Victorian garden level apartment

House - Entire home/apt · Clarinda Park East, Dublin, Dublin, Ireland

Elegantly furnished, well proportioned studio apartment (37 sq.m.). Real Victorian cast-iron fireplace. Comfortably sleeps two (and optional extra small bed). Own door access and separate hall, bathroom and kitchen. Brick patio in garden. Great amenities, restaurants and seafront within walking distance. Easy access to Dublin city by Dart.

The Space

There is only one main room (plus the hall, kitchen and bathroom), which is nicely proportioned and has a great feeling of light and space. The open fire is lovely in the evenings.

Guest Access

The guests will have their own hall door access to the apartment. The front garden which is quite private and very pleasant in the summer has an area just for the apartment but which is open to the rest of the front garden.

Interaction with Guests

We say hello, show the place and make sure the guests are comfortable. We live above the apartment and are available if needed, but generally the guests and hosts keep to themselves.

The Neighborhood

Walk on Dun Laoghaire Pier
Go for a swim in The Forty Foot - 20 minutes on foot.
Every Sunday there is a farmers' market in the "People's Park" just down the road.
Cinema, supermarkets, library, theatre, restaurants and pubs are all within walking distance.

Getting around

The nearest DART station is Sandycove Glasthule - five minutes brisk walk and the number 7 bus at the bottom of the road goes into town.
The Aircoach has stops in Dun Laoghaire and Glasthule. Visitors parking permits are available (from the hosts) at €2 per day, please advise in advance if needed.

Other Things to Note

There is usually one double bed in the apartment, but given notice we can provide an additional small single bed.

    Thanks for having us

  • Great location near trains, shopping, nice walks. Neil was a perfect host; meeting us as we got there and making sure we had everything we needed. He even took a painting off his wall for us to enjoy in the apartment while we were there after a conversation of how well we liked it. The apartment is very well appointed, cooking was a pleasure. There were also peat bricks and kindling for a warm fire after a chilly wintery day out. The linens and pillows and towels were great quality and comfortable.
The only discomfort in the wintery months is the bathroom does not heat well with a space heater. It was very cold to get up at night or anytime to take a shower. The bed was a bit worn so the springs and boards underneath were apparent. (This did not really stop me from sleeping but not 5 stars). All in all a great experience.

    Thanks Claudine.
The bed is actually only a month old, but the lats are widely spaced. I am going to get a new base made with tighter spacing.

  • Lovely apartment - well appointed and decorated, and an open fire which makes it cosy. A few little tweaks needed but otherwise this apartment is perfectly located to stay in south Dublin near the sea, the DART to central city and some great restaurants such as De Ville's Dalkey and Rasam, Glathule Road.

  • Nice small flat (with an open fire) for two people in the souterrain of a victorian house in beautiful surroundings. Shopping facilities, Pubs and Restaurants in walking distance. Also good public transport facilities to Dublin City Center (Bus 46a, 7 and DART), to the Airport (AIRCOACH) ans the south (Dalkey, Bray and Greystone, DART). A few minutes walking distance to the sea promenade of Dun Laoghaire.
    Great hosts!

Thanks Hans. We've changed the fridge - looking out for nice small wardrobe. Best wishes. Neil

  • Great studio flat with beautiful furnishings and decor. It felt very homely and comfortable and had everything I needed. Great location near the sea and with the Dart so nearby, it suited me perfectly to get in and out of Dublin city centre. Will definitely stay again.
