It's hard to overstate how great the neighborhood is. It is very pedestrian and bike friendly. The apartment is within 2-3 blocks of the best local cafe, local bookstore, local videostore, a ton of dining options (including 3 of the best restaurants in Louisville), bars, grocery store, movie theaters, bike shop, vintage goods, and the library. In addition, Cherokee Park is down the street and features hiking & biking trails, golf course, tennis courts, etc.
The apartment is a 5 minute drive (10 minute bike ride) to NuLu (East Market Street), downtown, and the downtown hospital district, and 10-12 minute drive to Churchill Downs. Local buses run regularly along Bardstown Rd, two blocks away. If you want to go further afield, the highway is close by and you can easily get to Bluegrass and/or Bourbon country.
