The Space

I'm a med student looking to rent out an extra room in a 3-bedroom apartment located on the second floor of Angelo's Restaurant. Each room has a keypad lock for your privacy. There is also a big kitchen and one shared bathroom. If interested in renting out more than one room at the same time, see my other listings.

The apartment is located across the street from the University of Michigan Hospital and U of M Medical School. Also a 5 minute walk to central campus, 10 minute walk to downtown Ann Arbor (Main street area). And also located across the street from all the major bus lines. The location doesn't get much better than this.

Room includes:
- Queen-sized bed with clean sheets and towels
- HDTV with Netflix
- Desk
- Very fast Wireless Internet
- Window A/C (summer) or space heater (winter)
- Room's door has a keypad lock for security

The room is also available for longer term stays. Just send me a message for more information!

PS - In the photos you will see three rooms. You will be renting out only one of the rooms, whichever one is available. All rooms are very similar and come with the same amenities. See my other listings if you're interested in renting out more than one room. The rooms are very nice and include everything you need!

  • Actually ended up staying at Reda's other listing at the last minute at my own request. We needed an extra room at the last minute for another friend and Reda quickly and kindly shifted things around and got the other listing ready. While we didn't get the chance to interact much since we were in town for a wedding, he was very nice and responsive and offered to make any suggestions if we had questions about the area. Great place to stay and will stay here again if returning to the ann arbor area.

  • Reda was an excellent host. He was flexible with me in when I could check out and in. I didn't even see him and was quick to respond to any concerns. The place was fine, everything that I could need. The bed was great, kitchen and bathroom were fine. A bit pricey but that's just the cost of living in Ann Arbor!

  • My husband and I were visiting Ann Arbor during graduation weekend, and our daughter found Reda's Airbnb apartment for us. This was our first Airbnb experience and we didn't know what to expect, but we were completely happy with everything about it. Our room was sunny and light, and featured a brand new dual comfort bed (left side is soft/right side is extra firm). This was MUCH appreciated by us both. Anyone with a bad back will be very comfortable on this bed. There were other residents sharing the bathroom and kitchen, but while we occasionally heard them, we never actually saw them. Our timing of comings and goings were all slightly different, which made for easy sharing of the facilities. Happily, the bathroom and kitchen were spotlessly clean, day after day. Having the large kitchen nearby was great and very convenient. Also convenient is Angelo's, a popular breakfast restaurant on the first floor. Thank you so much, Reda, for your thoughtfulness and for such a nice stay!

  • Reda was a great host. He and her fantastic girlfriend Sarah made me feel really at home. They satisfied all my needs and were always very warm and available for me. I'd like to strongly reccomend you this experience in Ann Arbor. The house was cozy and well furnished, absolutely perfect for its central location a few steps away from the campus and from the main roads of the city. Thanks Reda.

  • Ideal location for those wanting access to the medical campus and to downtown Ann Arbor. Reda was friendly and courteous, and always available for any questions I had.

  • I didn't run into Reda while I was staying at his place, but communication was perfect and I found everything just as he described it. I found the place really cosy, the room is very spacious, there's a nice kitchen and bathroom.

A small issue is that there is no possibility to do laundry in the house, but Reda did offer to drive me to nearby places to do laundry.

The house is located very well for the Central Campus and even better for medicine-related studies. I would stay here again!

  • Reda has a great apartment just minutes from central campus. The room is clean and comfortable. We had no problems finding the apartment and getting inside with the keycode. I recommend Reda's place, it's good value for the money and hope to stay there again.

  • Reda is a fantastic host and his place is unbelievably convenient! Don't spend the extra money staying at the hotels. Come to Reda's place above Angelo's, which is minutes away (walking) from most places in Ann Arbor. Reda even gave me a ride from the Central Campus Transit stop to his place, how nice! He was also very communicative and was always willing to accomodate any of my questions/needs. He's rented his place out so many times that he knows exactly what you need and how to deliver it. The place is right above Angelo's, a locally renowned breakfast/brunch spot that you should be sure to try! 100% recommend Reda's spot, you won't regret it!

  • The place was really not as expected, and certainly not worth what I paid for it. While Reda was exceedingly nice, the entire apartment smelled like something had gone rotten in the kitchen. The first room he put me in was cold, there was a ton of street noise, and the radiator made noises so loud and abrupt that I would have woken up every 15 minutes. While he was very accommodating in helping me to change to the other room, the initial impression was such that I almost started crying.
Overall, it was not a comfortable environment, I did not sleep well, and I would like to warn other potential renters about it.
I feel badly leaving a bad review for someone who was so kind and accommodating, but I really think this was vastly overpriced and I wanted to protect other travelers.

  • Reda was great communicating re: logistics and this allowed me to arrive and enter his apartment at a time that suited my schedule. I happen to put a premium on getting a good night's sleep and for me this requires a firm or at the very least, a decent mattress. Reda's mattress was sunken down the center, and felt like a hammock. Though his place was central and he was courteous and helpful with his emails and phone messages, I considered leaving in the middle of the night and heading to a hotel.

    Response from Reda:

Hey Gali, sorry to hear that it was uncomfortable. That was actually the first time I heard a complaint about the mattress. The mattress you slept on is actually only a few months old and was bought brand new. Maybe it was just time to rotate it around or turn it over -- I'll make sure to do that. If you had let me known I would provided extra support for the mattress to make it more firm. There is a memory foam mattress topper located next to the clean linens.

About
I am a 4th year med student in the MD/MSCR/MBA program at the University of Michigan (Class of 2014). I also went to U of M for undergrad, so I've lived in Ann Arbor for a long time. I'm interested in healthcare entrepreneurship, digital health, and mobile medicine. I have been on Airbnb since 2011, and I have had the pleasure of hosting some of the most unique and interesting people I've ever met. Fun facts about myself: I have attended over 300 live stand-up comedy shows, and Louis CK is my favorite comedian.
