The space

We're Maya and Dipak: a couple that united in love marriage long before that became common in Nepal which resulted in two clever daughters: Samu (19 yrs) and Safal (16 yrs). Dipak works as a journalist in Nepal and Maya has a freelance job in insurance. 15 years ago we made a Belgian friend and knew that we love to host people, interact with people and give them good hospitality, now we have a lot of friends from all over the world who stay in our home when they come to Kathmandu. We also visited them in Europe and now we are really enjoying the interaction with visitors. Our motto is to host our guests as a Nepali family. We are always ready to serve you Nepali food on nominal price. You can cook your food, if you want to learn we are happy to teach Nepali cooking. We can fix up to four people comfortably.

Guest access

It is two minutes walk from Ring-road of Kathmandu from where you can access to any places in public vehicles. The place name is Basundhara Chauki near to Thamel tourist hub. You can see mountains form the roof top. Big balcony and roof top always to serve you. 24 hours access of free wifi, hot and cold water.

Interaction with guests

We are good listeners and of course we have lots stories to share, Nepali culture, history, family, experiences with different visitors, trekking and travel experiences around the country and India. If you want to be in peace and quiet that is always welcomed. Dipak is more than happy to teach you meditation and yoga on requests. We live in the same home.

Other things to note

It is Nepali home with friendly people. We can give you tour around Kathmandu and help making your travel itinerary. We have done lots of trekking around Nepal. We can give you proper suggestions and help you on finding porter, guide, permit and tickets.

Maya and Dipak were the perfect hosts during my time in Nepal. I found their communication to be top notch. They were very flexible around my constantly changing needs. In addition their hospitality was incredible and I truly felt like I was a part of their family. They are very knowledgeable about Nepal both from the perspective of locals as well as from the perspective of visitors given the large number of people they have met. Breakfast and dinner were also very tasty and filling. All the amenities listed on their AirBnB page were available, e.g. WiFi, toiletries. I highly recommend their home to anyone who is visiting Nepal, whether for leisure or for work.

Staying with Maya and Dipak was a true pleasure. While it might be pricier than some smaller lodges, it is worth the value for the privacy of amenities and the approachability of the hosts. They took me in as their own family and as a first time solo traveller, this was indeed an excellent place to be in. I stayed for about 2 months and not once did I regret moving in here. While you should check the distance from your main places of travel, Maya will share with you a lot of the short cuts to take and mainly, how to travel like a true local (I mean if you come here and don't take a local bus, what is the fun right?) Apart from that, they invited me down for dinner when I missed mine, included me in games the family played together and even shared stories of work, school and travel which was really wonderful. Get to know the whole family and they are really sweet :D IF you want to be a part of their family time, you're welcome. If you would rather stay by yourself, they wouldnt disturb you either - it's that flexible :) They have a lot of local network and would allow you to tap on them for ease of finding out new things. Overall, I would recommend staying here long term or short term. The beds are comfy, the shower is great and the people (most importantly) are really nice!

For 2 nights we stayed at Maya's and Dipak's house. They are a lovely family who made us feel welcome from the moment we stepped through the door. They are always in for a chat, offer great food and are happy to give tips about Kathmandu. The room is nice and the bathroom has everything needed. Just be aware that sometimes the nearby police school practice their music instruments, but you will get used to it.

Maya and Dipak and their daughters are a lovely family. We had a great stay with them. We felt like home right after we arrived at their place. They thought us a lot about nepali life and culture. Maya`s cooking is very good and she also prepare breakfast for us. Maya helped us to organize taxis, where to go or what to do, she has a lot of good travel tipps for us. She also saved the birthday of my girlfriend with a birthday cake as a surprise. We can highly recommend their place to everyone. We would definitely love to stay again with them when we come back to Nepal. You are great hosts. Thank you so much! :-)

Staying at Maya and Dipak's home was a breath of fresh air. It's a beautiful home and a beautiful family. Maya and Dipak taught us a lot about Nepali culture and went out of their way to help us figure out transportation, provide delicious tea and food, and a very comfortable home stay experience. There's good wifi and the bed was very cozy and comfy!

Maya and Dipak have a lovely home and a lovely welcoming family. After a long journey their house was exactly what was needed for some good rest and relaxation. Maya's cooking is first class and she was more than happy to cater to the needs of my husband and I who are both vegan. The location is really good. It's a descent walk to Thamel but an interesting one. It's in a very calm area and that's a real bonus after a day or two walking around the city centre. Hot showers, fast wifi, clean and comfortable beds. What more could you ask for. We would like to praise Maya and Dipak on running such a lovely Airbnb and making us feel so welcome in their home. Staying here again for us would be a very easy decision to make.

Very nice journey at Dipak and Maya's place, very quiet (except the first morning due to music school rehearsal), otherwise we really enjoyed our 3 days there. Maya and her two daughters (Dipak was in business travel) joined us during these days, explained a lot about Nepal, culture, political situation, traditions, etc... We learned how to cook the national meals (Dal bhat and mo:mo:) and we really enjoyed playing cards as well. We visited Kathmandu with them also and they arranged the taxi twice for us. The room and bathroom are comfortable, we were alone at the floor. To make it short, we appreciate being there and recommend Dipak and Maya's place. Thanks again for everything ! Mica and Aline.
