On Druid Hill resides a comfortable artist's home that includes an extensive sculpture garden, The Mechanical Riverfront Kingdom, 30 years in the making. It's drive-by Commuter Gallery was featured on the CBS Sunday Morning Show. It is a local landmark previously featured in Discover DeKalb magazine(2017-18) and Atlanta Magazine(June 2018). Your privacy, comfort, and enjoyment is of the utmost concern to your host, artist Clark Ashton. Bookings support preservation of this unique environment.

The space
The Mechanical Riverfront Kingdom on Druid Hill was established in November 1984. The Commuter Gallery was established in 1989. Since then I have built hundreds of objects including: Sky Saws, Control Towers, Vulture Poles, Superstructures, Sperm Skeletons, eelmen, Sky Scratchers, 65 Stoves, an Ascension Machine, and a Defension Machine. Several times these independent works have coalesced into complete cosmologies rendering them inseparable from each other. Most importantly, I believe they have become a part of a larger scheme, reflecting the machinations and beliefs that configure human existence through daily life.
In this collection of work, the two most powerful conceptual forces in the history of human culture, God and Money, are examined as they exert themselves on nationalistic tendencies. More broadly, these works examine the nature of faith, power, value systems, and systems of belief. They seek to stimulate the American consciousness through interaction with souls in transit on the mechanical river, resulting in a proliferation of independent thought, and leading to the generation of positive new ideas directed towards the sustainability of the planet and a better world for its inhabitants.
The Mechanical Riverfront Kingdom on Druid Hill is my vision of an integrated world of life and art, which includes sound philosophical underpinnings and a commitment to create meaningful work of lasting value that will stand the test of time and provide insight and inspiration for many future generations. It is an effort to exist on my own terms as I search for meaning, order, and purpose while interacting with the community at large and interpreting contemporary society through visual art.

Guest access
The base rental includes bedroom, living room, dining room, kitchen, and study, with full access to the grounds for 1 or 2 people. These interior spaces are private to your group. There are no multi-family/unknown guest sharing type situations. Maximum house occupancy is 2 people.

Other things to note
Somewhat unlikely, but occasionally you may encounter tourists exploring the sculpture garden during daylight hours.
