The Space

A cool one bedroom apartment on the canal at Little Venice with private courtyard and big communal garden. Meter parking during day, free after 6.30pm.
This is the owner's London base but frequently available to visitors. Regrettably it is can only accommodate a maximum of two people and is not suitable for babies or small children.
There is a well equipped kitchen; towels and linen are provided. There is a washing machine but no dryer. A launderette in nearby Formosa St offers a drying service. There is Wi Fi, TV and a docking station for an iPod/MP3 player.
The apartment is in a tranquil and pretty location and yet easily accessible from the West End. There are two tube stations within a few minutes walk. The Number 18 bus stops very close by and takes you to Baker St from where you can stroll down the delightful Marylebone High Street with its many attractive shops and on towards Oxford St, Soho etc. A folder for guests inside the apartment gives further information and travel tips.

  • We had a very nice weekend in Jane's flat that looks exactly like on the pictures. Everything was very clean and we could find a many offers that make our stay very comfortable (maps, information of the neighborhood, tea, coffee etc). Unfortunately due to the weather we didn't have the chance to use the nice terrace and the garden - but in summertime this must just be perfect after a long day full of sightseeing.
The location is as brilliant as the apartment. 5 min walk to Paddington but in a very quite and absolutely fascinating neighborhood. In the mornings you can hear the seagulls from the canal which is just on the other side of the road.

Hopefully we can come back in summertime!

  • It is always a pleasure to stay at Jane's flat when I am in London. The location is perfectly situated in cosy Little Venice with a nice walk along the canal to get to Paddington station. The flat has all the amenities you could need with some extras like brioche buns and milk in the fridge so you can have some nibbles. The instructions, maps and tips she leaves in the flat are helpful and well thought out. Can't wait to return in the future!

  • This was my first time using AirBnB and the whole experience, thanks to Jane, far exceeded my expectations. Jane's flat was perfect for our 5 day stay.

First - perfect location: A 5 minute walk from Paddington Station, the flat was convenient for transport to 4 major tube lines, as well as Heathrow express and trains to Bath and Oxford. Waterloo station (to Stonehenge and Hamptom Court) is about 10 minute direct tube ride on Bakerloo Line. There's a small market right outside the tube which was convenient for picking up groceries, as well as restaurants all around. I'd recommend the pub 1/2 block away for nice low key dinner.

Second - space! The apartment is small, not tiny but cozy. It was perfect for a single or couple. The kitchen is modern and has every single kitchen essential, including in the cupboard salt, oil, vinegar... all the small things you would need. Jane only asks that you replace what you use. There's leftover butter, tea, cereal, mustard, etc from previous guests. Jane provides complimentary bread and milk which is very nice after a long overnight flight. There's a separate bedroom with a queen size bed. Kudos for Jane for putting real, comfy furniture in the apartment instead of the cheap plastic stuff.

Third - Jane! Jane was a great hostess and went FAR above and beyond for our stay. We arrived on xmas day, and because all the shops and cafes would be closed Jane left us a Christmas dinner - a gorgeous meat pie and to our surprise a bottle of red wine. Jane was very responsive in all communications and really we could not have asked for a better experience.

We definitely recommend this flat and will return!

  • everything is just as jane's listing describes. the apartment is very nice, very quiet, comfortable and well-situated. the heating and hot water work well, and you have everything you need in the kitchen to cook a full dinner at home. it is in a very good area, just a few minutes easy walk to the paddington station. the neighborhood has some good inexpensive restaurants, too. jane left us fresh fruit, milk and juice i would stay there again and recommend this to my friends.

  • This is the perfect spot for landing in London. My first time to the city and Little Venice has so much to offer as a walking neighborhood. The apartment is beautiful and very comfortable.
Jane made the process so easy and you cant beat the location.

  • This is a fantastic flat.

Jane was very responsive and easy to communicate with. She gave me very detailed instructions on arriving. The fresh milk & bread was a nice touch and much needed after a long flight.

The flat itself is very clean. The bed is very comfortable. And the kitchen had everything I needed to make a few meals. The photos don't do the outdoor area justice- it's really quite lovely. I was lucky enough to have nice weather, so I spent a few evenings enjoying the garden.

There are a few nice pubs and restaurants nearby, as well as a grocery shop and coffee shop. It's a nice quiet neighborhood, but still in Zone 1 and a quick walk to the tube to get to all of the main attractions.

I would definitely recommend this flat and hope to stay there again.

    Response from Jane:

Thank you Natalie for such a glowing review. You are right about the photos not doing the garden justice - they were taken before I made it! I must take some and upload them.
    Best wishes

  • This is a comfortable apartment which has everything you need for a long or short stay in London. It is conveniently located near transport, a supermarket and restaurants. The bedroom is quiet and the bed comfortable, but a little difficult to get into from one side. The outdoor area at the back of the apartment is attractive but we found the noise from a nearby major road prevented us from using it. This noise is not a problem inside the apartment .

  • Great location going in and out of Heathrow and close to underground. Convenient ground floor flat with a nice outlook onto a small garden. Bed was comfortable and the rest of the flat was clean and simply furnished. Only problem for us was no microwave and no powerpoint in the bathroom. We really enjoyed our 10 day stay.

  • The Apartment in Little Venice, London was our first experience of AirBnB accommodation. It lived up to our expectations and set a high standard which we hope will be met by all our subsequent AirBnB bookings. The apartment is exactly as portrayed in the pictures.

Prior to our arrival Jane promptly answered the few queries we had and volunteered the information that the double bed is a bit of a squeeze on one side – which wasn’t an issue but we appreciated the heads up.

As flights from Australia usually arrive early morning (around 6:30am), Jane was very accommodating and advised she was happy for us to check-in at 11:00am – which worked in well with our pre-booked transport. We arrived about 20 minutes early, and we were welcomed by Jane’s daughter Amy, who was just finishing up preparing the apartment. After a very pleasant chat, Amy gave us the key and suggested we leave our luggage and go to The Waterside Café while she finished up. Literally across the road from the apartment, this is a pleasant canal boat café to enjoy a coffee and light meal while you watch the commercial and private canal boats drift by. When we returned about 45 minutes later Amy had departed and our home for the next 4 days was ready for us to take up residence.

Little Venice is at the junction of the Grand Union and Regent’s canals. The apartment is conveniently located between Paddington Underground/Railway Station (about 8 mins walk) and Warwick Avenue Underground Station (about 4 mins walk). On the way to Paddington Station is Sheldon Square which has a number of cafés and restaurants including Pret a Manger, where we found the coffee to be excellent (and a Starbucks for those who enjoy the chain). There’s also a Sainsbury’s Local where you can get your supplies. To get to Warwick Avenue Station you go past the Warwick Castle a great little pub where you can enjoy an ale, etc. Jane provides a Guest Folder which apart from providing information about the apartment contains some useful tourist information about the area and getting around.

The one bedroom apartment itself was perfect for us and Jane had provided basic provisions (milk, bread, cereal, etc) and there is a wide variety of condiments in the cupboard – which are complimentary but Jane does ask that you replenish as needed. There is a nice outdoor area and lounge and a very neat, compact kitchen that has everything you might need (including a washing machine and clothes airer).

We love London and our stay in the Apartment in Little Venice made this visit absolutely perfect. We would have no hesitation in recommending Jane and her apartment – particularly for a couple looking for a conveniently located, quiet and pleasant accommodation.

I am a journalist with three grown up children. I live in the country and the apartment is my London home which I use two or three times a month for a night or two. Otherwise it is generally available for Air bnb guests. I am in the process of making a garden in the courtyard and have just bought some outdoor furniture for it. Favourite holidays are active: riding, walking, tennis. Favourite destinations: Patagonia, Kenya, SW France, Tuscany. Currently reading: The Stranger's Child and A visit from the Goon Squad. Last read: The hare with amber eyes. I love: dancing, cooking, gardening, walking, tennis and riding. Life motto: never be afraid to entertain strangers lest you entertain angels unawares.
