This is one of the premier tourist destinations in Costa Rica. At our 2000 ft elevation you have a view of the Pacific Ocean and the Diamante Waterfall. The main attractions are the rivers and waterfalls and the springlike weather year round. You escape the humidity and bugs on the coast and yet you have access to the beach within 30/45 min. It is a safe place to stay. You will not have to worry about your possessions while you explore the fabulous surroundings unspoiled by massive developers. Plenty of wildlife, and crystal clear mountain springs feeding the numerous rivers and streams. There is a bar/restaurant here in the valley if you wish to socialize with local residents and the numerous tourists that frequent the area. Tinamaste has a couple of places to eat or you may choose to drive to the beach and sample one of the many restaurants within an easy drive of our place. The Diamante waterfall is 365 meters tall, with 4 visible cascades and is absolutely breathtaking with a steady roar of water to comfort you at night while you sleep. Most of the residents of this valley are personable and friendly. A large mix of many nationalities and natives give the area an international feel and is one of the primary reasons we selected this area ourselves. Crime here is very low and any destination you select here in the valley or beach will be worry free and usually private unless its the high season when we get numerous visitors.
Parking for cars provided
Public Buses run to Tinamaste from Dominical or San Isidro
Rental Cars available in Quepos, Uvita, and San Jose, Liberia
Most rental cars come with a GPS so you set it for Dominical Puntareas and we will come down the mountain to greet you and lead you to the house. It is only 5 turns from SJO airport, so pretty easy to drive to.
Other Things to Note
ATV Tours available
Smoking allowed on the grounds. Small pets OK.
Beaches are deserted, people are friendly and there are many with surprises such as this one in Ventanas.
Unbelievable. Very warm people, they made us feel at home. Great company, awesome food, and amazing experience. Really, words are not enough to express how much we enjoyed our stay.
We had a wonderful experience at Bill and Terry's. They have a beautiful home and accommodations exceeded our expectations. The views from their home were amazing, seeing all types of wildlife (Toucans included!) and they both shared in cooking us excellent meals, sharing great stories of the area, things to do and the culture...They were the perfect hosts and we can't wait to go back.
It was an absolutely beautiful time by Terry & Bill! The location is very peaceful, far away from daily hassle, where the neighbours are almost only colibris & tucans and sometime cows :) Every morning we had a grandiose breakfast (pancakes, bacos, eggs, smoothies, exotic fruits and costa rican coffee) with an option to sit outside and enjoy the waterfall views or the hills/ocean views on the other side. The guest house was very lovely with a hammack on the terrace, nice bath, comfortable bed & absolutely no insects! Terry & Bill did everything to make us feel like home: providing us with backpack, machete to pick the coconuts, water, snacks, camera, sunscreen & mosquito spray....basically everything you need! It was about 35-40 min to the nearest beach but i would say you can also just stay at the property and enjoy the surroundings, read the book, swim in the pool and you might be able to see even more than during the other tours. Thank you for hosting us and please keep in mind that you have a great home! Margarita & Juan
awesome!! terry and bill were super great hosts and we really loved their place, it was like going to hang out with your cool aunt and uncle for the week, lol. the cabana was quite nice and the bed was very comfortable. we really enjoyed just hanging out in the hammock on the deck and checking out the view. there was a lot of really beautiful birds all around and they seemed to like us quite a bit as well because they kept coming up on the deck to check us out or play whistling games with us. they are a little ways away from dominical so there's not much around as far as food options go unless you want to drive everywhere but luckily they cook some pretty good food, if you like cajun gumbo then you're in for a treat cause bill cooks a mean one!! all in all i would totally recommend this place, definitely worth the price. looking forward to our next visit
HAPPY! We had a great stay with Terry and Bill. The house and cabanas where situated on a beautiful mountain setting. If you are going, definitely have them prepare your meals for you, that was a great part of the stay coming back from a day of exploring and having delicious dishes prepared. It was very helpful having someone that could give us an insiders view of the area, what sites to see, drive times, local customs, history of the area. They set up some great tours for us and were great with directions. We would definitely recommend this to anyone.
Terry and Bill were wonderful hosts. We rented their entire property including the main house and back cabin. They were gracious enough to meet us in a nearby town to guide our group in during the night. When we awoke the next morning we were blown away by the stunning view. This oasis will change your life. The view of the jungle and waterfall, lunging on the pool deck, grilling locally raised meat on the grill. We didn't want to leave.
The house itself is very modern with stainless steel appliances, granite counter tops, and a large TV. The internet is pretty darn good for the Jungle once you figure out how to use the internet sticks (wifi coming soon!).
Bill and Terry hooked us up with lots of amazing tours in the area including ATVing. We were also only a 30-40 min drive from the beach.
I highly recommend staying here. This is a great spot for families or working groups.
