Let me know if you need a pick up from Ganges or Long Harbour. There is a bus from Fulford to Ganges if you need it which meets the ferry and is $2.25/trip.
My partner and I had a great relaxing weekend at Maryanna's cottage. It was cozy and warm, just what we were looking for. The only down side was the toilet is in the room without walls or a door. That aside we had a great time walking around the island, sitting in the hot tub, playing games, etc.
My partner and I had a lovely stay at Maryanna's cottage. It was a cozy weekend adventure - I imagine in any weather it would be a great experience. We had snow and rain and found it to be absolutely perfect.
Great experience to be in the forest to hug a tree and in such a cozy little studio. It really enlightens you as to what you really need in life. I would sum it up as "less is more and without compromise".
Maryanna is a wonderful host and really makes you feel at home and at peace. Sitting outside in the hot tub under the stars is just another added bonus.
I went to Salt Spring to play my guitars, read, write, and be in the forest. The cabin was perfect for that. It is cozy and intimate. I'd say it would be ok for a couple to be there for 2 or 3 days (unless they absolutely adore being with one another every minute of the time they're not out doing other things). I was there alone for 5 days, and would've been comfortable for longer. It was really cold (for the west coast) when I was there, and Maryanna, put in an extra heater, which got the place nice and warm. If you're going in the winter, consider taking warm slippers. The shower's outside, so be prepared for that. Hot tub is just steps away; nice to gaze up through the cedars and firs at the stars. The bed is up a short ladder, so you need to be a little nimble. I cooked all of my breakfasts and dinners. There's not enough space and appliances to get elaborate, but you can feed yourself adequately.
Nice little porch to sit on (it was too cold for me to do that), with a view through some cedars and firs to a farm below.
It was all very lovely. I'd go again, for sure.
I came with my boyfriend for our anniversary at Maryanna's cottage and although we didn't get a chance to meet her, we could tell what kind of a person she is- caring, generous, tidy, and thoughtful. The cabin, although small, was just what we were hoping for... cozy, romantic, and fun. It had everything we needed inside, and was so close to town, although we really enjoyed being near the trees/nature and spent the evening playing cards inside, listening to some fabulous jazz rather than being downtown. We knew to expect not having a door to the toilet because we'd seen another review, so hopefully this review will do the same for someone else. The hot tub was a perfect touch and overall we felt right at home. Thanks so much for the great memories... would recommend, and we also hope to be back soon :)
I had such a lovely stay at Maryanna's magical cottage. The cabin is absolutely perfect for the traveler hoping not to eat out too much, as Maryanna has the kitchen fixed with all the necessities and more! The cinnamon, honey, salt, pepper, olive oil, mustard, and every kitchen utensil you could imagine made it effortless to save money during my getaway. The cabin itself is absolutely beautiful and has a very mystical feel to it. You're safe and warm and nestled among the trees. I wholeheartedly recommend this adorable cottage to anybody who's looking for a peaceful and meditative getaway. Thanks again, Maryanna, and I am looking forward to returning in future! :)
It was perfect. It actually wasn't even as small as we had expected. It is perfectly big enough for everything you'd need in a few night's stay. My partner was surprised that there is no separate room for the toilet, I should have warned him.
Maryanna was lovely, the space was lovely, nice attention to detail, and great value. The hot tub is in quite a majestic space surrounded by trees and fairy lights in the bushes.
A note to taller people, if you are over 6' 1" you will not fit in the bed due to the bottom railing.
Gracious host, great hot tub, cozy cottage. That with the trees and stars made it a memorable stay. The only hiccup was that it was not explicitly stated that there was no separate room/door for the bathroom. The space is very small, but the host made sure everything we would need was there. Overall a wonderful experience.
