Sunny Private room with Wood Floor.

Apartment - Private room · Starr Street, Brooklyn, NY 11237, United States

Lots of sunlight, wood flrs and a beautiful exposed brick wall. This is a smaller room which comfortably fits 2 ppl. It's in the front of the house so it's very private although there may be some minimal street noise.

The Space

- We are located on the same block as the Jefferson stop on the L Train. This train takes us directly to Untion Square in exactly 14min. In our area there is nothing as new, clean, close to the train, and close to the most amazing shops and bars in our neighborhood.
- This upstairs bedroom has direct light and exposed brick. It's the perfect size for a single person or a couple.
- And depending upon request we can offer the entire apartment, all 4 rooms at the same time depending on the intended length of your stay. You could easily house 4 couples in this configuration and maybe a 9th and 10th person on our air mattress!

-All of the rooms are totally private with locking doors.
-We have 1.5 bathrooms. Full bathroom upstairs, half is downstairs.
-Exposed Brick and Hardwood floors.
- Very comfortable beds. Fresh Linens and Towels.
- Coffee and snacks every morning.

There are two other rooms with potential availability in our home. So if you're traveling in a group make sure to look at all of our listings.

Interaction with Guests

Erica and Jorel will be here during your stay. We will totally be available for you, to help you understand the city. You can text, call, or email us anytime. And depending on what you're looking to experience, Erica or Jorel will have recommendations.

There is a backyard with a fire pit/BBQ with access through Jorel or Erica's rooms. We'll be happy to let you out there when we're home, or you can join us when we BBQ!

Erica also has a car, so depending on her availability she'll take you to and from airports for a fraction of what a cab would cost. Just ask her about it ahead of time.

We highly recommend shooting us an email to tell us when you are hoping to stay with us, and we can give you an immediate idea of all the possibilities. Plus the third room could always be available if Jorel is going away so write to us anytime to say hello, and we'll answer any questions:

The Neighborhood

A flourishing artist community has existed in Bushwick for decades and has now become one of the most lively art communities in New York City. Dozens of art studios and galleries are scattered throughout the neighborhood along with countless music venues, bars and restaurants. There are several open studios programs that help the public visit artist studios and galleries and a number of websites dedicated to promoting neighborhood art and events.

Some restaurants, music venues, and bars we love:
Tortilleria Mexicana Los Hermanos
Roberta's Pizza
Northeast Kingdom
Radio Bushwick
Heavy Woods
Silent Barn
Secret Project Robot
The Loom
Low Brow Artique
The Living Gallery
House of Yes
Eastern District
English Kills Art Gallery
The Cobra Club
Goodbye Blue Monday
Momo Shushi Shack
Dear Bushwick
El Mio Cid
Café Ghia

Getting around

Again...Yes, the L train is conveniently located ON OUR BLOCK.
The train makes commuting very easy into other neighborhoods:
- 8-10 minutes from Williamsburg
- 13 minutes to the East Village
- 15 minutes to Union Square (Holiday Market and shopping)
- 35 minutes to Rockefeller Center (ice skating, christmas tree)
- 40 minutes away from Central Park

From JFK:
- Subway: Take the ACE line and transfer to the L train.

From LaGuardia:
- Mass transit is tricky, we suggest a fairly inexpensive yellowcab ride (about $30 with tip, depending on traffic) to our place.

Other Things to Note

We do have 2 cats that mostly stay in Erica's Room. And from time to time Jorel has a beautiful, loving dog that also mostly stays in his room. But the dog is only in the apartment about 10 days out of each month.

The Rental rooms never have any pets in them, so you most likely won't even know they are here.

There is free street parking on our block, yoga, Indian Food, 3 great bars and a 24 hour gormet food store around the corner!

Check In
  • We had an absolutely great time at Erica's and Jorel's place. The room was clean and nice, fresh towels und an amazing bathroom. Erica is very communicative, hospital and courteous. She even booked some events for us and helped us planing our stay in NY. The house is very close to the L-Train, which makes the location very comfortable as starting point of manhattan-trips. Highly recommended!!!!

  • We had a lovely time staying with Erica, she was really friendly and helpful giving us advice on the local area and even greeted us with a steaming bowl of soup on our arrival which was much appreciated! If you stay you must check out craft beer bar 'the sampler' and the Mexican restaurant down the road. The apartment is clean, well equipped with excellent bathroom and kitchen facilities which we felt more than comfortable using. All in all, marvellous, will definitely stay again just as soon as I can get the air fare...

  • We met only Erica and we were very well treated! Room was totally ok, also bathroom, kitchen, cleanliness, everything ok. We got good suggestions and advice, were treated with home made muffins and soup, got to play with beautiful cats and played a little violin with Erica. She is very friendly, sociable and has great energy and vibes. Would definitely come back! Neighbourhood is Bushwick style, mixed with hip cafées, restaurants and with local places. Not as hip and totally gentrified as Williamsburg. Yoga places just nearby, also nice cafées and restaurants. Very very close to L-train which was very convenient!

  • Had a wonderful stay at Erica and Jorel's! Very easy to get to as the description to proximity to the train was accurate. Place is near good food, too. The room that was available to me was street-level so there was noise but it was winter and minimal so I didn't mind it. The room comfortably fits one person and has two large windows so it was a bit cold. But Erica had thick comforters out so I was warm in bed. Large bathroom and good sized common area! Building entrance requires a code so that meant extra security. Erica was very sweet to answer any questions about the area and even helped with a personal request. The only minor setback was the breaker had to be reset a number of times, which I didn't mind doing. There was another guest in another room so perhaps the breaker couldn't handle the increased load. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and will definitely come back if they're available!

  • Erica was great. My flight was delayed and as a result I didn't arrive until after midnight, but Erica was very accommodating and understanding. The room was exactly as advertised, the hosts were lovely--I'd definitely stay with Erica and Jorel again.

  • Went for the weekend with my fiance and had a very nice experience. Erica greeted us when we arrived and gave us a quick tour of the apartment and a run down of some nice local spots. Great location and adorable apartment! Room was clean and quiet and very close to the bathroom. Room was comfortably warm and we did not need to use the little space heater they provided. I did not have any of the muffins but my fiance did and enjoyed them. I was also pleased to meet a very adorable cat sleeping on one of the chairs! Would certainly stay again in the future!

  • We had a great time at Erica and Jorels place. They are both very nice, helpful and fun to talk to. The apartment is amazing; very clean and cozy. And especially warm, which was nice as it was snowing, while we were there. It is located in a cool neighbourhood with good and cheap places to eat at. The next metro stop is just down the road and it is only a 20-minute ride to Manhatten. we would definately stay there again! :)

  • This was my first experience of staying with Airbnb, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I arrived at Erica's. But I shouldn't have worried because, despite the temperature outside - which was about minus 8 degrees Celsius - I had a warm welcome. Erica kindly took me on a quick tour of the neighbourhood to point out the subway (where she also helped me organise my Metrocard - which was very useful for this elderly visitor from overseas) and some of the local shops and good places to eat and drink nearby. I subsequently ate twice at the Tortilleria Mexicana Los Hermanos at 271 Starr St, which was my first experience of Mexican food: it was delicious - and a bargain.
As for the bnb itself it was fine: the room was warm, the bed was very comfortable, and there was plenty of storage space. The bathroom was close by and was very clean, with an excellent shower. Erica was a friendly and helpful hostess.
I stayed four nights in Starr Street, using it mainly as a dormitory because I spent my days in Manhattan. Getting to the city was very easy, with the L line being so close. So, all in all, I would definitely recommend it as being both good value and an interesting experience.

  • Convenient to subway. Nice neighborhood in Williamsburg. Beautiful apartment building. The room was clean, the bed and linens very comfy, and the temperature perfect on a bone chilling weekend in NY. Hosts E & J were very nice.
