The artist created bedroom/ bath is surrounded by food and fauna gardens behind a quiet bungalow home where meals are served laced with fresh ingredients from the yard. Attached to the artist's studio, guests can usually observe works in progress as well as aquire mementos from their stay.
This peaceful unit is a separate suite behind the main house tucked into the quaint, secluded backyard. It is a tranquil space of meditative healing with use of the Vibra Therapy Machine (search Whole Body Vibration ), outdoor non-chlorine hot tub, or indoor 2 person Japanese tub, fire pit on "The Beach", gardens of art and edibles, friendly pets, and samplings of natural skin products and infusions.
The artist and creator of the atmosphere has her studio in the attached garage where you can usually observe her working and view her gallery of diverse artwork.
Though the property feels like it is in its own little world, it's just off Hwy.101 with easy access (within a half hour) to Wine Country, Coastal attractions, San Francisco, Sausalito, Berkely, Mt. Tamalpais, Muir Woods, and Sonoma Raceway.
We will do our best to accommodate your needs for the most pleasant and memorable stay. Please feel free to use anything that has been left in the room respectfully and kindly leave it there when you go. Many of the items may be purchased if you wish to continue using them at home. Please refrain from smoking anywhere on the premises~ Thank you.
The front driveway is for guest parking. With a few hours notice, the hot tub can be ready for a soak. There is wood and a firepit for a bonfire, and a table in the courtyard for dining. There is a hot pot for tea in the room, and a chef's choice garden inspired breakfast served in the kitchen of the main house upon request. When the artist is home, the studio is open for viewing.
Guests can determine the level of interaction they desire. Teri is from the south and hospitality runs openly and freely, but for those who wish to have a more interspective visit, privacy is respected. The cats are not as mindful, but usually can be gently discouraged from sitting in your lap if not desired.
The Fairy Garden Cottage definitely exceed our expectations. We had a great stay culminating with an amazing breakfast that seamlessly incorporated our dietary restrictions. Teri was the perfect host and we couldn't have asked for a better experience.
Teri is an incredible host. Even though we booked our reservation last minute, arrived late, and had to leave early, Teri accommodated all our needs. From keeping the light on, ushering us in late, turning up the hot tub, to making a very generous to-go breakfast including some addictively delicious homemade muffins, she really went out of her way to make our stay amazing.
As advertised, her cottage is a magical spot tucked in a quiet neighborhood between Sonoma and San Francisco - perfect for for a quick break from the city, even on weeknight! We had the added pleasure of experiencing Teri's cottage in the rain, with its large windows, lush surrounding gardens, and nature inspired luxuries - very romantic. Bonus: Moylan's brewery is a great joint with fantastic beers just a few minutes away.
Thanks for making our weeknight excursion so easy and wonderful! Looking forward to next time!
Such a lovely review from someone who spent so little time here :) I guess that really says a lot if you could get that much out of it in such a short time~ I hope you can come back for a longer visit. Thank you so much! Glad you liked the first run recipe for the gluten free coconut muffins~ guess I'll keep them on the menu ;)
My husband and I had a truly wonderful experience with Teri at the Fairy Garden Cottage. Unlike some other places on Airbnb, everything at Teri's place was exactly as advertised, and actually surpassed our hopes and expectations.
Teri is incredibly warm, hospitable, and kind. She made us feel very welcome, and the whole experience was so relaxing and magical.
The cottage is private, secure, and very clean and tidy. The design is enchanting all around -- the interior décor, the nice amenities, and the lovely courtyard/garden. Everything is beautifully decorated but not overdone. For example, the garden and courtyard has splashes of color in the form of vegetables, flowers, and a variety of succulents, but is not rigidly landscaped. Everything seems to have its place, but in a very natural, organic way. She also has an absolutely adorable little bunny who hops around this magical garden and makes you feel as if you are in a fairy tale or a fable!
Teri was very responsive to our inquiries and always extremely friendly. She was so kind to heat up the hot tub for us several hours before we arrived so we were able to enjoy a hot soak under the evening sky. It was a wonderfully relaxing end to our day exploring Point Reyes National Seashore and seeing the elephant seals.
We had a rejuvenating rest and then a lovely shower in the morning. The shower is a luxurious, spa-style design with a pebbled floor and lavender shampoo and conditioner provided. Then, Teri kindly offered us to eat outside or inside (both lovely options), and we decided to eat inside. She graciously welcomed us into her kitchen and had cooked a delicious, literally homegrown meal (eggs with mushrooms, swiss chard, and onions from her garden as well as rosemary sweet potatoes, seasoned with rosemary from her garden too). She asked us beforehand if we had dietary restrictions. This was very thoughtful and allowed her to customize the meals to our tastes. She provided fresh orange juice, an assortment of teas with raw honey, and a toasted wheat bread with sunflower seeds and a delicious strawberry rhubarb spread with what seemed to be crystallized sugar. So good!
Teri is very flexible in terms of giving you privacy or sharing the time with you during breakfast. We really hit it off and had a great conversation with her for several hours! We shared life stories and insights and then went outside to seethe meditation corner she is building.
Overall, it was a delightful stay, and we truly felt at home. Oh, I almost forgot to mention the Vibra Therapy exercise machine in the cottage, which is great!
Overall, we highly recommend the Fairy Garden Cottage and encourage you to stay with Teri for an enchanted getaway! :)
My girlfriend and I rode our bikes up from San Francisco for an anniversary weekend at Teri's wonderful backyard 'cottage.' I never would have thought of heading to Novato for a vacation, but Teri (and her amazing place) made it absolutely worthwhile.
The room is separate from the house with its own bathroom and backyard entrance. The yard is beautiful - we showed up on a warm spring afternoon to a lush little paradise filled with blooming flowers. The hot tub was warm, the bed comfy, and the breakfast (breakfast! I've never had an AirBnB host provide breakfast before) incredible.
Seriously. I would go back just for the breakfast. Frittata with fresh garden veggies, polenta, home baked scones, delicious yogurt and fresh strawberries. And for dinner there's a great Thai restaurant just around the corner that was incredibly accommodating to a pair of vegetarians.
Teri was a great host; she was friendly, welcoming, and extremely quick to respond to our text messages even at 11 pm.
My only worry is that other people will discover this gem.
My girlfriend and I were looking for a quiet place to recharge our batteries and Teri's cottage worked out perfectly. It was very private, the soaking tub was quite relaxing, and Teri was a gracious host...making us a delicious breakfast the next morning.
Wife and I very much enjoyed a stay at Teri's home while we were on a nostalic visit where we lived and worked 20 years ago on the old Hamilton AFB. The cottage, home and yard reflect Teri's great drive and creativity. And we were fortunate to have had wonderful conversation over a superb breakfast. The warmth of Teri and her place more than made up for the shock and sadness we experienced upon seeing our old boarded up!
Sweet backyard suite and you'd never know it was in the suburbs. Teri was a caring host and makes a tasty breakfast!
Teri's amazing spot could be called "Magical Fairy Garden Cottage". Terry is a superb hostess and gifted designer.
When I shared with her that I was planning a surprise Valentine getaway, her extra "special touches" made a dream evening our reality.
The cottage is a delight. Well appointed, very cozy, comfy bed! It is nestled in a garden filled with flowers, herbs and fruit bearing trees - the garden items are used to make a delicious, beautiful breakfast. Note - I particularly loved the Lilies of the Valley that were in bloom.
Everything about Teri's cottage was perfect: the location: amenities, cleanliness, hot tub, Japanese bath, hostess (you'll never find a better one anywhere), service, communication, ahhh - the ambiance... I could go on, and on, and on . . .
If you are looking for a romantic, private, peaceful place to stay I'd say: "Book Now"!
Everything about this spot is wonderful, from the enchanting decor to the lovely host herself. We spent our Valentine's Day here and Teri went the extra mile to make sure our stay was as memorable as possible. The place is extremely clean, the hot tub is great for unwinding, and Teri's breakfast made from homegrown ingredients is the perfect cherry on top. Its location is extremely convenient, too. If you're looking for a rejuvenating getaway, this is the place for you.
Teri is a great host and so is the cottage!
