Joanne is an extremely professional and super sweet host that allowed myself and my dog to stay while we were vacationing for the few days.
She'd made sure that I was in-and-out of the apartment, smoothly, and allowed me to store my backpack in her closet after check out and before my flight back home.
The apartment was super spacious for myself and Bauer (my Frenchie) to run around in circles in; to which was a lot of fun.
The laundry place downstairs is clutch; just swipe your debit/credit card and it starts either the washing or drying machine.
The gym is well-equipped and the location of the apartment is next to the red line off Morse, so that made it super convenient for me to get to the airport and downtown.
Last but never the least: I was of walking distance to Loyola Park.
Would definitely recommend her place for anyone wanting to visit Chicago. :)
the neighborhood was absolutely amazing, very convenient as far has transportation is concerned. The place was clean and very fashionable. Very close to a grocery store, the red line, which runs 24 hours, down the street from the beach. it's a very prime Location.. Highly recommend it.
I had both productive and unproductive conversations with the host, Joanne. I read all the previous comments about her and her airbnb unit and saw a pattern that concerned me. When a commenter made a negative statement after staying at her place, Joanne would reply that they should have called her first instead of leaving comments after the fact. Frankly, they may have done both. I did. And Joanne came unglued and lost her friendly demeanor.
It was about toilet paper. I arrived to find that for a week’s stay, I had all of a third of a roll of toilet paper, so I looked all over the apartment, found none, walked down the street and bought some. When I told this to her a day or so later, she insisted that it must have been there all the time and/or that I was lying, and why, she asked, didn’t I tell her right away? Because, I said, I was more interested in HAVING toilet paper than in informing her I’d been without it.
The neighborhood: it is great--and you might want to check out another airbnb on Greenleaf, also in this neighborhood, which I heard rave reviews about.
The host canceled this reservation 24 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
The apartment was as described in the listing, just not as new as in the photos. Although it is lived in, it was very clean, and Joanne was very accommodating and welcoming. The only issues we had is that there could have been a few minor changes to make the stay MUCH better- the A/C unit was broken, only 1 small mirror and pan for cooking, and large wood scraps left in the living room. The building is very secure, and the laundry room/lobby/gym were all clean and convenient. It's located in a great little neighborhood in the nice part of Rogers Park. There are lots of stores & restaurants nearby. I live in nearby Evanston and know the area well. My family was visiting for my graduation and I booked this for them because of the location. The biggest plus is that the building is literally steps away from the Morse L Red Line stop. You can get to Evanston quickly in our case, and to anywhere in Chicago very easily. Also, we were very grateful that Joanne allowed dogs. The property itself has a dog run and the lake is nearby. Overall a very nice stay and Joanne was VERY helpful and responsive to any questions we had!
Location was great! It was right next to the redline and had a great pub next to it (626 I think?). I wasn't thrilled about the state of the apartment. It was mostly clean, but there were personal items everywhere and the baseboards were very dirty. The air conditioner worked but couldn't be adjusted because it was beat up (on very high or off). Overall, we're happy with the stay, but we've had better Airbnb experiences since. The host was very nice.
Joanne was great. I didn't get to meet her but she was very helpful in getting me checked in. Her place was clean and comfortable. The location was great. Very safe neighborhood and close to restaurants. I wish I could have stayed longer!!
