Second biggest city in the UK yet like everywhere in the world, everything happens in the city centre.
postcode B1 means it's in the most central and high-taxed area in Birmingham. We are right in the middle of the mailbox (canal-side restaurants & cinema) and cube (new skyline bar & luxury spa facilities)
Short walk from the train station and to all main attractions, location is really perfect.
It's a shared apartment with private room and shared bathroom.
If you are into music and art like me, next to the great architectural library there is symphony hall , home for world class City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. National Indoor Arena, REP theatre, Hippodrome ballet theatre for all the fantastic musicals and shows.
Also worth mention, Chinatown is just a few minutes on foot from our cozy apartment. Menu from China, Vietnam , Malaysia to Taiwanese Bubble tea.
Experience a laid-back city stay: We love to bring out the best for our guests, all the bed materials are carefully selected including a nice & soft double bed, duck feather duvet and Egypt cotton towels.
The first thing you see when you walked in, is a beautiful white babygrand piano which guests are more than welcome to play on and relax after a long day.. A few steps to your room the floor changed from solid wood to carpet. Room is city centre standard size wouldn't want you expect a country yard experience, hopefully it's cozy and relaxing. There is a heater, wardrobe, night lamp and 1 small table next to the bed, wireless internet is essential for me when I travel. Good size Kitchen with electric hob and a big dinning table incase our guest wants to make a big feast and invite us for dinner..
Shower room: Spacious shower room comfortable for 2 people. Towel heater makes sure your clothes are nice and warm.
Road parking from 70p per hour, free after 6pm and free on Sunday.
Although it’s called an apartment, our flat is located on the ground floor with no neighbours attached to, no need to go through any lift or any common area makes it a lot easier to wheel your luggages in. It actually feels like a house except everything is a lot more secured, you can’t get in without a key, and you cant get out without a key too.
The concierge is very helpful to leave keys at the reception if needed.
Interaction with Guests
There is one thing makes our flat unique than other city centre flat, we have a roof garden with benches and table that guests can have access at any time.
This is my first property, I did a lot of research before purchasing it, there were 4 qualities that I was looking for.
1) I don't drive so everything need to be within walking distance.
2) I am a foreign female, 24 hours security, and using key fob rather than password ensure me the safety.
3) I am a musician, noise volume need to be as down as possible, so not attached to any flat is perfect.
4) Quality leisure neiborhood; Mailbox is one of the spots for free music events, canel is good for jogging, Cuba has the best gym in town ( as a member, I can bring anyone in to enjoy steam room, sauna, jacuzi, gym equipments and yoga class for £15 only (regular price £45)
I play classical, jazz, rock and Bollywood music. My partner is a professional photographer in fashion, portrait, hair and magazine.
We don’t have a pet but 2 arty souls. We have a lot of creative ideas and grow up with a hospitality culture.
Other Things to Note
We have two rooms rent out in this property, the other room is a en-suit occupied by my friend Evaldas who works as training manager at Travel Lodge; he is very friendly and often give me ideas on how to improve the bnb to make guests feel more comfortable.
I'm a piano & violin teacher with master degree in music, you might occasionally see my little students coming for lessons.
I stayed with Kiki last year, so when I found out I was to visit Birmingham again this year I immediately booked to stay again.
I received a very warm welcome, and had yet another very comfortable stay. Good wifi, and a fantastic shower, lovely people and a five minute walk to the centre of the city. What more could you ask for?
I will definitely book another stay with Kiki if I wind up visiting Birmingham again.
I booked the room for my son to spend his coach weekend in Birmingham. Kiki was away but she left clear instructions for my son to find his way there from the train station and for her partner to meet my son from the pub next door. My son reported that his host was very helpful in showing him the flat and the way around the city. The flat was clean and tidy and comfortable. My son said he doesn't mind staying there again.
I couldn't fault our experience of staying at Kiki's place. We were after a comfortable room within walking distance of the NIA as we were going to a concert and this ticked both boxes. Sadly we didn't get to meet Kiki as she was overseas. The bonus was that Kiki's partner Rafal was a great host and was extremely accommodating with our arrival and departure timings, especially as they changed the day before but it was no problem. We were also able to park our car in the block's secure courtyard. Rafal gave us a glass of red wine as we saw evidence of both his and Kiki's talents; Rafal is a professional photographer and Kiki is a concert violinist of the highest standard. Overall I would have no hesitation to recommending this place and I will definitely be coming back to stay if I go to any more concerts. Thank you Rafal and Kiki! :)
Pleasant room in great location in Central Birmingham. It is very near the railway station, and concert halls, theatres etc. Friendly welcome from Kiki's partner. Does the business for a central stay.
Had a very comfy stay at the flat, with secure parking and a short walk to all the delights of Birmingham. Close to the mailbox for a bit of socialising too . Thanks!
Thank you so much. The location was ideal for getting in and out of the city centre. You guys were very welcoming and helpful. I would definitely stay again when I am next visiting Birmingham. The apartment was clean and tidy and they didn't mind me using their kitchen to cook in. Thanks again. Jenny
Kiki is a lovely, friendly and welcoming host, who made us feel extremely welcome. She was very polite and made sure we were settled in to a very pleasant and comfortable room, while also being helpful and interested in making sure we had a good stay in Birmingham. I would be more than happy to stay with Kiki in future.
I am from Taipei, capital of Taiwan. My career was set to be a musician since I was 4. I have travelled to many places while on tour or on holiday, places like New york, Washington DC, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Canada, South African, Amsterdam, Paris,Turkey, Hong Kong, Japen, Macau.. I know a good stay makes a huge difference to the trip and feels completely different after a tiring day..
Also living here is my partner; he has good general knowledge, chatting, helpful and very easy to talk to.
