The space

Habitation l’Oiseau is a charming authentic colonial style plantation home which dates back to 1916.
It is located at the entrance of the Grande-Rivière Valley. Further up another exceptional site, La Grivelière Coffee Plantation is only a few miles away.
It is a perfect starting point to visit Guadeloupe’s Leeward coast, and it is also the right place to enjoy doing just nothing.
The environment is ideal for anyone who wishes to stay away from mass-tourism and enjoy the surrounding rainforest as well as the nearby National Park with its wide range of hiking trails and outdoor sports facilities.
The luxurious 5-acre park where you can admire tropical fruit trees, plants and flowers is refreshed by the crystal clear Grande Rivière where you’ll be able to enjoy refreshing baths.
The sea is not far away and a variety of seaside restaurants offer the opportunity to discover our delicious local cuisine.
The main town, Basse-Terre, with its shops and a colorful fruit market is only a 15-minute ride to the South.
To the North, the village of Bouillante with its “ Reserve Cousteau” displays its outstanding variety of fish and coral reef for snorkeling and scuba diving situated on a black sand beach ideal for children.
Don't forget to take an evening bath at the "Thomas" thermal springs under the moonlight.

My wife and I had a fabulous week at l'Habitation l'Oiseau! From our (somewhat European/international) perspective, it was the perfect vacation getaway: simple, quiet, charming, and filled with unexpected delights. The former coffee plantation house has the open-air, Caribbean…

Evelyne is amazing. I couldn't imagine a better host, or a nicer place to stay. She looked out for us, cooked for us, and really made us feel as if we were part of her family. We look forward to going back very soon. And don't miss a dip in the river!

Evelyne met us with a wonderful warm welcome that continued for all the time that we were with her. The plantation house is absolutely amazing and has been in her family for 3 generations. There is a wonderful warm atmosphere in the house, which had a very homely feel about it. …

Gorgeous old house in a quiet area with beautiful landscapes! We had a good night sleep and enjoyed Evelyn's French breakfast with fresh fruits in the morning. Communication was tricky since our French is quite rusty. However, highly recommended. Don't forget to make reservations…
