We were pretty disappointed with our host and the apartment. It all began with a misunderstanding related to our arrival time. Before arriving to Berlin we spent 2 days in Amsterdam. Knowing that we will not have cell phones in Europe, we had sent an email to Michael 2 days before we left Toronto. We specified our arrival time 8:00 pm. But for some reason Michael didn't get our email, and wasn't waiting for us. (It will be a separate question for airbnb why the email wasn't delivered and why I wasn't informed that something was wrong). The concierge at the building was very unpleasant, even rude, and didn't allow us to use his phone. Fortunately, there were some nice Berliners on the street who let us use their cell phone to call Michael. He spent couple of minutes scolding us. He didn't believe that I had sent him an email, he didn't want to hear me, and he kept on lecturing me about how we are not professional! Finally he arrived, let us in, and charged us 25 for late arrival. Both sides in this situation were equally right, and equally wrong, yet Michael behaved as we were little children that needed some scolding. Very unprofessional, I would say.
Please note that in addition to 25 euros late arrival charge, we had to pay additional 15 euros for some kind of tax.
The apartment is at good location, it was nice, and clean but:
1. Sofa bed in the living room was broken. Two people who slept there had trouble sleeping: if one person gets up, the other falls down.
2. One chair was broken
3. Bathroom door knob was broken.
4. The wi-fi would unexpectedly go down many times a day.
Not all of that is a big deal if you had a pleasant host, but after a long lecture about professionalism, we were really upset with these malfunctions.
On top of that the view is far from spectacular.
Michael spoiled our stay in Berlin, and I would not recommend him as a host.
l'appartamento è bellissimo come da foto. La zona ottima, centrale e ben collegata con tutti i mezzi (metro a pochi passi e fermata autobus sotto il palazzo). Ospitalità impeccabile!
Very good location. Convenient to many areas. Exactly as described. Clean, quiet, nice.
Michael's apartment is great and Daniel has been really helpful. Daniel was waiting for us in the front and helped us with ordering a taxi to go to the main train station. The location was perfect! Walking distance to Freidrichstrasse, Checkpoint Charlie, Gendarmermarkt, Potzdamer Platz, which made it easy for us to find something to eat. Daniel also mentioned there was a historic chinese restaurant since East Berlin era close to the apartment which we missed but certainly sounded interesting!
The appartment was very nice, the view incredible and stores and metrostations were really easy to reach by foot! Very nice stay, recommendable for everyone!
The aparment is what we were expecting in Berlin, close to main landmarks, easy access to Metro or main avenues, restaurants and grocery store just 50 mts away. Michael and Daniel are always available and able to communicate with you for any enquire. We really recommend this place.
A great apartment in a quiet locale in Berlin. The bedroom was very spacious and the views from the balcony at sunset were a treat. We were three adults sharing the apartment and it worked out great. I loved how close this apartment was to the Gendarmenmarkt (a stop on the hop-on/hop-off bus tours), and we appreciated the guidebook in the apartment with recommendations on where to dine/drink/shop in the area.
Overall good experience. Our expectation was quite high since photos were too good. Furniture and utensils were mostly IKEA stuff and weren't enough for 4 people, especially the coffee mugs (only 3 and two were kind of broken or quite bad inside). Another disappointing thing was the toilet paper. I haven't seen such bad quality one in my life and it wasn't enough. We ran out of it on the last day :( Luckily there was a LIDL on the adjacent building.
