About this listing

The space

Senderos de Paz – Paths of Peace, is a 7.5 acre oasis, 55 yards above sea level and just 150 yards from the beautiful beach of Playa Manzanillo and a nice walk or quick drive to the breathtaking beach of Playa Hermosa.

Located just 10 - 15 minutes north of Santa Teresa, you'll find all the peace and tranquility you need, but close enough to jump in a car or 4-wheeler and have access to anything and everything one could want.

Bungalows Guayacan are set around a huge, endangered hardwood tree named the Guayacan. The Guayacan sits around the pool towards the ocean side of the property.

There are three bungalows, two fitted with queen beds and the third with bunk beds. Each has a full kitchen, small refrigerator, gas stove, coffee maker and all the kitchenware you'll need.

The bungalows are built in a simple one room studio style with the kitchen and bedroom on opposite sides of the floor plan and a separate bathroom area with the patios placed for pool, monkey, bird, and ocean viewing. The bungalows were completed in June 2012 with laurel wood ceilings and paneling and the patios, door and window frames all accented in teak.

All bungalows come completely furnished, fully equipped, and are surrounded by lush gardens, gravel walkways, private parking, pressurized hot/cold water, SKY/cable TV, wireless internet, cleaning service, gardener and laundry facilities and/or service needed.

I purchased the land in 2001 and began gardening, planting and reforesting in 2004. The property has transformed from vines and brush for cows into walking trails and gardens with over 30 different type of native trees within half an acre (2000 meters) of the bungalows.

Take time to walk along the trails of our 7 acre property...look for coatis, anteaters, jaguarundis, white face and howler monkeys, various bird species, and iguanas...or find one of our sitting areas and just watch and listen to the ocean.

We are here to help with any questions or needs, so sit back, relax, and enjoy your stay with us...

Also, in Manzanillo there are 2 mini-supermarkets, 2 typical restaurants, a fantastic seafood restaurant and an excellent pizzeria.

Trey's place is great if you're looking for a getaway. Well kept, beautiful grounds, clean, and relaxing. You will need some sort of transport (moto/ATV/car).

We went to stay at Senderos de Paz for our Spring break. Trey is great and super helpful. He helped me find an awesome surf instructor in town. The house was great. Perfect for what we needed. It was a super cool property with a view on the ocean/sunset. There was this huge covered outdoor hardwood floor thing overlooking the view where yo could do yoga, plus two pools on the property. He has a lady working for him who will clean your room or do your laundry which was unexpected. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The road to get up there is a dirt road and the little car we rented definitely made it, but we wish we would have rented something a little higher off the ground. I think you definitely want a vehicle if you are going to stay here. There are tons of things to do all over the southern nicoya peninsula in many different supercool towns, as well as a nature reserve Cabo Blanco not too far away. I would definitely go back.

Great quiet location. A bit away from beaches, restaurants, shops. Recommend renting a SUV or 4 Wheeler. If you have transportation don't think twice. Book Trey's. Soon adding restaurant to property, making own beer, has yoga and amazing sunsets. Trey is a great guy and so easygoing. Brought us cheeseburgers for dinner one night. Monkeys by hotel pool every night. Normally spent the night right outside the room. Santa Theresa awesome. Mel Gibson, Mel Brooks, Supermodel Gisele and more all have homes in the area. Describe area as casual chic, and unspoiled. Enjoy!!!

This place was a perfect location for visiting the beach towns in the area. The room is small, but has a queen bed, a kitchen, and a bathroom. Outside there is a small table with two chairs and a pool just a few steps away. The grounds are a beautifully landscaped section of the jungle that Trey continues to improve. There is also a nice sized pavilion that probably built more as a yoga studio but turns out to be the perfect spot to watch the sunset over the Pacific every evening. Families of monkeys pass through daily for great photo ops. The location is on a hill between the towns of Manzanillo and Santa Teresa. The area is almost exclusively dirt roads so renting a car or ATV is the best way to go. Use the WAZE app on your phone to get around, it was a life saver! It only takes a few minutes to drive into town where there are lots of shops, restaurants, and beautiful beaches. You can walk to the beach at the bottom of the hill, but be aware that it is a pretty big climb back to the top. Trey was a great host. We saw him daily and hit him up for lots of advice and suggestions for things to do. He and Jaqueline even hosted a Super Bowl party for those of us around that evening. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend Trey's property for anyone planning to visit this area and wanting to stay in a beautiful location just out of town, but close enough to take advantage of the facilities there.

We enjoyed 9 nights at Senderos de Paz and would come back again in a heart beat. When the usual array of travel unexpected adventures turns happened (flat tired etc) Trey was super helpful with any issues and had lots of great suggestions for the city and things to do/eat. We wanted to be off the beaten track and out of the city and Senderos de Paz fit the bill perfectly. We surfed every day at Playa Hermosa which was a 7-10 minute drive. If you book this place you'll need either a car or preferably an ATV while you're there. We couldn't have survived without one.

Trey was ABSOLUTELY amazing! The room was amazing - it contains a very comfortable bed, great nathroom, stove top, pots, pans, utensils, and a refrigerator. The location is a 10 min walk from a VERY private beach; 4 mins with a car. The location is about 10-15 min drive from Santa Teresa. He has loads of recommendations, and took my girlfriend and I on an awesome fishing and paddleboarding trip - well worth the money - HIGHLY advise it, or anything else he has available. The ONLY suggestion that I'd make is to get a 4x4 - we didnt, and some of the roads are really, REALLY difficult to navigate through - loads of potholes and unpaved roads; but this has nothing to do with Trey and his property. We cannot wait to go back!!!!!

We enjoyed our stay at Senders de Paz very much. The facility was what we expected. Note the photographs are from some years ago and the lushness of the trees and foilage is greater. Monkey's spent the day with us by the pool and we saw many birds. We would definitely stay again. The only feedback for improvement I could offer would be that what we really enjoyed was the casual atmosphere and easy way of being at Senders de Paz, but that casualness extended a bit too far and our room wasn't cleaned every 3-days as outlined, and the pool upkeep was a bit spotty. Having said that, our host Jacqueline was helpful and available. She arranged an ATV at a very competitive rate for us and guided us so that our stay was memorable. We stayed 9 nights. I would recommend this property without reservation. Lesley Hamilton

I'm a surfer/traveler who stumbled upon Mal Pais and Santa Teresa in 1993 and never could quite let go. I made the Manzanillo/Playa Hermosa area my home in 2001 and have never looked back - great waves, incredible natural setting, and interesting people - I've found my paradise.

I've been fortunate to have lived all over the US, travel the roads with rock bands, drive through Central America by Jeep, live in Europe and Japan - all the while surfing - but I have been more fortunate to have had total strangers open their homes, hearts, family and cultures to me and show me things I could have never learned on my own. I'll never be able to thank them for their kindness and teachings, but I can repay them by passing what I can on to others. There's nothing I enjoy more thansharing what I've found here in this small, but unique corner of the world.
