Ed's place is epic! Excellent location, clean, comfortable, and roomy. We will definitely be staying there again.
This was the perfect place for us to stay during our 12 days in SF. We were four people sharing the cottage, and it really exceeded our expectations. Neighbourhood is nice and safe, close to many restaurants, grocery store and public transport. Everything was very clean, It was great to have two bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen. We had everything we needed: wifi, cable tv, mexican food close by and comfy beds. Ed is a great guy and made us feel very welcome. We would recommend this for anyone visiting SF.
We had a wonderful time in this cottage. The location was fantastic, the cottage itself was everything we wanted, needed & expected, & the host was as helpful & available as possible. We would highly recommend it to anyone, & will definitely stay again if we're back in San Francisco.
Our host Ed was lovely, smiley and welcoming, with lots of ideas and good recommendations for things to see, do, eat and drink! The cottage was everything we hoped it would be from the listing; quiet, comfortable and well-appointed, it had everything we needed. Ed was really friendly and helpful while at the same time respecting our privacy.
Noe Valley is a nice neighbourhood and the cottage is super-convenient for public transport, (our seven day passes were really good value at $28, including all routes except for the BART) and also well-placed for walking - we enjoyed going up through Glen Canyon to Diamond Heights for a view of the city on our first day, and spent some happy hours exploring the bookshops, vintage clothes shops and coffee houses of Mission and Valencia, and Castro. Walking to the city centre took us 30-40 minutes.
My husband, six month old son, and I stayed in Ed's cottage for four months. It was our first time traveling with a baby so we were anxious about many things, but Ed and his property really put us at ease. There is possibly no landlord more amicable or more willing to help out than Ed! What a pleasure he was at every turn. We didn't end up needing much so we had our privacy, but when we crossed paths with Ed it was a welcome part of our stay.
The property itself is perfect for families, especially if you are dealing with strollers or other baby/kid gear because there are no stairs involved in getting to the entrance. This is not so easy to find in San Francisco! There are, of course, stairs inside but none from the street to the cottage door. We actually just stored our stroller in the enclosed hallway that leads from the street back to the cottage which was a nice space saver. The cottage is back behind the main house so we never had any issues at all with street or train noise. If you want to use public transportation, there is a train stop right outside the door. We opted to rent a car for the duration of our stay and rarely had trouble finding parking (no permit needed) nearby. The small courtyard was a nice addition, and there is a very nice grill available for your use.
The cottage is very well stocked with kitchenwares, towels, cleaning supplies, extra linens, shampoo, and paper products to get you started. The furniture is comfortable as well. We slept great on the bed in the main bedroom, and Ed had a pack n play for the baby to sleep in set up in the other room. The property is conveniently located to grocery shopping and other shops on foot; additionally, 24th Street is just about a 15 minute walk. All the shops and restaurants you could need, as well as a Whole Foods. There is also a playground/rec center just a block away.
I really have nothing negative to say. The ONLY downside at all I could come up with is something that is usually looked upon as a positive: the floors are all some variation of hard wood or laminate. So if you have a baby trying to crawl or starting to walk, there isn't any rug or carpeting for them to safely stumble on. We bought a small rug to set up our son's play area, and for his age that was just enough.
We loved our time there and would recommend it highly. Great property in a fabulous neighborhood and an even greater host!
Sunny & I (Ed) are married with two active boys. We work in San Francisco. Our boys go to a neighborhood school. I am construction contractor in the city and Sunny is a CPA / finance consultant. When we are not shuttling our boys to swim meets, wrestling practice and music lessons, we enjoy entertaining with our friends and families, skiing, and enjoying the outdoors.
