Interaction with Guests
I am usually able to welcome you and show you where everything is. If there is anything you need, please, just ask.
Let me know if you need a pick up from Ganges or Long Harbour. There is a bus from Fulford to Ganges if you need it which meets the ferry and is $2.25/trip.
Everything was as promised! A charming, secluded cabin. Hot tub was great and really appreciated the activity and restaurant recommendations left by the host. Had a very enjoyable experience!
Maryanna was a kind and gracious host! And her tiny cottage was a lovely retreat for us -- a private, pleasant, tranquil, refreshing place to spend a few nights. This would be an ideal spot for a writer looking to go to his quiet place.
Maryanna responded right away to our last minute request to stay at her charming cottage on Salt Spring Cottage. It turns out she had just returned from an extended trip out of the country so it was especially kind of her to host us last minute. We loved the rustic little cottage in the woods! However, the cottage might not be for someone who is used to more traditional lodging so please take the time to read Maryanna's description in deciding if it's for you. If you are flexible and open to something different, you will enjoy the cottage. Maryanna did a fabulous job providing useful information to assist guests -- for example, she put together a lovely little book with details about things to do on the island and another binder with menus from all the nearby restaurants so you can decide where to go eat. We enjoyed the hot tub and outdoor shower. We would definitely stay at Maryanna's cottage again.
Only great things to say about our weekend stay at this cottage. Maryanna was very sweet and welcoming and everything was set up upon arrival, including the hottub. The cottage included everything you need to keep
Comfortable and was within walking distance to Ganges village which boasts a number of unique cafes and restaurants, a great Saturday market and Outdoor activities. Our favourite was the treehouse cafe which is literally built around a tree in the middle of the village. We also rented scooters for 4 hours which was a perfect amount of time to cruise around and check out the island. Anyone looking for a relaxing, comfortable and unique weekend I would suggest staying at Maryannas cottage!
You never know what to expect when you book a place through AirBnB and then arrive; Maryanna’s ‘Sweet Cottage’ is one of these places. It far exceeded our expectations and were genuinely touched by her gracious, kind and gentle demeanour. Her sweet cottage features a few of her lovely works, highlighting her artistic and creative talents and serving to echo the special place you are in. The garden is a bright, colourful and easy going space with a soothing water fountain and amazing rhododendron blooms and columbines during our stay. It is surrounded by a lot of forest and grand trees offering privacy, along with the presence of avian songs. It is all a true reflection of your host’s beautiful energy.
The one-room cottage is outfitted with everything you need for the duration of your stay (minus your meals, of course). The outdoor shower and hot tub are heavenly, and offer a lot more privacy than you can imagine. The cottage is rustic, but homey and very comfortable. For us, it became a sacred space; a place to regenerate, connect with one’s spirit, heart, the universe as a whole while unfolding in the morning light with gentle yoga stretches or sit in the garden basking in the morning rays of the sun, reading, writing, listening to soothing music or simply being. You come here to disconnect from the often chaotic demands of everyday life and busy pace of the world; it is in true tune with life on Salt Spring Island. You and nature are in sync; present with all your natural surroundings.
Staying at Maryanna’s cottage was beyond a magical experience for us. It was transformative and restorative, and leaving it was a saddening experience, but you never forget how special and cherished both Maryanna and her grounds are. We are so grateful for her gestures of hospitality when we saw her and the beautiful space she has so lovingly created and shared – it sets it apart. You come here to experience joy in the presence of so much pleasure.
Maryanna's cottage was a great place to stay for a night. She was very welcoming, her description was accurate and the hot tub was ideal.
