We loved our stay in Oaxaca at the Apartment with the View. Carlos was a great host and we hope to visit again soon.
Donna and Carlos were wonderful hosts and they have a lovely, peaceful spot in Oaxaca. Amazing location and comfortable apartment. We really enjoyed our stay!!
This lovely little apartment served as our headquarters and launch pad for all the wonderful delights to be found in el Centro. The apartment itself is nicely decorated with warm, artistic touches. Everything you need to cook, live and entertain is readily available.
The bedroom fan is possessed by a mischievous imp (it changes speeds on its own), but other than that, nothing was amiss.
The rest of the apartment complex is charming, with a rooftop view that starts your day off right. You can catch a glimpse of Santo Domingo's steeple or stare off into the mountains from the comfort of the hammock.
Donna and Carlos were wonderful hosts. They provided us recommendations, guide books, a map and fresh fruit and juices. They were very welcoming and checked in on us throughout our stay to ensure we were having a great time.
I loved staying here!
Excellent hosts, fantastic terrace with a wonderful view, perfect neighborhood next to Santo Domingo and the Jardín Botánico, fully equipped apartments. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing place to visit and experience Oaxaca. The hosts are incredibly helpful and providing.
This is the second time I've had the opportunity and joy to stay with Donna (first time for a month and second time for the weekend) and I can genuinely say there is no better place in Oaxaca to stay at! Location, location, location, additionally the apartment is extremely nice!
Staying in the upstairs apt. at Casa Zapoteca was a dream. Indeed, I'd very happily stay in any available apartment in the small complex during future visits. Location is perfect. The apt was absolutely perfect as well--very comfortable, beautiful, perfectly appointed, and then there is that fabulous roof deck with the incredible view of the Convento Sto. Domingo. As with others here, I really appreciated the provisions they kindly placed in the fridge (and the purified water that is available in the courtyard to bring to your apt). I felt completely safe, comfortable, and very much at home. Donna and Carlos (and even their little dog, Gardenia) are the perfect hosts. Donna and Carlos are warm, generous souls and interesting people with which to chat. They went out of their way to help me--e.g., arranging an early morning cab to the airport, and I hired Carols for a fabulous one day tour of outlying villages (ruins at Mitla, to meet a rug weaver from whom I ended up purchasing lovely rugs, to see a petrified waterfall, the Gigante tree, churches, an incredible lunch, a tour of a family-owned mezcal production)--a great whirlwind day! They also offered great restaurant and other sightseeing tips. All in all, a perfect experience and I can't wait to go back to this beautiful town and stay again with Donna and Carlos.

I came upon Oaxaca in the early seventies while traveling through Mexico and Central America looking at ancient ruins, pottery villages and having the adventure of a lifetime. As the years went by I continued to return to the"Land of Chapulines". It retained its magic. And so, in 1996 I gave up the life I loved in a big city and moved to Oaxaca to live a dream. I met my partner, Carlos, and together we renovated an old house in the "el centro".. Renting my own apartment in Casa Zapoteca, short term through airbnb, gives me the freedom to continue the exploration if only for a few weeks at a time.
