Interaction with Guests
I check in with my guests after arrival, allowing them to get settled. You are provided with a combination for ease of arriving on your own schedule. It seems texting is becoming the best way to communicate - with at least one introductory meeting to shake hands. Tight schedules and early morning departures often make it difficult to meet up, but taking walks on local hikes together and a sharing a dinner out have been known to happen.
Walking distance to everything. Just 2 blocks north of downtown. Quiet street.
Most you can access on foot. Tourism and local buses a few short blocks away. Close to restaurants and tourism activities - the downtown dock within 5 minutes walks. Local hiking trails 5 minutes the other direction!
Joanie's lovely little cottage was comfy, clean, quiet and close to everything I needed during my stay in Juneau. The fully appointed kitchen came in quite handy too. Joanie was very easy to work with and made sure that I had everything I needed.
I'd recommend this lovely cottage to anyone needing a nice quiet place to stay in downtown Juneau.
Joanie's place was perfect for me. It was clean, comfortable, easy to check in, and a minute from downtown, yet quiet. She communicated well throughout, and checked in enough to be sure everything was going well during my stay. I really enjoyed my stay at her cottage and will stay there again without hesitation! Mark
What a great find! The cottage is warm and comfortable, extremely convenient for downtown, and had everything we needed for our 8 night stay. It was nice to wake up early before the city woke up and walk down to the water and see the sun hit the mountaintop. Restaurants, cafes, and shops are nearby and we especially liked V's Cellar Door! Joanie is a great host, warm, friendly and helpful. She is easily available via phone or text if you need her. We didn't have a chance to try her sauna or massages next door but they looked wonderful. We will definitely stay again.
Great reception (fruit and perfectly cozy environment, even sunshine!), adorable hostess, location very convenient to buzzing all about town. Altogether delightful experience and I sure hope to go back sometime.
Accueil formidable (des fruits et aménagement chaleureux, même du soleil!) hôtesse adorable, location très convenable pour aller partout en ville à pied et en bus. Expérience très agréable qu'on espère répéter un de ces jours.
Thank you Joanie!!!!!
Joanie was a perfect host. Friendly, helpful and she supplied plenty of information about the local area. Stone's Throw Cottage is literally what it says. The location was incredibly convenient for everything we were doing in Juneau. Visiting the glacier we picked up the Blue glacier express at the bus terminal, in walking distance. Harv and Mar's whale tour, we were picked up outside the Red Dog Saloon, in walking distance. Perseverance trail, start of which was in walking distance. And fabulous food in Grumpy's, and the Hanger both also in walking distance. We had a great time in Juneau and Joanie and Stone's Throw Cottage contributed hugely in that. Oh, and due to out telephones not working in the US, Joanie arranged for our taxi to pick us up at 5.30 am for our trip back to the airport, which turned up with a lovely lady driver dead on time. Thank you Joanie. All much appreciated, x
We loved staying at Joanie's cottage in Juneau. It was charming, comfortable, centrally located and perfect for our 4 day stay. Joanie was very friendly and helpful and having a massages at her spa next door was the perfect addition to our stay. Much better than a motel!
wir kamen spät Abends an. Einlass kein Problem und unkompliziert mit Cod. frische Handtücher, gutes Dusch/Shampoo. das Cottage ist eher feucht wenn es viel Regnet aber ein Entfeuchter war vorhanden.

Artist, traveler, long-time Alaskan, and great risk- taker. My home is in the little remote town of Gustavus, but I moved into the "big city" of Juneau to take a job. I tell folks "I'm 'In Town' for a decade". So, I've fixed up the Gustavus Getaway, and hired Lori as Manager to share my Gustavus cottage with visitors during the summer months. I bought a place in Juneau, along with the adjacent home, built in 1910, with the intent of renovating them for the fun of it. With the vision of putting a roof-garden on top of the cottage right in the middle of downtown Juneau (stay tuned!)!, the renovation project seems to have taken on a life of its own - resulting in the Stone's Throw Cottage. The two cottages are just asking for an adventure package to link them together via a 20-minute plane ride or a 4-hour ferry ride; still working on that. Thus far I have only met wonderful people who have appreciated the two places separately - and I have appreciated hearing about and being a part of their traveling adventures.
