You might spend an inordinate amount of time staring out this tiny balcony and on the queen bed. A coffee mug in hand, staring at the lovely view of this town, time will stand still. Its blissful :)

The Space

Its a sunny room with a queen bed and an tiny attached small balcony with a lovely view of the city and the mountains.

Guest Access

Shared bathroom on the upper floor and the half bathroom on the ground floor.
Guests can use the kitchen for light cooking. Of course, please clean up after yourselves.
You're welcome to store food in the fridge, use the mocha pot to make coffee, you know, the usual. Baking a cake in the kitchen would be unusual, unless I get a large piece too :)

You're welcome to sit on the balcony or the anywhere on the front porch or the garden.

Interaction with Guests

I might chill out and talk with you but most days you might not see me because I have a busy schedule of work. But I love talking to people and this is a lovely way to meet interesting people. Don't be shy to call me if you need anything.

The Neighborhood

This is a residential neighborhood. The elementary school on one side of the house provides ample entertainment if you like to overhear the bizzare conversations that kids can have.

Walking downhill, we are 10 minutes walk to downtown. Uphill can be steep, but then thats how you get a lovely view from the house.

Stop by the small bakery on the way if you are walking uphill and treat yourself to some sugary mexican goodness.

Getting around

Taxis cost 35-40 pesos to get around town. Night rates can go upto 50 pesos.

A small bus runs upto panoramica, stops right before Sepultura. Catch the bus from the university steps and get off the moment the bus turns on to Panoramica. Bus should be marked "Calzada de Guadalupe" or "clz de gdpe" as the short form.

Other Things to Note

Make sure you eat Enchiladas Mineras.

Bring comfortable walking shoes.

  • We really liked staying at Anthony's house. One of the housemates there, Sweta, let us in and explained how to get around. The house is nice and clean, and the room is very comfortable. The walk to downtown is steep but not too long. If I were to go back to Guanajuato I would stay here again 100%.

  • Antonio es un excelente anfitrión, atento y super educado. Y todo lo que dice en la descripción de la casa es cierto, está super linda, la casa y la ciudad. Recomendable, cómoda, cerca del centro y con un anfitrión que se ocupó.

  • I loved this place. Antonio is a friendly host (and a hilariously animated dance instructor). The walk up offers amazing views of the city, and in the evenings I enjoyed watching the sun set over Guanajuato from the balcony. His roommate Swetha is down to earth and has a wonderfully rye sense of humor. A 10 minute walk brings you right underneath the University steps. I can't say enough about this place. Hope to return!

  • We had a lovely time staying with Antonio. His house is lovely and the view from the room is magnificent. Antonio and his housemate always made us feel welcome and we really felt a part of the household for the short time that we were there.

The living area is really comfortable, you may end up just wanting to lounge around and watch DVDs rather than head out to explore Guanajuato!

Be warned that it's a pretty fair hike up the hill so if you have bad knees or something you'll want to be willing to fork out the 50 pesos for a cab. The plus side of being up the hill is that the view is truly magnificent, Sashi and I loved sitting out on the balcony or in the front yard watching sunsets over the town as the churchbells chimed. Very majestic.

    Thank you Antonio!
