About this listing
Situated right off Central and just west of the Rio Grande, this house has a beautiful view of the river, city and mountains. The room has a separate entrance, with a half bath attached. You'll have access to a newly remodeled kitchen, full bathroom and living spaces.
This house has a fun and funky appeal. The vigas in the main house are old telephone poles topped by tongue and groove ceiling, the rest of the house has exposed beam wooden ceiling. The kitchen and living room afford great views. There are many comfortable places inside or out to sit and enjoy a drink, read a book or maybe watch the hot air balloons float by or the geese and cranes fly south.
The bedroom has a separate entrance from the yard. You are welcomed into the main house for bathing, cooking and tv/movie watching.
Interaction with Guests
I may or may not be home during your visit. Please feel free to chat with me if I'm around. If you want a more private experience, I'll be sure to give you space.
The house is right on the edge of the bluff west of the river. There is a great 2 level park about 3 blocks away which is a great place for a walk or run a while enjoying a great view. There is an awesome baja fish taco spot, my favorite New Mexican restaurant and The Monte Carlo Steak House (web search it, it's fun), grocery stores and more all withing a mile of the house. The house is 2 miles from Old Town and 4 miles from downtown and the train station.
There is on and off the street parking as well as a tandem bike or a beach cruiser available for use. The airport is less than 8 miles away, let me know if you'll be flying in and I share my shortest and an most interesting drive from there.
Other Things to Note
I have a sweet dog who may or may not say hello. Your dog or cat is welcome as long as they get along well with others. There is horse boarding within 5 miles for the cost of about $30 a night.
You are welcome to use the hot tub as long a you bathe before entering. There is a note outside near the tub letting you know how to care for the water if needed.
Please no smoking indoors and pick-up after yourself
Allegra's place was even better than described-the photos of the view don't do it justice! It was very clean and felt like very welcoming with all of the little details, such as tea and eclectic guide books. I would absolutely stay here again, it was by far my favorite of the accommodations I booked for my trip.
Both Allegra and her cat were extremely kind. I had a great quiet sleep at her home. Good luck with your art making!
Allegra was a very gracious host. We stayed one night on our way to Colorado. The bed was very comfortable.
Friendly, homey, great view of the city. Allegra was very welcoming and accommodating. Got in late, slept, and were out the door. Great value!
I needed a place to stay for one night while traveling with my dog and cat. Allegra was very friendly and welcoming. There's a nice park within walking distance from her house which gave my dog and I a chance to stretch our legs after a day on the road.
The room was clean and the bed comfortable. It did not seem as if there was A/C but Allegra provided a fan and I slept comfortably.
Overall, a positive experience.
I got to Allegra's home late at night and found the room very warm and welcoming. The bed was very comfortable and the room private. I was leaving for Santa Fe the next day so I didn't get a chance to spend a lot of time with Allegra, but she was very accommodating. She took me on a mini driving tour of Albuquerque, helped me find a place to leave my bag for the day and dropped me off in Old Town to stroll while I waited for my ride. The view is breathtaking!
Returned to Allegra's place on my way back home, and it was just as pleasant. Restroom and bedroom were well kept as usual and Allegra and I had a nice chat after I arrived. Couldn't stay as long as I did the first time, but I was well rested after a night there. Neighborhood is quiet and there's a nice taco place within walking distance, and it's fairly close to the major highways.
About the Host, Allegra
I am a maker, I have a small shop on the property and create many things mostly from wood to sell around town. Just ask, and I'd love to take you on a little tour.
