About This Listing
This cool, compact, well equipped one bedroom flat has a private courtyard garden and is located in a very pretty and tranquil canalside area close to tube stations, easily and quickly accessible to the centre of London.
A cool one bedroom apartment on the canal at Little Venice with private courtyard and big communal garden in a tranquil location with easy access to central London.
This is the owner's London base but frequently available to visitors. Regrettably it can only accommodate a maximum of two people and is not suitable for babies or small children.
There is a well equipped kitchen; towels and linen are provided. There is a washing machine but no dryer. A launderette in nearby Formosa St offers a drying service. There is a clothes drying rack, iron and ironing board. There is Wi Fi, a printer, a TV and a docking station for an iPod/MP3 player.
Access to private courtyard and communal gardens.
Interaction with Guests
Communication is principally by email as I live a long way out of London and am rarely able to meet guests personally. However I always check shortly after their arrival to make sure everything is satisfactory.
The neighbourhood is remarkably peaceful and very pretty with lots of mature trees, attractive streetscapes and boats on the canal. It is pleasant to take an evening stroll along the towpath - you can walk for miles free of traffic with only the odd bicycle to avoid.
There is a wide selection of pubs, cafes and restaurants within close walking distance. There is a very good choice of local shops in Clifton Gardens including a butcher, greengrocer, deli, pharmacist, wine shop, cafes, florist and small supermarket.
It is a 10-15 minute walk to Regents Park and Kensington Gardens/Hyde Park which offer hectares of green space, lakes, play areas and both sporting and cultural activities.
It is a 5 minute walk to Warwick Avenue tube and Paddington mainline station which has a regular 15 minute service to Heathrow.
Meter parking during day, free after 6.30pm.
The Number 18 bus stops very close by and takes you to Baker St from where you can stroll down the delightful Marylebone High Street with its many attractive shops and on towards Oxford St, Soho etc. A folder for guests inside the apartment gives further information and travel tips.
The two tube stations are a few minutes walk away. Warwick Avenue on the Bakerloo line, Paddington on Bakerloo, Circle and District, Hammersmith and City lines. Paddington is also a mainline station to the west. There are several convenient bus lines nearby. There are 'Boris bikes' to hire in Warwick Avenue which also has a taxi rank.
Other Things to Note
Please note there is limited storage space - just one hanging cupboard in the bedroom. I plan to provide a small chest of drawers in the near future.
Normal consideration for neighbours.
Please leave the flat as you found it.

We were delighted with the location - very handy to Paddington station. We had everything we needed in the apartment, especially appreciated the refurbished bathroom. Jane gave us clear instructions for entry, and there was a helpful folder explaining how everything worked, plus information about drying laundry, eating out, rubbish disposal and where to buy food. Another big plus was the delightful outlook - mature trees and the local squirrels playing on the extensive lawn. Would we recommend this apartment to family and friends? We certainly would
Jane's is a very comfortable and tastefully decorated flat in a great part of London. Little Venice is a unique location in London, with the canal lending it a very peaceful nature. It is also very centrally located, only a mile away from Hyde Park and Lords Cricket Ground and about two miles from Camden Market along the Regents Canal. If you are a keen jogger or walker like me, then this is just fantastic. It's hard to imagine a better place to spend a week in London.
Jane is a most welcoming host - she thinks of everything! The apartment is located in a fabulous part of London - in among the canals of Little Venice. This is a gem of a place - a quiet but thriving, central location with oodles of character and quirky corners of interest. Across the road from the apartment is the canal boat café - order the omelette and you will be truly satisfied with a large, fluffy breakfast omelette but avoid the coffee - not quite so nice. Try the coffee and cakes or breakfast/lunch at the Quince Tree - an amazing recommendation from Jane - it is a café set in a plant nursery. The apartment is soooo well equipped - a cosy and comfortable place that has everything you could possibly want plus a bit more. The space is well designed so that it has lots of spaces for working, relaxing and enjoying life in Paddington. There are wonderful restaurants and cafes in the vicinity including the luscious Beany Green. The proximity to Paddington Station is a great bonus - just a short walking distance. I would recommend this apartment without a moment's hesitation! Beautiful interior décor and a spacious back garden to while away some quality relaxing time - it is a rare find. Thank you so much, Jane - we were in for an exquisite treat with the fab location by the canal close to Paddington station in such a beautiful apartment.
Great place with a fantastic location. Jane's flat is quiet and cozy with close access to major transportation hubs and local amenities. The flat has great natural light and amenities. Jane was welcoming and communicative throughout the whole process. Would definitely stay here again.
We had a very pleasent time in Jane's apartement during Christmas time. The apartement is just as described in the photos and very quite. It is very closed to Paddington and Warwick Avenue stations. Jane is very helpful too and let us a very detailed note with all information needed to have a good stay. she is a very nice person and she is worried about the well-being of the tenants. Thanks again Jane.
About the Host, Jane
I am a journalist with three grown up children. I live in the country and the apartment is my London home which I use two or three times a month for a night or two. Otherwise it is often available for Airbnb guests.
Sadly I am rarely able to meet my guests as I live a long way out of London but I keep lines of communication open, answer questions promptly and always check that everything is OK after their arrival.
I lived in Sydney for several years and am happy that many of my guests come from Australia - they are great travellers. Quite often guests have come to visit their adult children who live and work or study in London.
My favourite holidays are active: riding, walking, tennis. Favourite destinations: Patagonia, Kenya, SW France, Tuscany. Currently reading: The Master by Colm Toibin. Last read: Do no harm by Henry Marsh. I love dancing, cooking, gardening, walking, tennis and riding.
Life motto: never be afraid to entertain strangers lest you entertain angels unawares.
