The trick is to pronounce it as if your mouth were full of marbles. Say it with me now, LOU-uh-vull. Good. Now toss back a small-batch bourbon, dig into fried catfish and artisanal grits, and place your bets: It's post time in Derby City.
While you could pass for a local knowing these four tenets of life in Louisville, there's much more to this 234-year-old town on the Ohio River—it's Kentucky's largest city, after all. During your upcoming visit to Kentucky Derby 140, come experience southern sophistication at its best at the recently renovated Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Louisville. Hawthorn Suites Louisville is located in the Bluegrass Industrial Park right off Interstate 64 and is about 15 miles from both Churchill Downs and Downtown Louisville.
Derby guests looking for more of a home-like environment - and not just a basic hotel - will appreciate hard-to-find amenities like a fully-equipped kitchen, work area, and free wi-fi in every room at this all-suite hotel. You can also savor a free hearty breakfast at their hot breakfast buffet each morning of your visit. Each room has a queen bed and can accommodate two adults.
I've been an Airbnb host for four years. You can read from the over 100 positive reviews, I've provided great accommodations to hundreds of visiting guests over the years, especially at Derby time. In addition to renting my own condo for Derby, I'm happy to offer a great hotel at an affordable price for visiting Derby guests. Why pay $1500 per night or more to stay downtown, when you can pay a fraction of the cost to stay at the Hawthorn Suites Louisville?
I look forward to hosting you for Kentucky Derby 140!
Steven was great! Easy and quick booking and was great with check in/out. Apartment was very nice and pictures are a great representation.
Steven's place was great and the pictures truly represent the space! He was very helpful, easy to contact and quick to respond to questions, with great instructions for getting in and making ourselves comfortable! The condo was immaculate and clean, with everything we needed to feel right at home! There is a Kroger nearby, the Convention Center is less than a mile away, and we had easy access to everything we needed. We would definitely recommend his place and would certainly stay here for a return visit to Louisville! In warmer weather, the bus line is nearby, but we rented a car, so having the assigned covered spot was great! For our first time using Airbnb, it was an awesome experience! We felt like we were staying in a friend's home!
Steven was very quick to respond and provide all the details we needed about the place. When we arrived, it was clean and just as in the pictures. It was a great place to stay with two kids - we all had our space (two bathrooms - bonus!) and the kitchen had everything we needed to eat in if we wanted to. Steven provided us with maps and tourist info that helped make it easy to get around. Thanks for a great stay!
We just returned from Steven's condo sharing it with grown children for a Christmas visit. Everything was perfect, and the condo is just as it appears in photos, only better. Great location, great condo, wonderful visit. You can't find a better spot in Louisville. Steven is a fabulous, attentive host. We had no problems at all. Can't recommend Steven and his condo highly enough.
Our stay in Steve's Louisville condo worked out perfectly for me and mu family . The condo is very nice, clean, and the beds are comfortable. Steve was most helpful. I would definitely stay there again.
We don't know where to begin. Steven is beyond anything we could ask for in a host. This was the first time we stayed in a "private room" in a shared apt and it felt more like we were staying with old friends. If we needed Steven, he was there, but for the most part, we had the place to ourselves. The private, clean and big bathroom was a HUGE plus to the huge and comfy room. my husband would like me to mention the amazing water pressure. The location to downtown Louisville and to other nearby "hotspot" neighborhoods, couldn't be beat. In the morning we took a 1 mile walk straight downtown with our dogs to grab coffee at Sunergos (amazing coffee by the way!!) There was always a close by parking spot (which was important for us unloading a lot of stuff for us and our dogs). Also, the kindness shown to us & our dogs was unbeatable. Finding hosts that were welcoming to us and our "furry children" was important but we had no idea how accommodating people could be until our stay here. On our final night there, Steven brought home a large cake from work to share with us. He must know our sweet spot :) We look forward to visiting Louisville again and we wouldn't stay anywhere else!
Steven was an extremely accommodating and welcoming host. His condo is very well kept, clean, and comfortable. The apartment was well appointment, with comfortable beds, couches, and all the modern amenities a traveler would want including secure, covered parking which was particularly helpful given all the ice and snow. While it is not in the most walkable area the condo is conveniently located to downtown, 4th Street Live, and Old Louisville. We highly recommend Steven and his condo. We will definitely stay there again.
It feels much bigger than it looks in the photos. It was impeccably clean and inviting. Very close to all kinds of fun activities. Steven was a fantastic host and if I ever go back to Louisville I will certainly check availability here :).
I appreciated Steven's hospitality in sharing his spacious condo in downtown Louisville, a city filled with interesting architecture. He was a gracious host, pointing out the Marketplace Restaurant, which has excellent food and wine, near the famous Brown Hotel. Thank you, Steven.
Steven's place was very clean and comfortable! He was super hospitable and knowledgable about the city. I recommend his place to anyone who is looking for a place to stay in Louisville.
