The apartment was as described in the listing, just not as new as in the photos. Although it is lived in, it was very clean, and Joanne was very accommodating and welcoming. The only issues we had is that there could have been a few minor changes to make the stay MUCH better- the A/C unit was broken, only 1 small mirror and pan for cooking, and large wood scraps left in the living room. The building is very secure, and the laundry room/lobby/gym were all clean and convenient. It's located in a great little neighborhood in the nice part of Rogers Park. There are lots of stores & restaurants nearby. I live in nearby Evanston and know the area well. My family was visiting for my graduation and I booked this for them because of the location. The biggest plus is that the building is literally steps away from the Morse L Red Line stop. You can get to Evanston quickly in our case, and to anywhere in Chicago very easily. Also, we were very grateful that Joanne allowed dogs. The property itself has a dog run and the lake is nearby. Overall a very nice stay and Joanne was VERY helpful and responsive to any questions we had!
Location was great! It was right next to the redline and had a great pub next to it (626 I think?). I wasn't thrilled about the state of the apartment. It was mostly clean, but there were personal items everywhere and the baseboards were very dirty. The air conditioner worked but couldn't be adjusted because it was beat up (on very high or off). Overall, we're happy with the stay, but we've had better Airbnb experiences since. The host was very nice.
Joanne was a great, non-intrusive host. She was available if needed and checked in to see if everything was ok. The neighborhood has a lot of character (mostly old brick apartment buildings and wooden homes and a lot of trees) and is one of the most diverse (if not the most diverse) in Chicago. There is a city bike share station ($7 for 24 hours for unlimited short trips) outside the front door and the El is steps away. The apartment is comfortable and the coffeemaker got me going every morning.
Joanne was a very diligent host. She answered all of our questions and made sure that we would easily be able to get in touch with her if we needed anything else. The apartment was clean and in a nice location. Our only complaints would be that parking was difficult to find, and the bed was very firm. Overall, though, we had a very nice trip, and would stay here again if we came back to Chicago.
Joanne Lee's place was lovely! It's literally right next to the Red Line stop, so getting around is super easy! She was very attentive and responsive to messages. Her apartment is lovely and had everything I needed. The neighborhood is nice and safe and there are shops and restaurants nearby. Plus, the lake is less than a 10 minute walk away. I had a great stay! :)
