UPDATE: We want your stay to be joyous and healthy! We clean MANIACALLY to that end. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns!
A true Storybook style tiny house, you will find the kind of rustic charm you’d expect if you walked into a fairytale forest. Stained glass windows, cedar log ceiling, antique brass lights, and medieval touches make it whimsical and cozy!

The space
I call this tiny, storybook cottage Robin Hood’s Hideout. This magical cottage was designed and built with reclaimed and salvaged wood, fixtures and windows from about 30 different houses, barns and buildings.

Our 6 acre property is named Havenwald, which means "Haven in the Woods." You’ll have the entire cottage to yourself, nestled among oak and cedar trees, and under the wide, open Texas sky.

You’ll almost certainly see lots of deer on your way here, as well as grazing near the cottage at dusk and again at dawn. On clear nights, star gazing is a must! The birds will sing you awake as the sun brings the colors in the stained glass windows to life.

And Munchkin and Kristoffe, the friendliest cats in the Texas Hill Country, will probably come out to greet you at some point. (If you don’t like cats, just ignore them and they’ll go away.)

There’s plenty of space between the cottages, so you’ll have your privacy.

We have 7 whimsical cottages that we’ve built throughout the property. Including a tiny Victorian Manse, a Gypsy Wagon, a Steampunk House and we’re working on a Tudor Castle! Yep, a castle!

You can see our Victorian Mini Mansion here: https://abnb.me/MYZ7CejGxX

We’d be happy to give you a tour of the other cottages when you’re here if you’d like.

All the cottages are fully insulated, and climate controlled. You’ll be toasty warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

We’ve tried to provide every amenity we could think of from delicious, locally roasted coffee, teas, cream and sugar, bottled water, toiletries and fluffy towels. If there’s something special you need, just let us know!

Guest access
Robin Hood's Hideout is tucked into the trees, and the entire cottage is yours to enjoy. We’ll meet you at the cottage on the day of your arrival, and get you all checked in.

Just let us know your approximate ETA by the morning of your stay.

The Tudor Castle is currently under construction toward the back, so you will see building materials if you walk down the road toward the creek, as well as birds, squirrels and occasionally a little lizard or a rabbit. And almost always deer!

We recommend bug spray (it’s Texas!) and sturdy shoes if you go walking.

Other things to note
Please watch for deer on the roads, especially once you leave the highway. They are active ALL times of the day and night, and are most active dusk to dawn.

While we love children and pets, our cottages are not well suited for them. There are several great kennels in Dripping Springs for your fur babies; please let us know if you need recommendations.

Havenwald is meant to be a peaceful haven for one to two guests per cottage. If you have ANYTHING else in mind, you must contact us with your request prior to booking your stay.

For the safety and comfort of all our guests and residents, we are very protective as to who comes on the property. We will need the names of every guest coming on the property prior to your arrival. Additional visitors are not permitted, unless it has been cleared with us well in advance of your arrival.

We also host weddings, celebrations, photo shoots, workshops and corporate events at Havenwald. These events are billed at a different rate, and must be approved by us prior to booking. Please feel free to contact us for more information.

We believe good communication is the key to great experiences, so please contact us with any questions, concerns or requests you may have!

Location

Dripping Springs, Texas, United States

Havenwald is up in the quiet hills, a 7 minute drive to Route 290, and about 10 minutes to downtown Dripping Springs. Dripping Springs (or "Dripping" as most locals call it!) has a large HEB grocery store, a Home Depot, a 24 hour emergency care facility, a wine and spirits shop, Goodwill, UPS store, flower shops, clothing boutiques, dry cleaners and antiques stores and gift shops. There are wineries that host tastings, distilleries and several great restaurants. Dripping Springs is also the Wedding Capitol of Texas, with 61 wedding venues in a 17 mile radius! There are also horse ranches, an olive orchard that does tours and tastings, longhorn steer and more mule deer than you can shake a stick at!

Mercer Street, the Historical Society preserved old Main Street through town, (it parallels 290) has quite an active social calendar, hosting many seasonal festivals and events, as well as lively First Thursday's. The Triangle at the intersection of Rt. 290 and Ranch Road 12 has a small farmer's market every Wednesday from 3-6 where you can sit in vintage rocking chairs and listen to live music, sample Buddha's Brew Kombucha or pick up some grass-fed bison, artisanal bagels or soap made from local goat's milk.

If you're coming to Austin for the live music, or an event like F1, SXSW or ACL, Dripping is just a short 20 minute drive on the highway to the outskirts of the city that likes to keep things "weird". In fact, the Dripping Springs town slogan is, "Just west of weird."

A little further east down Rt. 290, you'll find amazing antiques, wine tours and historic sites in Johnson City and Fredericksburg.

The sun is hot in the summer, and the creek will have icicles in the winter. (Don't worry, all the cottages have heat and AC!) The folks here are friendly, and will address you as "sir" and "ma'am". That's just the Texas way of showing respect!

I am an Artist/Builder who designs and builds magical tiny cottages out of salvaged materials! I love nature, animals, travel, music and people who are kind, silly, unique and free-thinkers. I enjoy just about any creative endeavor, and there’s pretty much no substrate I haven’t painted on! I believe in living life to the fullest, and am a participant, rather than a bystander. Fav quote—Goethe: “Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it; boldness has genius, power and magic in it.”

During your stay
We live on the property, so we’re nearby if you need anything. but you probably won’t see us unless you want to. We will leave you alone and let you enjoy the cottage and the wild and untamed feeling of the Hill Country.

This is YOUR time to enjoy, relax, recharge and get away from it all! We say "Magic stays here" because we want your stay to be YOUR version of "magic," and we hope you'll find a bit of the magic we feel here at Havenwald!
