Lovely queen bed in a bright and cheerful house. One of two rooms the other is a king found at Vermont Bike, Hike and Ski. All part of a beautiful 3 bedroom home tucked into a 30 year old barn. A wonderfully warm and inviting place to read or stay.

The space

A lovely barn built in 1990 as a wood shop and then converted to a lovely home. Warm and inviting no matter what the season. When it is freezing outside the natural light makes it a warm place to sit and just look at the view. When warmer the back porch is a great place to watch the wildlife and sometimes domesticated cattle. If so inclined you can wander to the pond and watch the beavers at work.

Guest access

Guests will come and go using the front door of the house well hidden behind a barn door. A key will be provided so folks can come and go at will. Under an hour from Middlebury, Dartmouth, Vermont Law School and Norwich.

Interaction with guests

Bill the host will be around at some point during the stay and at night as well. A very lovely but casual place. There are actually two rooms one a queen and one a king so one may meet folks from other parts of the world during their stay and or other friends of the host.

Other things to note

Same day reservations are not accepted, this an airbnb/home not a hotel. If one is visiting colleges this is an excellent location. In less than an hour one can be at Middlebury College, Dartmouth, VTC, Vermont Law School, Castleton College, College of St Joseph's and New England Culinary Institute. At an hour and fifteen minutes you have UVM and St Michaels College and Green Mountain College. www.middtastingtrail, Middlebury College Parents Weekend, Graduation.

We had a lovely week in Rochester and staying at Bill's place was definitely a highlight. We enjoyed big open space in the barn (tons of windows!), sitting in the back to enjoy the views and nature, and the ease of communicating with Bill. We were thankful for a nicely stocked kitchen as well as access to the grill. We will definitely be back!

Our stay here was excellent. The barn conversion was very well done, roomy and well furnished. Very quiet and scenic location.

Bill was a great host. He was on top of communicating with us and made sure to give extra directions to his place. His house was beautiful, neat, and clean. The room was set up nicely with towels and plenty of extra pillows and blankets. I highly suggest chatting with Bill as he is very interesting and has lots of cool stories to share. He knows the area well and gave us some great suggestions of local places to eat. In the morning he made us delicious eggs and coffee even though we left quite early. We'll definitely be staying here again on our next trip to Vermont!

Bill as a very friendly guy and easy to talk to. This was just the relaxed atmosphere that we was looking for. He went above and beyond what I was expecting with accommodations. He has a unique home with great character in the middle of really wonderful scenery. It was just the getaway that we were looking for.

Bill was fantastic-- I would recommend that anyone looking to experience the beauty of Vermont stay with Bill. Bill was extremely knowledgeable about the area and recommended a fantastic road bike route for us to take from Middlebury to Burlington. He knows all about where to mountain bike, cycle, hike, ski... pretty much anything you'd like to do across Vermont, Bill can help. When we were lost on the way in, Bill even messaged me with his phone number to help. I would recommend screenshotting or printing out directions to Bill's place-- use Quarry Road instead of Saw Mill Hill road-- also use (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Maps instead of Waze to avoid driving into someone's backyard instead of Bill's driveway. Bill was accommodating and generous. He offered us breakfast, coffee, bottled water for the road-- wonderful host and such a cool home-- a converted barn into a lovely, comfortable home. Highly recommend staying with Bill!

Brian and I loved staying with Bill and Jean. The house was beautiful. We arrived late Friday and they welcomed us by inviting us to hang out and chat around their campfire. In the morning bill made us a delicious breakfast while we talked some more. Bill and Jean are both incredibly nice, and Bill has a great book collection! I'm looking forward to visit again and spending some more time there.

Middle aged father of three all of whom have been launched. Have had an interesting and very diverse career that has allowed me to travel and work within Europe and Asia as well as throughout the US. Interests from non traditional farming, optics, high speed manufacturing, all forms of energy, traditional as well as green, carpentry and design. Presently working as a consultant in the photonics business and restoring older Vermont homes. Love to travel and get to know different cultures and people. Prefer b&bs or renting apartments to staying in hotels. I enjoy traveling in Europe where English is not the first language. Figuring out how to get around and then taking in the local architecture which says so much about what is important for me. I love good conversation, good wine, a great cup of coffee, unusual cheeses and breads and i am always trying the local food where ever i travel. Dinner is about having a good conversation and discussing the things that are important in life. I also enjoy just sitting out on the porch watching the stars or the sun setting on the mountains listening to nature.
