you back :), private bathroom (hot water) and toilet. Furthermore the house has a large outside patio, roof terrace, and kitchen, which all can be used.
The guests are allowed to freely use the kitchen, roof terrace, outside patio. I have a washing machine, wifi and free coffee and tea.
Interaction with Guests
As this is my house I will frequently be around. Usually during the weekdays I have work. In my spare time I can show guests around the neighborhood and teach them about my interests in tea culture, calligraphy and Chinese traditional medicine.
My house is located in the quite mountain village 'wengjiashan‘ (翁家山村）a 10 minutes taxi drive from Hangzhou city. The local people all grow the Longjing tea because of the surrounding tea plantations. In the area you can go on many beautiful walks and hikes. Things worth seeing include: ancient buddhist caves, beautiful viewpoints, temples, tea plantations and more. Their are very few tourists around here and the village is quite, which will make your stay very relaxing and peaceful.
The best way to arrive at the village is either by taxi or by local bus.
- By Taxi:
From Hangzhou trainstation you can take a taxi to Manjuelong Road Yangmeiling（满觉陇路杨梅岭） (30rmb), which takes about 20 min
- By Public transport:
From Hangzhou trainstation you must first take busline 'Y2' to Changqiao (长桥）where you have to change onto line '87', where you have to get of at Yangmeiling bus station (杨梅岭). (In total around 1 hour)
If I don't have time to meet you at the bottom of the village you can walk up the main village road for 5 minutes until you see a house with two rooms and a roof terrace. That's the one :)
For getting back into the city center I recommend taking line 87 from the Yangmeiling bus station (杨梅岭) near the village.
Other Things to Note
I will always make a healthy chinese breakfast for the guests in the morning, which is included in the price. If I am around for dinner I also can cook. I like simple, seasonal and healthy chinese food. Good for body and mind :)
For lunch you can either buy stuff at the local village shops and cook at home, or have some in the city.
From Jun 1 - Aug 31, 2015 the minimum stay is 2 nights.
Xiaoming is a gem and her place is incredible. Very peaceful respite up in the mountains just outside the city of Hangzhou. Minimalistic and elegant in a neighborhood full of friendly dogs! Absolutely charming. We had an amazing time around West Lake (quick bus ride to Su Causeway and Leifang Pagoda) and in the village of Nine Creeks next to her place. Xiaoming is a very generous host and I highly recommend her place.
Very nice location, in the hills outside the city- feels remote, yet is easily accessed. Some nice walks immediate to the lodgings and a short ride from a beautiful Buddhist Temple.
Xiaoming is very interesting and hospitable, but takes care to leave you plenty of space. The little kitchen is handy and there is a shop very nearby. This place is like a retreat, very peaceful.
In June, when I was there, it rained a lot, but in the forest or under the awning outside the room were great ways of experiencing that kind of rain- (the local shop sells umbrellas!)
There are a couple of lovely dogs which are attached to the place- very friendly and cute, but I guess if you don't like dogs it might not be ideal- I did and really enjoyed them.
There is a dehumidifier in the room, which needs to be left on to keep the place from becoming damp.
This is why Airbnb is interesting- its not sterile and you find things you'd never get in a hotel. I loved it.
Xiamong was a perfect host and i really enjoyed staying in her studio. She was kind and very generous with her time and made my stay easy and peaceful. The surrounding tea village is very beautiful with many lovely nature walks with magical scenery though the tea plantations. Also quaint little tea villages nearby you can have the famous Longjing tea in. A great place to stay if you want to be out of the hustle and bustle of the city and find some peace. The room is very comfortable and there is a little kitchen you can cook in. Shops nearby sell everything you need including fruit and vegetables. It is a plus if you like dogs as there are dogs staying nearby. You can catch bus to city which takes about half an hour. I would definitely come cam and stay here. Thanks Xiamong!
Xiaoming was very accommodating, and communicative on the transportation around Hangzhou. She cooked a great lunch and provided fruit and other snacks. The room was creatively decorated, and inspired me to take more time to decorate my house. The bed was hard, but surprisingly really comfortable. I was traveling around most of the time, so I didn't spend too much time with Xiaoming or around the house. It was a nice respite from the busyness of the lake. A little far from most of the attractions, but a bus can take you there in 10 minutes. Also dogs are so cute and well behaved!
The reservation was canceled 17 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Lovely house, great host and a fantastic place to spend the Spring Festival. Can't recommend enough.
