Corinne was super responsive and the place was great. Everything from the heated floors to the hot-tub made this a very comfy place to spend a weekend. The 12" of fresh pow at Kirkwood didn't hurt either :-)
Great house! It had everything we wanted and more. Big place with a beautiful kitchen and master bedroom. Corinne was responsive. The only down was the laundry list of cleaning to be taken care of before leaving even when you pay for a cleaning fee.
Thanks for your response. Our "leaving the house" instructions (dishes in dishwasher, beds stripped, heat turned down) are based on the rule of thumb for most rentals in Tahoe. We think that taking those few moments to insure our house is left in a respectable and safe condition is time that most responsible adults will not mind spending.
We had a fabulous stay at this beautiful, very well appointed cabin. Great location, too! We'll be back for sure.
We do this trip annually with our friends and the value you get in this home is definitely worth it, and it has made it into my Top 10 list for further rentals in South Lake Tahoe. The house is very beautiful and comfortable and exactly what we were looking for. We loved our stay. We were looking for snow on Christmas and found it without having to put on chains or go over passes. Lots of activities and amenities close by, but it also feels quiet and away from it all. It was a wonderful stay and we will be back.
Cabin was very nice as depicted. This is our 7th year renting cabins in Tahoe and first time using airbnb and never had problems before with hosts until this time. Upon leaving, the instructions on how to leave/clean the cabin were unclear. We looked through the binder and did not find anything besides a one page listing 6-7 items about turning off lights/heaters, closing doors etc and so we weren't sure how much we were responsible for cleaning. We ended up getting a notice from the host that the place was not up to her standards and we were verbally insulted and attacked by the host, such as "please don't insult my intelligence," which was very unprofessional and unpleasant.
When we asked for pictures, she did not provide any. She claimed that we left trash everywhere (all the trash was in containers; maybe she wanted us to take out the trash? Again, not sure due to instructions), dishes in the sink (dishwasher was full, we started a full load before leaving but couldn't fit all of it and also not sure if we were even supposed to clean dishes). She claimed that the spa had "stuff" in it, but also did not have any pictures and we were all clean before using it and did not leave any trash in it or the surroundings. Maybe spa water needs to be replaced occasionally? People do sweat in them don't they? I don't know....I'm not a spa owner, but kind of gross to think about how many people have used the water before we did if she wanted to charge us for replacing the water.
I guess in the end it might have been just due to a miscommunication with regards to the instructions. We're very familiar with renting cabins and have always had good relations with owners, if instructions were clear and available. Had there been more than just that one sheet (in hindsight, I wish I had taken a picture of it), none of these altercations would have occurred.
Brian, I truly do not understand how you feel this way. I did not see my house after you left it but I have had the same people cleaning it for 3 years and I have to believe them when they say it required extra help to clean it...and this is the first time I have ever gotten this response from them (I am just as upset as you that they just started cleaning and did not take photos). Also, I had to call a professional spa company to come out on Saturday and, at their discretion, tell me what needed to be done. They said my hot tub had to be drained (AIRBNB has copy of this invoice with this statement ). Also, for your information, I have a professional Spa Company maintain my hot tub twice a month along with detailed instructions for guests.
Below is excerpt from my instruction book that you stated you read and just misquoted ( I sent AIRBNB the entire book along with spa instructions and invoices from cleaning company and spa company).
BEFORE YOU LEAVE
All occupants must vacate by 12 noon unless otherwise agreed upon by management.
Strip beds and pile dirty linens and towels on the floor in the laundry room. We’d REALLY appreciate it if you would start one load of linens before you leave. This helps us TREMENDOUSLY when there are same-day check ins.
Dishes, pots and pans and utensils must be clean and put away or if in dishwasher it must be turned on.
Appliances and work surfaces in the kitchen must be clean, refrigerator emptied of any perishable items.
All trash cans must be emptied and trash put in cans in garage; OR, help us keep Tahoe blue by taking your trash with you (especially recyclables). Make sure raw trash is sealed in plastic bags (under kitchen sink) so that animals are not attracted.
Turn temperature in hot tub back to 90 degrees.
BBQ grill must be scraped clean.
I believe that my book did in fact cover the issues that we had (specifically, dishes, trash, counter tops).
What I didn't address in my instructions as I assumed any adult would not do was to move my furniture and leave it, leave my bedding and lamps on the floor in various rooms upstairs and downstairs and not wiping up spills when you spilled them all over the house. Would you really think that is the way a responsible adult would leave anyone's home?
Setting up the stay was very easy. Self-check in on the day of arrival with no hitches. Beautiful property. Had a very relaxing vacation.
Corinne's cabin is beautiful. She did an awesome job of mixing modern luxuries while maintaining the warm cabin feel. Corinne was very helpful when we needed anything. The kitchen had everything we needed to make a nice thanksgiving dinner for the family. We would definitely stay here again.
My name is Corinne and this is my personal home. I like to travel during the winter to warmer climates and leave the snow for you to enjoy. Rebecca is my neighbor and also rents out her house next door. She was doing such a wonderful professional job with it that i asked her to handle mine for me.
Please enjoy your stay in my beautiful home. All I ask is for you to respect it as if it were your own.
