This condo in an old-school low-rise building is on a quiet street in the heart of Toronto. A perfect locale for business travellers, with both subway lines a block away, Rosedale, Yorkville and the Gay Village are also at your doorstep.
In the 1950s, this was a hotel, and in the 1990s it was restored and renovated. The character and charm of this building resembles the style of the New York apartment life.
The one-bedroom condo, 745 sq ft, is a corner unit, so there's lots of light throughout the day. The living/dining area is divided into three separate areas — lounge area, dining and work space. The galley kitchen, in a separate room, has lots of room for prep and includes a dishwasher and a Tassimo, with a well-stocked cupboard of pods for you to indulge in. Laundry facilities are beside the kitchen, and include a washer/dryer for your use.
The bedroom, with a queen bed, is big and serene, and comes with a (seriously) spacious en-suite bathroom. There's also a separate two-piece powder room in the front entrance.
The building is small, only eight floors with 55 units, and the space is very private. You have access to a small gym facility as well as a roof-top patio and a courtyard adjacent to the front entrance. In the unit itself, there's wifi and Apple TV, and a landline with free long-distance calls in Canada.
Interaction with guests
I live in the unit, but will be offsite during your stay. That said, as a born-and-bred Torontonian, as well as the former editor of the Toronto section of one of our national newspapers, my knowledge of the city is vast and I love to help people discover the real Toronto so would be happy to help you with tips, build an itinerary or show you around for an evening.
Other things to note
Please note, this apartment does NOT have a microwave.
If you're musically inclined, I have a piano, ukulele and a tambourine, which are at your disposal as well. :)
Absolutely no pets, no smoking, no excessive noise. No outside guests in the apartment, and please do not use washer/dryer or dishwasher after 10pm.
Tidiness and cleaning up after yourself is appreciated. Please remove shoes at the door. As this is a community-living environment, please respect other residents; keep noise levels to a minimum, especially when in the hallways/common areas.
Other than that, enjoy!
Hi! I spent much of 2013 travelling around the world (21 countries!) and using Airbnb as I moved from place to place. I met the kindest, most interesting people and got to see the cities I visited, from London to Istanbul to Cape Town, through local eyes.
I want to be able to provide the same experience to those visiting Toronto or Trogir, Croatia. If you have any questions about my apartments, or the cities in general, please send me a note. I'm happy to help.
