We rent the spare room of our apartment which is on the edge of a beautiful valley and working farm, yet we are within walking distance from a pretty town and 10 minutes from Siena (25 minutes by bus). There is no need to have a car if you want to stay here. We live in the house so here is no "hotel/B&B"..
The view from the living room/kitchen and small lodge is on a magic tuscan scenary; there is a typical fire place; there is free wi-fi; washing machine; dish washer; free parking; shops and restaurant within walking distance. You can purchase here the great wines of our production and a great extra-virgin olive oil.
The spare room is charming and comfortable, with typical tuscan iron beds (one big bed or two as you prefer); the bathroom is just outside of it but will be just for your personal use.
Guests share with us our living-room/kitchen, they are welcome to cook; they can use the huge outdoor areas.
They will have their own bedroom and bathroom with shower (we might use only the washing machine there).
My boyfriend and I live in the house (but we have our own bathroom), so, if you want we can spend some time in conversation, if you wish privacy, this is also possible.
We are available for you anythime you wish, to give you all the informations and suggestions. You will have the chance to meet local and get to know some real italian living.
San Rocco is a pretty village within walking distance whith 5 restaurants, 3 bars, one of the greates ice cream place of the entire province of Siena, big and well furnished supermarket, a grocery with delicious local products, pharmacy, clothing shops, post office, hair dressers, laundry mat..everything! Bus for here to Siena runs almost every hour (less on sundays and holidays), and in 25 minutes you are in the city center of Siena.
In half an hour by car from here you can also reach: Montalcino, Pienza, San Gimignano, Volterra, the Abby of San Galgano, the Crete Senesi, the Chianti area, the Maremma area; in one hour: the sea, Florence, Montepulciano, Perugia &Umbria, Massa Marittima.
If you are by bus you have all the connections to these places from Siena center (only 25 minutes away) OR there are some great tours and wine tours you can book and they pick you up directely at our front door.
If you are smokers this can be allowed on the balcony or at the fire place; pets can be allowed but we have to agree about it first.
The rules of the house are those of respectful and responsable people: treat the house as it was theirs, not waste of water, heating and electricity.
You may take away your trash at the public cans along the public road.
We will give you a clean bedroom and bathroom and excpect to find it in the same conditions: soaps and stuff will be available all the time both in the bathroom and in the kitchen which you are welcome to share with us.
Bice was an excellent hostess. She was only too happy to share her intimate knowledge of Siena, San Gimignano and the Chianti region and had a selection of maps and travel information that was really helpful when we planned our days. As well as this, Bice is a very warm and welcoming person. She invited us to share in her own farm-produced wine, made an open log fire for us on the one day that it was raining and was delightful company on the evenings that we stayed at home telling us stories about the region and about her other travels in general.
Bice and Pietro were wonderful hosts! Bice was just gorgeous and so helpful giving us great tips on food and where to go. Her family farm was stunning and we enjoyed just wandering around the property and absorbing the picturesque Tuscan countryside. The farm was in San Rocco a cute and local spot an easy 20 minutes by bus from Siena central. There are a few nice local restaurants and a supermarket very nearby to the farmhouse so you can easily spend your days relaxed in San Rocco. Bice was so helpful in finding us a bus and organising us a taxi on the Sunday we left (even though she was away for the weekend!) as transport is limited on Sundays and we hadn't organise anything, this was a great help!
All in all we had a wonderful time felt very comfortable and would love to come back! Highly recommended!
We had a great stay at Bice's. Both she and her boyfriend are very friendly. The room & bathroom are clean and have what you need. The surroundings are stunning. Great location very close to Siena. Good value for money.
Bice and Pietro are both really nice hosts. They provided us a very warm welcome and gave us an excellent explanation about what to see or to do during our stay. We highly recommend to stay here. We didn't feel like tourists we felt like friends visiting Bice and Pietro for a couple of days.
What an amazing place to stay with wonderful hosts! Bice was amazingly helpful right from the start- helping us to set up a private transfer once we got to the train station in Siena (that way we didn't have to figure out the bus initially after already taking four trains to get there). Upon arrival, Bice gave us a tour of the property, provided us with some suggestions for food, and helped to set up a wine tour. So kind!!!! The room itself was lovely, and the views from the property were perfect. Bice and her boyfriend were around if we had any questions or if we wanted to chat. All in all, I only have amazing things to stay about this experience- we would definitely stay here again!
You really can't ask for anything better than this for your stay in Tuscany. The property is simply fantastic and the room just what you need--clean and simple with your own bathroom. San Rocco is a 5-minute walk with a few small family restaurants sure to meet your needs, a bank, grocery market and everything else you need. It was a great home base for exploring the region although I'll warn that you'll be very enchanted with the property itself and may not want to venture out :) Bice is incredibly warm and inviting, as well as full of good information on where to go, how to book trips, etc. It was such a treasure to come home and share our day's adventures and ask questions about what we saw and how life unfolds under the Tuscan sun.
