Master Bed Bushwick Vacation NYC

Apartment - Private room · Starr Street, Brooklyn, NY 11237, United States

Hello everyone. We are Erica and Jorel. We're living in a really big brand new, refurbished 4bd room Duplex just past the East Williamsburg border in Bushwick, just off the Jefferson stop on the L Train.
There are two other rooms available to BnB with us. So pick carefully!!

The Space

This room is the mastered room, with lots of light, big windows out onto a beautiful backyard, exposed brick, 55" flatscreen, AppleTV, Netflix, and HBOgo.

This is only available while I'm away for the majority of December. It would be an amazing place to stay for Christmas, Hanukah, or especially the New Year.

Guest Access

- We are located on the same block as the Jefferson stop on the L Train. This train takes us directly to Untion Square in exactly 14min. In our area there is nothing as new, clean, close to the train, and close to the most amazing shops and bars in our neighborhood.
-This downstairs room has its own "private entrance" if you choose to use it and is the largest room in the house. This could easily accommodate three, even four people if you wanted to add the use of our air mattress.
-There is a TV as well if you would like to kick back and watch movies, if you have any down time during your stay.

-All of the rooms are totally private with locking doors.
-We have 1.5 bathrooms. Full bathroom upstairs, half is downstairs.
- Exposed Brick and Hardwood floors.
- Very comfortable beds. Fresh Linens and Towels.
- Coffee and snacks every morning.

Laundry in building!!!
Backyard with Apple trees, and a Fire Pit, with BBQ possibility.
Awesome Bars! It's very easy to just stay in this neighborhood.
The greatest Taqueria (maybe on Earth?). Also nothing there costs more than $6!
Totally amazing restaurants, from French, to New american, to brick oven Italian style pizza.
A local Park for indigenous people watching.
AGAIN, 45 second walk to "Jefferson" stop on the L train.

Interaction with Guests

The kitchen and bathroom upstairs is a shared area.

Erica and Jorel will be here during your stay. We will totally be available for you, to help you understand the city. You can text, call, or email us anytime. And depending on what you're looking to experience, Erica or Jorel will have recommendations. We are seasoned Pro's here in NYC. And we like to keep our finger on the pulse of what's going on in our city.

Erica also has a car, so depending on her availability she'll take you to and from airports for a fraction of what a cab would cost. Just ask her about it ahead of time.

We highly recommend shooting us an email to tell us when you are hoping to stay with us, and we can give you an immediate idea of all the possibilities.

The Neighborhood

A flourishing artist community has existed in Bushwick for decades and has now become one of the most lively art communities in New York City. Dozens of art studios and galleries are scattered throughout the neighborhood along with countless music venues, bars and restaurants. There are several open studios programs that help the public visit artist studios and galleries and a number of websites dedicated to promoting neighborhood art and events.

Some restaurants, music venues, and bars we love:
Tortilleria Mexicana Los Hermanos
Roberta's Pizza
Northeast Kingdom
Radio Bushwick
Heavy Woods
Silent Barn
Secret Project Robot
The Loom
Low Brow Artique
The Living Gallery
House of Yes
Eastern District
English Kills Art Gallery
The Cobra Club
Goodbye Blue Monday
Momo Shushi Shack
Dear Bushwick
El Mio Cid
Café Ghia

Getting around

Again...Yes, the L train is conveniently located ON OUR BLOCK.
The train makes commuting very easy into other neighborhoods:
- 8-10 minutes from Williamsburg
- 13 minutes to the East Village
- 15 minutes to Union Square (Holiday Market and shopping)
- 35 minutes to Rockefeller Center (ice skating, christmas tree)
- 40 minutes away from Central Park

From JFK:
- Subway: Take the ACE line and transfer to the L train.

From LaGuardia:
- Mass transit is tricky, we suggest a fairly inexpensive yellowcab ride (about $30 with tip, depending on traffic) to our place.

There is free street parking on our block, yoga, Indian Food, 3 great bars and a 24 hour gormet food store around the corner!

Other Things to Note

We do have 2 cats that mostly stay in Erica's Room. And from time to time Jorel has a beautiful, loving dog that also mostly stays in his room. But the dog is only in the apartment about 10 days out of each month.

The Rental rooms never have any pets in them, so you most likely won't even know they are here.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • There is something about this apartment in general, and this room specially, that feels just right. Good energy? Feng Shui? I don't know, but being in a sunny, nicely decorated warm room certainly feels great. The bed is very comfortable, and I am usually very picky when it comes to pillows, but very satisfied with the pillow collection here. The electric blanket (with remote controls) is a nice touch on these crazy-cold days. The bathroom is good and always clean, so is the kitchen. The room offers lots of privacy since the other rooms are either on the other side or downstairs. it has its own backyard, which I didn't get to enjoy yet (cold snowy days.)
The location is great. The subway is a minute walk away. Lots of supermarkets on both sides of the street, restaurants, etc, and the L train is perfect- almost every other line intersects with it.
The Hosts: I have new great friends in NY. Erica is great, very attentive, super friendly yet very understanding of guests' privacy. it's actually a shame that I am renting Jorel's room, as it means he is rarely around, but when we do meet, it's always great to talk and talk..

Oh, and did I mention that I am actually writing this from Jorel's room (no guns pointed at my head though)? I decided to stay for another 4 weeks! :-)

  • Love Love Loved this apartment. Very trendy and eclectic and in a great part of Brooklyn ( Williamsburg- Eastside). It was a breeze hopping on the subway to Manhattan each day and the muffins Erica bakes are delicious. I had full access to the kitchen and the thermostat! loll

This is a very modern apartment. From the bathroom fixtures, decor, water filter in the kitchen, flooring, etc. This is so much better than trying to find a hotel in the city. Very comfortable and enjoyable stay. Oh! And the bed was magical! Electric blankets and all!

  • This is more than a perfect accommodation! Living with artist Erica at emerging culture neighbourhood Bushwick itself is a memorable experience in NYC !

The newly furbished room is classy in nyc style- brick wall, wooden floor, backyard, even nicer than the picture. It is 2 min walk to L strain subway station, very safe even in late night, and take less than 20 mins to go to downtown Manhattan. This emerging neighbourhood has many bars, restranuts, but also not noisy or crowded.

And the best part is Erica! Not only sweet and helpful in so many ways as host, but also a great person to talk to if you are interested in ART. Born in an artist family and lived in NYC as a musician for years, she will tell you everything about ART life here, the history, where to go, what to see. You might also get the chance to listen to her music!

What a chance to have a cosy, convenient accommodation at a reasonable price, while making an artist friend here in NYC! Do not hesitate to book. It's the best deal!

  • Erica and Jorel are the best! We could not have had a better experience with them!! They were so accomodating and even made us homemade muffins for breakfast. :)

  • Erica and Jorel were pleasant and accommodating of my last minute request to stay with them. There was a problem with entry, as I got in at about 11:30pm on a Sunday and they had not yet provided me with the entry code for the building. It took about ten minutes to get ahold of them, after ringing the buzzer, calling, and texting, which would have been less of a problem had it not been freezing cold outside and I had not been utterly exhausted.
Otherwise, the room and apartment was clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. Overall I had a positive experience despite the initial miscommunication.
I would say this might not be for people who come in late at night, as I often do. It seems to be a relatively early-to-bed household (before midnight on weekdays). Totally normal for most people, but some run on a different schedule (like me) so I just thought I would share.

  • Great location close to subway, Erica was good host with fresh cookies and muffins. Added bonus, we had an attack cat guarding our bed room door.

  • Erica and Jorel were very good hosts. They gave me the opportunity (which is rare) to have a look at the room before booking it.

Warm welcome and privacy at once.

Very interesting neighborhood, with some of the most beautiful pieces of street art in NYC.
