About this listing
Come stay in our cozy bungalow, a separate and private stand alone, only a short walk to Venice Beach and the ultra trendy Abbot Kinney Boulevard. Whether you enjoy star watching, art galleries, shopping, or delicious food, this block has something for everyone. As Venice residents for over 20 years we constantly take advantage of this great neighborhood and love walking to the local coffee shop to grab a bagel or a piece of the yummy pizza or listen to live music just down the block. The bungalow’s location truly can’t be beat for the traveler coming for either fun or business.
The bungalow has all the amenities for a comfy stay- a brand new queen bed, TV, refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. Sunlight streams into the space and there are wonderful ocean breezes in the afternoon making this a real gem of a place to stay. Our newly landscaped backyard garden designed with native California plants that attract butterflies hopefully enhances your stay if you have time to relax outside on the Adirondack chairs or the bistro table. The main room also provides a desk, sitting chair, dresser, suitcase holder, plus a simple cooking area and nicely suits two. The private bathroom has a closet to store additional suitcases and hang clothes as well as a nice size mirror. Internet is free and all linens and towels are provided.
You can access the bungalow located behind our house from a private back entrance. We’re on one of the most desirable streets in Venice in what is known as the “walk street” area where you can meander the neighborhood on sidewalks and see great architecture and gardens. Ample street parking is available.
In addition to Abbot Kinney Boulevard (named the trendiest street in America by Esquire Magazine), it’s wonderful to stroll the Venice Canals modeled after those in Venice Italy. World-renowned Venice beach is always a main attraction with sidewalk entertainers and vendors you surely won’t see elsewhere and the infamous Muscle Beach (where Arnold Schwarzenegger trained). There is an incredible bike path along the ocean with a number of convenient places to rent bikes nearby. Santa Monica Pier is only a short 10-minute drive away and we’re only 15 minutes from the Los Angeles International Airport. A number of buses stop just blocks away if you don’t have a car.

Having spent 10 days in this bungalow it is not a place I'd recommend for more than a night - then only if you're desperate. It's incredibly small and impossible to turn around in the bathroom. The owners left old, half empty shampoo, soap, and conditioner bottles on the side of the bath plus two dead plants. 3 old fans were in the bedroom, which take up even more space. I'm a tea drinker and asked if they'd supply a tea kettle. They told me they had a Keurig and I cld make tea with that. You can't make tea with a Keurig(I'm English). Not good enough I'm afraid, we had to go and buy a kettle. Very disappointing and they weren't around to say goodbye.
Victoria actually did not stay as a guest in our cabin but booked for a co-worker. We're terribly sorry our cabin wasn't suitable for Margaret, the actual guest, and unfortunately we misunderstood and would have been happy to provide our tea kettle. We encourage potential guests to see our other 100 + reviews and our photos.
Julia and Tod were so welcoming and their beach hut was very sweet. Neighbourhood is very quiet and quaint and lovely to walk around. A short walk to Abbott Kinney and not far to Venice Beach. Julia was very considerate and equipped us with an army of fans to combat the LA heatwave. We had a lovely time there.
A great location and a perfect base for our exploration of Abbot Kinney and Venice! We really appreciated the booklet with maps and suggestions. Joe's restaurant was a particular favourite! The bungalow is well stocked with every day essentials from bathroom items to coffee and water. The private back entrance also meant that we felt we were not intruding but had our own separate space. Thank you for your warm hospitality and we would definitely stay again.
We've had a great stay at Julia's and are bummed to be checking out this morning! The guest house was as exactly as described and essentially feels like a stand alone studio apartment. The back yard garden area is really nice and relaxing. Parking on the street was easy and there was always an open spot. We really enjoyed the location as it is secluded and quiet but in walking distance to the main streets and the beach. You can also walk to the canals area of Venice which we Definitely recommend. Julia and her husband were very friendly and accommodating during our stay, and took the time to recommend a few local restaurants to us and tell us about neighborhood events. We'd recommend this airbnb to family and friends!
Our host, Julia, was home when we arrived and gave us a nice orientation to the bungalow and the surrounding area. The space was clean and the bed was very comfortable.we had plenty of privacy, but our host was around to offer recommendations as needed. There was cold water in a small 'fridge, coffee, and a few granola bars. The location is great for walking to Abbot-Kinney and about 1.6 miles to the beach. The lovely "walking" streets" are nearby and fun to expore.
Julia was extremely welcoming and easy to contact. The cottage is absolutely adorable and it felt like we belonged. The room was very comfortable and the amenities were great. Julia had everything we could need from mini fridge and snacks to toiletries etc. The location was perfect and it was quiet and private. She was informative about the community and had a binder of information about the area. There was also a super book on Venice history which was enjoyable to read during the peaceful mornings overlooking the native plant garden. The stay couldn't have been better.
Julia was there to welcome us when we arrived, and the room was available to us earlier than she originally planned. She explained the guide book and the ins and outs of the bungalow. There were toiletries, snacks and water provided. This was our first Airbnb experience, so we don’t have anything to compare it too, but overall it was a stress-free and enjoyable stay. The neighborhood was fantastic! The only draw back would be the lack of air conditioning.
About the Host, Julia
An east coast transplant like most of LA, I'm lucky to have found Venice 27 years ago drawn by its independence, culture, clean air, and of course the beach. My husband and I raised our 2 daughters here and we love it as much as when we first came. I like yoga, biking, hiking, music, going to cultural events, and trying out the ever growing new restaurants in area. I look forward to meeting folks from around the globe at our new airbnb!
